Let the Games Begin!
Yuki awoke groggily while it was still totally dark outside. Her first instinct was to cuddle closer to the source of the massive amount of heat keeping her warm, but then she realized, that heat was coming from another person. She began to struggle against the arms holding her to the bed, awaking Kaname from his slumber.
“Yuki?? It's ok. It's me… Kaname… You're ok. I found you in the woods…”
Yuki stopped trying to get away and tilted her head, squinting into the darkness toward the familiar voice.
“Kaname? Why… Why are we sleeping together?”
Kaname chuckled.
“Sorry… We're like this because I was frightened… Don't fret. Your father knows where you are. He agreed that in your state you needed someone to lay with you to warm you up. You were blue from cold Yuki… I was so unbelievably frightened… I don't even want to think of what I'd do if I ever lost you… You're the most important thing in the world… Ever since the first time I saved you from that level E vampire… Yuki… I… I know you think I've been treating you like a child… But… Truly, it's due to the fact that I love you. I'm always so scared that something's going to happen to you and I'm going to lose you forever… I worry over you constantly… And I'm always worried that the things I do and say to you pull you away… I'm always frightened that you'll hate me…”
Kaname pulled Yuki close and sighed. Yuki lay there; too stunned to speak.
` D-did Kaname just say he loves me?? What should I do?! I-I mean… I guess I love him. That's the only reasonable explanation for the way I get when he's around.'
“K-Kaname… Kaname I… I gue-”
She was stopped mid-sentence by the affectionate look gracing Kaname's beautiful face. He carefully used one hand to push Yuki's stray hairs from her face then held her face gently in his hands and moved close to her face. Yuki felt her face heat and her heart began to palpitate wildly, she was afraid Kaname would hear. As Kaname moved even closer, Yuki closed her eyes, and then it happened. Kaname's soft lips pressed lightly against Yuki's. Her mind went blank, and all she could feel was Kaname's lips, and all she could hear was her heartbeat wildly in her chest. When Kaname pulled away, Yuki opened her eyes to find Kaname staring into hers. She felt the color on her cheeks darken drastically as she stared back.
“K-Kaname… I-I love you too.”
She stuttered, her mouth unwilling to work correctly.
Kaname smiled and kissed her again, a shorter kiss but with no less passion than the first.
“Now, my beloved, sleep. You're free of school tomorrow. Your father said you were excused. He wants you to be well… And I'm not sure I could let you from my sight for at least a day after today… You don't mind spending the day with me… Do you?”
Yuki shook her head and yawned,
“No… I've actually always been curious as to how the Night class spends their days. I know most sleep… But you don't. So I've always been very curious.”
She smiled and snuggled against Kaname's chest.
He wrapped his arms lovingly around her.
“Good. Well you'll get to see tomorrow. But for now, sleep.”
Yuki nodded and fell back into her slumber with Kaname following shortly after.
----
When she awoke the second time, Yuki sat up in the bed empty except for her. She gently touched her lips,
`Did I imagine that?'
Yuki looked around, this certainly wasn't her room. She leaned her head on the wall and closed her eyes. She felt someone sit down next to her. She opened her eyes as an arm slid around her shoulders.
“Good morning beautiful.”
It was Kaname. She looked at him and he kissed her cheek gently.
`Maybe I didn't imagine it…'
She remembered exactly what had happened and she felt her cheeks darken. Kaname chuckled.
“Good to see you're doing fine… Anyway… Your father brought over a change of clothes for you this morning, since you'll not need to wear your uniform today. It's in the bathroom. Once you change leave those clothes in the bag… I'll have them washed for you. You may take a shower also…”
Yuki nodded as Kaname stood.
“I'll be in the kitchen whenever you're done. I enjoy doing what little homework I have in there… It gets monotonous doing everything in my office.”
With that Kaname left Yuki to her thoughts. She sighed, stretched and stood, making her way to the bathroom. She locked the door and slipped into a warm shower. Once she's washed, she sat under the flow of the water, thinking over everything that had happened. The warmth of the shower always clears her mind. After sometime a small knock came on the door. Yuki shut off the water and quickly wrapped a towel around her and inched open the door.
“Y-yes?”
It was Kaname. She blushed as he smiled.
“I was just coming to make sure you were alright… You've been in there for quite some time now.”
