Trigun Fan Fiction ❯ Humanity: Torn Between Loving It and Hating It ❯ Shock ( Chapter 10 )
The whole next morning, Knives and Kale tried avoiding each other. Knives was still freaked out and angry with himself for even touching Kale, which only made him grit his teeth every time a flashback of the night before kept haunting him.
Kale was a whole different story. She had been awake all night because of what Knives did. She was confused, amazed, and frightened.
Confused because Knives hated her, was disgusted by her, but he kissed her for no reason in particular. Amazed because it was a pretty damn good kiss for her. Her lips still tingled! Frightened because Knives had shocked her at such a mood change and that he was likely to do it again in due time.
Knives still considered her his slave. She had prayed that he had forgotten the little deal completely, but her prayers weren't answered. Later in the day the two pairs of lovebirds left to go into town for shopping. Kale hadn't wanted to go because she would have felt silly being around the couples.
Now, she sucked up her emotions toward Knives and his odd nature and walked out in the back where he had his usual shooting session. She leaned back against the house and watched as the man fired endlessly. He never stopped except when he had to reload.
'It would be really nice to shoot like that. Hell, it would be nice if I knew how to shoot at all!' she thought while Knives never broke the rhythm he had created. That's when he stopped all together. She suddenly got the feeling of déjà vu. (A/N: XD Thank you Kyoko!)
"Woman, I thought I told you to stop staring at me," he growled. Kale shrieked when a bullet whizzed past her ear and struck the house. Her eyes went wide in fright and she suppressed a shudder.
"Sorry, Master. I was bored and decided to watch you in your grace. You're so such a great shooter, Master. Please forgive me for tainting your presence with my foul being!" she said, sarcasm dripping from each word. Knives turned slightly and narrowed his eyes.
"You dare mock me?!"
"Never, Master!" she said, smiling. He stalked up to her and loomed over her. She shrunk back slightly, but kept her mocking smile.
"Why do you insist on pestering me? Is there nothing else around here for you to do?" he whispered angrily, as if the sand below them could hear what they were saying.
Kale shrugged and whispered back, "You're easily angered. Did you know that if you got pissed off you are just giving the other person or me the satisfactory that they want out of it?" Knives went still and stared at her, his eyes never wavering. Kale stared back. Then, Knives sighed and turned away.
"What the hell do you want, human? Come to bother me about what I did last night?" He growled. Kale felt her cheeks burn.
"Actually, I was gunna leave that subject alone." She stated softly. Knives, thinking that if she ever wanted revenge against anything he did, knew she would use the precious information of what happened between them last night against him. He was a little taken back about what she said.
"What? Why?" he demanded, turning halfway to her. She looked at her feet.
"Because what happened last night was your business. I know how you are and you're probably humiliated and angry with yourself for doing such a thing. You're not a guy that would kiss random girls, Knives, much less, human girls. Guess it would be a little different if I were a Plant, huh?"
Knives watched Kale very closely. He had undoubtedly thought she would start annoying him because he kissed her and as much as he wanted to, he did not regret his actions, but he wasn't going let her know that.
Instead, he shifted his gaze to her shoulder and asked, "Have you been cleaning it?" Kale glanced at her shoulder and shot Knives an annoyed look.
"Of course I have! Why wouldn't I?"
"It was a simple question on your well-being, human. You should be happy that I would give even the slightest of care for your health." Kale kept her irritated expression as he turned and walked away from her. She relaxed and watched him resume his session.
Knives was all-too-aware of Kale's heavy gaze on him. It was getting difficult to concentrate on the target yards away from him when he could feel her eyes on him. He sighed in frustration and called out over his shoulder, "Stop staring, human!"
"Fine!" Kale shouted back, just as irritated. She was only watching. It wasn't like it was slowly killing him or anything. She turned and walked back into the house. Knives watched over his shoulder as she stomped away. A smirk slowly slid its way onto his mouth.
"Stupid, human,"
+++++
"Argh, I hate him! He makes me want to throw things!" Kale growled, stalking around her bedroom. She sighed and sat down on her bed. She didn't really hate him. Even with all the hell he had put her through, she still didn't feel any hate toward the jerk.
"Gosh, for someone who wants to destroy the whole human race, he's an awesome kisser . . . Oh my God?! What is going on here?! Knives kissed me out of the blue and I'm sitting here contemplating on how good it was! I need something to drink . . ."
Kale walked out into the hall and down the stairs. She was right at the kitchen entrance when someone started knocking on the door. She sighed and stalked over to the door. She opened it and stared at herself.
". . ."
"Hey, Kale!" her mirror-self said. Kale blinked and slammed the door.

Knives placed his gun in its hostler and started for the kitchen door. His hand was on the doorknob when he heard knocking on the front door. He narrowed his eyes and started around the house. He stopped when he saw Kale knocking on the door, calling for someone inside to open the door.
"Human, what the hell are you doing?" Kale spun around in surprise and he arched an eyebrow. He noticed that she had changed clothes, but he didn't care.
"W-who are you?" she asked. Knives frowned.
"Don't play games with me, slave. I'm not in the mood. Get inside so I can torture you. Time to show you how well I am at being superior," he said with a devilish smirk. Kale's eyes widened and she backed away.
"W-What?!" Knives gave her a look.
"Slave, stop fooling around and acting as if you don't remember our deal."
"But I don't remember any deal!"
"Human, this is getting annoying. Knock it off!"
"What's going on here?!" she screeched. He growled, on the verge to tell her something rude when he heard his name being hissed from above him. He looked up to see Kale looking at him with wide eyes.
"Uh . . ." Knives started.
"Hi Kale!" the other girl said. Knives looked at the girl before him then up at the window then back. He turned on his heel and started back around to the kitchen door. On his way he looked up and mouthed, "Human. Kitchen. Now."
"Human, what the hell is going on?!" Knives demanded as he slammed the kitchen door closed. Kale was leaning against the counter looking stressed and a little angered.
"Don't let her in, Knives."
"I have no intention of doing so. Do you really think I would want another human taking up my space? Who is she?" Kale frowned slightly and paced over to the kitchen entrance.
"Someone I wish would just drop off the face of Gunsmoke." (A/N: hehe, you thought I would say Drop off the face of Earth didn't ya? Didn't ya?! I ain't stupid! XD I'm smarter than you are, it's jus that you don't know it! Bwahahahaha--*cough* *gag* Xx . . .)
"That isn't the answer I was looking for," he grouched. Kale scowled and looked over her shoulder.
"She's my evil sister, Kane." She grumbled.
