I wake up the next morning to Emily shaking me softly. I rub my eyes and look at her to see her smiling. "It's time," she says softly and I smile back at her.
She pulls me up excitedly and pushes me into the bathroom to get changed. Once I'm through I head back into her room and she has me sit on the floor in front of her bed. She uses some skinny object she calls a 'hot iron', and makes my hair go straight.
I smile in the mirror amazed at myself. "Not done yet," she says emerging in the reflection with me and smiling.
She puts make up on me and I chew on my lip afraid to look in the mirror. "Look," she tells me and turns me around.
I see my reflection and I have to touch my face to be sure it is really me in the reflection. Never in my life have I never felt so gorgeous. Never in my life have I ever felt like I fit in with the gorgeous girls I always would see walking on the streets outside the orphanage. I turn around and blink tears from my eyes hugging Emily. She smiles and hugs me back. "You welcome," she says before I can say anything and I smile once again.
"Come on, Kyle is outside," she says as she looks down at her phone and she pulls me along with her.I grab my bag and head down the stairs with her and outside to the car waiting outside her house. A boy sits in the front seat and has an obvious resembles to Steven. "Alright Kyle you know where your taking her right?" she asks him and he nods his head.
''Rossie's," he says and she nods her head.
"Good luck," she says and hugs me tightly before I get into the car.
"You look good," he says and smiles at me reassuringly and my face turns red.
"Thank you," I say softly and I watch as the trees pass us by.
I get butterflies in my stomach that flutter so badly I feel as though I may throw up. I almost tell Kyle to pull over the car a few times but he just laughs at me. "You are such a girl," he says.
I roll my eyes chuckling. "Well uh-thanks."
We finally arrive outside a large restaurant. "Do you know if he is here?" I ask him and he looks around me and points outside the window.
I look to my side and see a sign saying, "ROSSIE'S WELCOMES THE MUSIC STYLINGS OF EDWARD CULLEN ALL DAY TODAY".
I bite my lip so hard I think I may bring blood. "Hey now, breathe," Kyle says and I listen taking in a deep breath. "Go on now, before you lose your nerve. I'll be out here waiting."
I take one more deep breath and finally get out of the car walking up the to doors. I look back at Kyle and he gives me a thumbs up before I pull the door open. "Table for one?" the lady asks me.
"Actually, I'm uh-looking for someone," I say and my eyes scan the room.
My eyes land on him and my heart stops beating. I lose my breath. It is him, there is no doubt about it. The girl chuckles. "He usually gets that reaction," she says and shakes her head looking back at the guy behind the piano.
He looks up and the second his eyes land on me he stops playing the piano. He gets up immediately and walks quickly down the aisle. I stand there shocked for a minute before running after him. I see him take a turn out the side exit and I hurry outside the door. However, when I get outside no one is there. "Please! No!" I yell and I look around the alley horrified.
This can't happen. I came all this way, I went through so much, I have to at least know who he is. Knowing that he exists isn't enough. It doesn't help the questions in my head. I hit the side of the brick building with the palm of my hand and feel the tears come to my eyes. "Please," I whisper softly.
I sit on the side of the wall with my hair in my hands, shaking my head softly still not comprehending what is going on. I look up and see someone disappear behind a garbage can immediately. I stand up shaking. "Please, no. I know you know who I am. Please," I say softly and I walk toward the garbage can hesitantly.
"You really shouldn't be here," a voice says and I get goose-bumps all over my body.
"I have to know. I have to."
He finally emerges from the garbage can and once again I lose my breath. My dreams never did him justice. I swallow a lump in my throat and advert my eyes look at the ground. "What do you need to know," he asks and I'm taken back by the hostility in his voice.
"Are you him?" I ask softly.
I glance up at him and his eyes are looking me over strangely. "Who?" he asks though I know for sure he knows the answer.
"The one who... saved me?"
"No," he answers too quickly and I shake my head.
"You are, you have to be. I dream about you----" I cut myself off hearing how crazy I must sound.
"You dream about me?" he asks trying to hide a smile on his face.
I keep my eyes on the ground and nod my head. "Why?" he asks and I look at him seeing his eyes full of curiosity. I shake my head softly. "I don't know."
"If I were some guy, who did save you. Why would it matter."
"I don't know, I just, I have to know."