She shook her head.
“I'm fine… I'll be out in a minute.”
He nodded and walked away as Yuki slipped the door shut. Yuki pulled her clothes from the bag resting on the counter, and slipped them on. She then shoved her old clothes into the bag and walked from the bathroom to the kitchen where Kaname sat, huddled over concentrating on a book in front of him. Yuki slipped silently behind him and tried to figure out what he was doing, but it looked like a different language. Kaname finally looked up.
“Ahh. So you're done.”
“Kaname? What's that?”
She pointed at the book he'd been reading.
“Oh this? It's a German book. I've been learning German… Our homework is to read this book. And understand it…”
He chuckled and noticed the bag.
“Ahh... Here. Let me see that.”
She handed him the bag and watched as he placed it inside a chute that she knew lead to the laundry room. Kaname turned back and slid his hand into hers.
“Now let's go. I've got quite a bit to do today… Especially since I didn't get a lot of it done yesterday due to being too worried over you to even think…”
Yuki nodded and stood. Suddenly a loud growling noise filled the room. Kaname stopped and looked at the blushing Yuki, her arms wrapped around her stomach.
“Oh dear… I forgot… I'm so sorry Yuki. I forget you need food…”
He stood contemplating momentarily.
“I'll have Kain bring you something. Is there anything you'd prefer?”
“Uhmm… Some mini chocolate covered doughnuts?”
Kaname laughed and shook his head,
“Pretty specific. But sure. I'll have him bring them to my office.”
Yuki nodded, smiling and took Kaname's hand. They left the dorms and piled into the limousine awaiting them. Once they'd arrived in Kaname's office Yuki was surprised to find a box of chocolate covered doughnuts awaiting her on Kaname's desk.
“K-Kaname? I never heard you call Kain…”
Kaname nodded and smiled.
“Yes. He and I have a special link since we're so close. I don't need to call him. He knows when I need him simply by instinct.”
Yuki nodded, only slightly understanding. She reached for a doughnut and munched timidly on it. Kaname smiled and shook his head.
“Yuki… I know how much of glutton you are. You don't have to try.”
She blushed, finished her doughnut, and ate three more. Kaname sat down and shook his head, pulling out piles of paper from a drawer.
“Yuki… If you get bored of watching me, you may turn on the t.v.”
She glanced toward where he was motioning. She turned back and smiled.
“Ok. Thanks.”
He smirked.
“Yuki… Come here, please?”
She tilted her head slightly confused but did as she was told.
“Yes?”
He pulled her into his lap and kissed her softly then wrapped his arms around her.
“Yuki? Be my girlfriend?”
Yuki's eyes widened then she smiled and nodded.
“Of course! I love you. I'd be happy to…”
He smiled and hugged her than kissed her again, longer this time. After he finally pulled away he moved her so she was curled up in his lap where he could still reach the papers he was to be filling out. Yuki watched as he picked up paper after paper, read it then either signed it or stamped it with `invalid' and put them in a different pile. Yuki began to yawn around the time Kaname was almost done with the first pile of papers. Around that time Aido appeared.
“Kaname-sama?”
Kaname and Yuki both looked up.
“Yes Aido?”
“Ugh... You have a visitor…”
Kaname snickered quietly at Aido's annoyance.
“Let them in then.”
Aido nodded and opened the door, escaping as soon as the `visitor' stepped in. Yuki gasped and slipped from Kaname's lap, landing quietly on the floor. She crawled under the desk and hid.
“Hello Zero. What may I do for you? Shouldn't you be in class right now?”
“I was. And I happened to notice that Yuki WASN'T.”
Yuki placed both hands over her mouth as a small squeak escaped. Kaname reached down and patted her gently.
“And?”
Zero was glaring.
“I know you know where she is. And…”
Zero's face got slightly red and he looked down.
“And I wanted to apologize… To you. About yesterday.”
Kaname straightened in his seat.
“About yesterday… It should be me apologizing to you. I said a lot of things I shouldn't have.”
Yuki tilted her head, genuinely curious as to what happened. Zero shuffled uncomfortably.
“No… I deserved that… It's all true anyway… I-I just… Well… I wanted to apologize because I know I wasn't the most helpful person yesterday… I guess… I guess whenever you see her… Tell her I'm so sorry… I didn't mean for it to be like that… I-I'll see you…”
With that said, Zero left, closing the door behind him. Kaname scooted back his chair and looked caringly at Yuki.
