2) Feelings
AJ Angelique

"Maybe you should start from the beginging and work your way from there," Anthy suggest. Utena nodded and gathered her breath as she foucused her mind on the last month.

"It all started several months ago when my parents returned from a trip to some strange and forgein place they had never been to before. They were find when they got back but a week later
they began to feel ill and the doctor was called to our home. He proclaimed that they a strange new illness and they were locked away into quarentine where I could only see them through a plexi glass window and touch them through plastic gloves.

"All of the best doctors tried to save them, they searched day and night for a cure that came too late. My parents died just moments after they found a way to destroy the disease. Yesterday was their funeral and everyone they knew came. I hosted to family members and friends, many of which I hadn't seen before in my entire life. I didn't shed a single tear in their presence and I was the last one to leave the cemetary. Once I was in my car, I cried for the first time. I was filled with not only sorrow, but a great sense of lost. Not just for my parents, but for my direction in life as well. I have idea what I'm going to do know that they're dead," Utena said.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Anthy said.
"It's allright," Utena said.
"Even so, you're welcome here to stay as long as you need to rest and heal," Akio said.
"But I..." Utena started as she looked at him, highly confussed.
"Utena, not all wounds are physical. Some are also rooted deep in the mind," Akio said and Anthy adverted her in saddness.

Days pass into weeks and weeks pass into uncounted time. One dright sunny day, Utena wandered the castle on her own for the first time. Ever since Akio invited her to stay, she traversed the castle with either him or Anthy. They said it was to make sure that she didn't get lost, but she thought they were just trying to keep her away from certin areas. As if they were trying to hide something. Yet now here she was, struck by a bout of homesickness and she was on a hunt for a phone.

But the problem was that she couldn't find one. She looked allover the place and she couldn't find any phones, any TVs, any radios, any computers...in fact, there was hardly anything electrical in the castle but none of it could connect her to the outside world. She couldn't even find carrier pigeons or a pair of tin cans on a string. She was feeling highly frustrated about this when she ran into Akio in the east hallway on the third floor.

"Akio," Utena gasped when she nearly walked into him as he walked around a corner. He looked at her and smiled.

"You won't find any," he said.
"Any what?" Utena asked.
"Any way to contact the outside world, we're totally cut off," he said.
"What?!" Utena esxclaimed.
"It's true, walk with me and I'll explain," Akio said and Utena followed him upstairs to the north wing.

"Utena, the building we are in is called the Eteranl Castle," Akio said.
"Eternal Castle?" Utena asked.
"Yes. It has been in my family for many years but no one lives here any more. The castle is mostly used as a weekend retreat now."

"Are you on vacation then?" Utena asked.
"I'm afraid not. Me and my sister were sent here back when..." Akio said and glanced at Utena, "well, I guess I would say when you were ten years old."

"You've been here all this time?" Utena gasped and Akio shook his head yes.

"We have many things in common Utena, one of which is that we don't have parents," he said and Utena snapped her head left to look at him.

"How did they...?" Utena asked cautiously.
"They didn't. They divorced and fadded away our lives," Akio said. Utena frowned at this, feeling sorry for Akio and Anthy right then. Yet she noticed the lack of emotion on Akio's part, both in his voice and his eyes. It was as if he felt nothing about what he just said. She'd understand if he was trying to hide sorrow or surprise some pent up anger, but he didn't emote.

Utena didn't the chance to ponder any furthur when Akio stopped in his tracks. Utena stoped a step ahead of him and looked where was looking to see Anthy laying on a Roman stlye red velvet couch. She laid on her back, her eyes closed in slumber while her glasses were placed on the dark stained oak cofee table. She laid on her back with her hands placed on her chest while her hair was freed of those giant curls and the rich purple hair flowed down the couch like a small waterfall.

As the sunlight streamed in from the nearby window in slanted golden rays, the light shone on Anthy exposed a beauty in her that Utena had noticed the first time she saw the woman.

"Has no one told you, she's not breathing," Akio said with a frown.
"Huh?" Utena asked and looked him, highly confussed.
"My sister isn't human, she's a Soul Doll and the Rose Bride," Akio said.
"What are those?" Utena asked curiously.

"A Soul Doll is a life size puppet made to look human and it has a soul but it's not really alive. It barely eats for it lacks the innerds to digest, even a human heart. So it lives in the shadows between the living and the dead. The only way you can tell one is a Soul Doll is that their elbows and knees are more those of a puppet rather than a human.

"The Rose Bride is the one who tends to the Eternal Castel and weilds the powers of Dios, the same powers that she used to save you," Akio said and turned to Utena, "you didn't have just a minor bump on the head Utena, you had a hot burning engine in your lap as well that crushed your legs and stomach." Utena's eyes grew a size wider as these words sunk in. She took a few shaky steps back as she looked down at the floor.

'It can't be true, it can't be true...how...why...' Utena thought, trying to make sense it all.
"Utena," Akio said and approached her. He put his hands on her shoulders and she looked up at him.

"You can break down on me now when I need your help the most," he said.
"My help?" she asked.
"Yes. A Soul Doll can't remain a Soul Doll forever. They need love to become a true human...but if they aren't loved they turn right back into a doll again. I have tried all that I can but I lack the heart to turn her into a real girl," Akio said.

"What are you asking?"
"I help her to become human, please," Akio said, emoting saddness for the first time as a tear rolled down his face. Utena was caught off guard by this and was surprised when she saw that tear roll down his skin.

Yet before she could react, the two hear a soft moan from the other room and they looked to see Anthy waking up. Akio removed his hands from Utena and imeditally went to the left side of the couch and knealt on the floor beside his sister. She bliked her eyes a couple of times, took in a deep breath and looked to her right to see Akio.

"Hello," he said and she smiled. Utena looked on at this sceen, it was obvious that they loved each other but could she really believe what Akio told her?

Why not?
She was alive because of Anthy and the least Utena could do to repay her was to help her become human like her brother. Utena then walked over to the head of the couch and leaned down so as that her head was over Anthy's and they were just barely touching noses. Akio raised an eyebrow at this, not sure what to make sure of this action.

"Miss Utena?" Anthy asked as she looked up at the pink haired woman.
"I am your mind, giving you someone to talk to," Utena said, just loud enough for her to hear. Anthy looked on very puzzled after she blinked her eyes twice in surprise. She then put back on her false happy face and smiled.

"Hello," Anthy said and lifted her hands up to hold Utena's face and Utena smiled...