He shrugs. "Well I'm sorry I couldn't help you," he says after a minute and he heads back to the door.
I feel tears fill my eyes with anger. "You are! I know you are! Why are you lying to me!" I yell at him, in awe at the anger in my voice.
I rarely ever got angry. He stops walking and keeps his back towards me. "When were you saved from this fire?" he asks me.
"When I was eight," I say slowly.
"And how old are you now?"
"Sixteen."
"Exactly. That's eight years ago, which would make me 10 when I saved you. It's not possible."
I don't say anything, I just sit there smiling. He turns around after a minute and looks at me confused. "I didn't tell you what I was saved from," I say grinning.
I can see the muscles in his jaw tighten and his eyes become slits from anger. "Go away. Your not welcome here," he says angrily and goes to open the door.
"I'm not leaving until you tell me."
He sighs and looks at me helplessly. "You seem to already know what you want to know."
I shake my head. He looks at me waiting. "How is it possible?"
He glares at me before heading back inside the door and I scream out in anger. I walk towards the front and Kyle spots me driving over. He looks at me anxious. "I don't know what's going on," I mutter and he frowns.
"Not him?"
"It IS him, that''s what I don't understand."
He sits there for a minute before opening the door for me. I shake my head. "If I leave now I'll never have another chance. I'm not leaving until I find out what's going on."
"Emma, you can't stay here," he says and I look at him smug.
"Watch me."
I sit outside the side door and wrap my arms around my legs to keep myself warm. I close my eyes thinking back on my dream and I suddenly remember more from it.
"Don't let go," he whispers to me and I wrap my arms around me.
"I'm scared!" I cry and I burry my head into his chest.
"Don't be scared. I promise everything will be okay."
"Where's my mom and dad! I need to find my mom and dad!"
"We can't right now, we have to worry about getting you out of here safe and sound."
"No!" I cry loudly. "I need to find them! I don't wanna be alone!" I yell and I fight to get out of the strong mans arms.
He doesn't let go he just looks down at me. "I swear on my life, that you won't be alone."
I sigh and look around at the alley way. So much for never being alone. Maybe I shouldn't have made Kyle leave. I look at the paper in my hand and the number scribbled on it. He made me promise I would call him for a ride, but that he would leave for now and give me privacy. I sit outside until the door opens and someone from the kitchen looks at me strangely. "You okay little girl?" he asks me and I nod my head."Why don't you go inside, it's warm in there."
I smile softly. "I have no money. I'm just waiting on someone."
He looks at me sadly before smiling. "You sing?" he asks me and I look at him confused.
"They're having a contest. Winner gets a free meal," he says and I look at him curiously.
"Who is playing the music for it? Is it a c.d. player or..."
He shakes his head. "Edward Cullen."
I grin. "Alright."
The old man drags me inside and up to the hostess. He mutters something to her and she smiles. "We have one last contestant!" she yells into a microphone and Edward glares at me.
I smirk as she hands me the microphone. I flip through a little book and pick out a song handing him the sheet music. He starts to play and I can feel his eyes on me while I sing. He can't run now

"You gotta be out there
You gotta be somewhere
Wherever you are, I'm waiting
Cause there are these nights when
I sing myself to sleep
Hoping my dreams
Bring you close to me
Are you listening?
Hear me I'm crying out
I'm ready now
Turn my world upside down
Find me
I'm lost inside the crowd
It's getting loud
I need you to see
I'm screaming for you to please
Hear me
Can you hear me?
I used to be scared of
Letting someone in
But it gets so lonely being on my own
No one to talk to
And no one to hold me
I'm not always strong
I need you here
Are you listening?
Hear me I'm crying out
I'm ready now
Turn my world upside down
Find me
I'm lost inside the crowd
I'm getting loud
I need you to see
I'm screaming for you to please
Hear me
I'm restless and wild
I fall but I try
I need someone to understand
I'm lost in my thoughts
And baby I fought
For all that I got
Can you hear me
Hear me I'm crying out
I'm ready now
Turn my world upside down
Find me
I'm lost inside the crowd
It's getting loud
I need you to see
I'm screaming for you to please
Hear me, hear me, hear me
Can you hear me?
Hear me, hear me, hear me
Can you hear me?
Hear me, hear me, hear me"
(SONG IS BY KELLY CLARKSON; HEAR ME)
