Chapter Two: Sisters
“So Zero…will you have dinner with the chairman, my sister and I?” Yuki asked.
“You having a sister…it boggles my mind. But yeah…sure if you want,” Yuki sighed in relief. She had had trouble concentrating on her studies and was nervous about seeing Ren again. They walked into the Chairman's quarters and into the dining room. Zero caught his breath and looked from Ren to Yuki and back again.
“You two really do look a like” Ren bowed.
“You must be Zero Kiriyu of the Kiriyu Clan” Zero's eyes narrowed on her suspiciously.
“I am” The moment of silence stretched on tensely until the Chairman broke it.
“Ren has agreed to help you two be prefects!”
“What?” Zero and Yuki said in unison. The Chairman flapped his hand at them.
“Don't worry she knows all about the Night Class. And think about it this way, it's less work for you two!” Ren smiled slightly
“At least until Yuki has made a decision,” she said as they all knelt down before the table. The dinner progressed as silently as possible with each person concentrated on his or her own thoughts. And so it was a relief to everyone when the Chairman announced that it was time for Yuki and Zero to back to their prefect duties.
“Yuki, you should probably take Ren around, just show her the ropes and everything.” Yuki looked startled and started to nod but Ren held up her hand.
“If it would not be an imposition, I would prefer to explore a bit around here by myself. I am sure Yuki and Zero are competent at their job and don't need a third newcomer attracting any unwanted attention.” Zero watched Ren during this speech noting more dissimilarity between her and Yuki. Her voice was low and soothing giving a hint of a quiet introverted personality and her absolute politeness of speech suggested a less impetuous nature than her sister. Physically it was impossible to think that they could be anything but sisters, although Yuki's hair was lighter and shorter than her sister's. Ren had a few inches in height on Yuki…and a few inches more elsewhere, a tiny male part of his mind whispered but otherwise they were carbon copies. At least she didn't act like Yuki because one Yuki was enough for him and with that thought he turned his mind to the evening ahead of him.

“I have heard that we have a guest, Yuki” said Kaname as he walked towards the school building. Yuki hesitated before speaking,
“Yes…my sister,” She looked up at Kaname to see if he was surprised, but like always he kept his emotions well governed and so nothing appeared on his face.
“That is a surprising new development” was all he said. Although Yuki did not know it, his mind was racing thinking of what this meant. I might lose Yuki, he thought. He felt conflicting emotions rise up within him, anger and pain at the thought of losing her yet happiness that she would finally be able to know who she was. Even though he was thinking hard, his vampire quick reflexes caught Yuki when she tripped over a rock. Sheer pleasure flooded through his body at having her so close but with that came the powerful hunger he had come to feel for her. Hunger for her blood, hunger for her. But as he always did, he pushed those feelings back as he set her upright and stepped back. He couldn't resist however brushing the hair from her face and saying gently,
“You should watch where you put your feet Yuki,”. He enjoyed even more watching her blush and stammer out a thank you.

Yuki had been wandering the grounds all night looking for trouble and hoping to avoid seeing Ren. She was somewhat surprised at her success, having seen neither hide nor hair of her sister the entire time. Going to her favorite spot, a low wall that featured a great view of the academy, Yuki sat down and began to swing her legs. It was a lot to think about, having her past suddenly come back. And even oddly enough she already felt a sort of connection, a bond, with Ren. Her thoughts continued on that line until she realized that Zero had joined her.
“Hey…how's everything going?” Yuki let out a breath.
“Good, it's going good. I was just thinking about all this and what it means…you know having a sister and all.” Yuki glanced at Zero. He was looking away and rubbing the tattoo on his neck. That was only something he did when something bothered him and Yuki could think of one thing that could bother him. “Don't worry Zero, I'm not leaving you. No matter what happens I'm sticking with you,” He smiled slightly at her.
“Good. But that's not what was thinking about,” Yuki looked confused.
“Then what was?”
“Well the chairman says she knows all about the Cross Academy and the night class.”
`Yeah so?”
“I guess what I'm trying to say is…who is she to know that stuff. I mean you're the adopted daughter of the chairman and I come from a vampire hunter clan. It makes sense that we know but her…” Understanding dawned on Yuki.
“You don't think that I come from a vampire hunting clan do you?” She watched him rub his neck again.
“No I didn't get that impression from your sisters. She didn't give off that aura.”
“Well she's definitely not a vampire…I think” Zero shook his head.
“No she didn't have any fangs, I checked. But if she's not a hunter or a vampire what's left? A really well informed human?” They both stared out across the academy trying to guess just who Yuki's sister was.

Between keeping the students of the night class in line and his thoughts about Yuki, the night had dragged on for Kaname. He was only too happy to retire to his sumptuous suite in the Moon dormitory as the sky began to lighten. Perhaps because he was so tired that he didn't notice his visitor right away. She stepped out of shadows and before he had time to react he was thrown on his back. Before the situation registered in his brain he realized that she was now sitting on top of him pinning his arms to his sides with her legs and she had a hand gripped around his throat. He looked up at his attacker and realized this must be Yuki's sister. The buzzing he felt at his throat gave him another clue. His eyes widened in surprise.
“You're a witch!”