“Are you alright? That fall sounded like it hurt a little.”
Yuki shook her head, scooted out from under the desk, and stood.
“No. I'm fine… What… What exactly happened between you and Zero yesterday? “
Kaname sighed and pulled her into his lap again.
“I sort of exploded on him. I told him he was worthless for leaving you like that when you went to find him… I told him he didn't deserve to be around you… I'm sorry Yuki… He just got to me… You're the one thing I won't chance losing.”
Yuki shook her head and smiled gently.
“It's ok... You apologized. That's all that matters.”
Kaname nodded.
“Alright… Well, as soon as I finish this stack I should be done for today. What do you want to do after I finish?”
Yuki tilted her head in thought.
“Uhmm… We could always go back to the dorm and watch movies?”
Kaname smirked.
“Alright. Give me five minutes... Less… And I'll be done.
Yuki nodded and snuggled close to Kaname's body and closed her eyes. The next thing she remembered was waking up to Kaname's soft voice calling her name.
“Yuki… We're back… What movie do you want to watch?”
Yuki stood up, surprised and moved to where Kaname stood, next to a shelf of DVDs. Yuki scanned the titles for a long time before settling on one she didn't think any guy would own.
“Let's watch the Nana movie!”
Kaname smirked.
“Alright. I bet you think it's weird I have this huh? It was my sister's. She gave it to me, told me it was a good one to keep around for if I ever had a girl over…”
He laughed.
“Guess she was right.”
Yuki looked up surprised,
“You have a sister?”
Kaname chuckled, put the DVD into the player, and pulled Yuki onto the couch and lay down with Yuki lying in front of him, his arms wrapped around her.
“Yes. Well, I did. She died… Unfortunately… She died in a fire.”
Yuki gasped,
“I'm so sorry… I-I didn't know.”
Kaname smiled sadly and kissed Yuki's head.
“It's alright. I happened a long time ago… And no one outside of you, Kane and my family know… Most of Celcelia's friends have died. She was never friends with many vampires. She befriended humans easier. It was over a human's life span ago… So no one knows about her anymore… It's almost as though she never existed…”
Kaname's voice began to sound sad. Yuki turned on the couch so she could look into his eyes and she kissed him. Kaname was slightly shocked then he eased into complete reign of the kiss. After they pulled away, Yuki smiled and rolled back over as Kaname began the movie.
----
Yuki mumbled, she had fallen asleep again and Kaname carried her into the bedroom and slipped her under the covers and returned to his German book in the living room. Yuki tossed and turned, her dreams giving her some problems. She woke but kept her eyes closed and groped blindly around the room, finding nothing she opened her eyes.
Where did Kaname go??'
She slid from the bed and tiptoed out of the room. Kaname was on the couch, sleeping with his right arm across his face and the left holding his book where it touched the floor. Yuki smiled gently and carefully pulled the book form his hand and placed a bookmark in it then covered him with a blanket she found in the bedroom. She quietly slipped into the kitchen and began to snoop around, looking for anything besides blood tablets. In the fridge, she found a few bottles of water (for dissolving blood tablets), Sprite (to dissolve blood tablets) and some cider (to dissolve blood tablets). Yuki's nose crinkled but she grabbed an unopened can of Sprite. Next, she searched through the pantry, all she found there was a profuse amount of… Blood tablets… And an orange. Yuki sighed and moved to the next place. She began looking in the kitchen closet, but all that was in there was cleaning supplies. Yuki sighed and turned, closing the door then had to cover a squeal in surprise. There was a plate of onigiri sitting on the table. She grabbed her Sprite from the table, grasped the plate, and peeked into the living room. Kaname was still sleeping, so she sat at the table and glared at the rice balls as though they were a source of pain. Then she noticed a small note.
`Kaname told me to bring you these a while ago.
I only just remembered sorry.
-Kain'
Yuki smiled and happily ate the rice balls then washed the plate. Suddenly arms were being wrapped around her and a head rested on her shoulder. She smiled and turned toward Kaname.
“You're amazing. I believe the reason I awoke was due to the fact I was suddenly very warm.”
Yuki smiled,
“I was only returning the favor. I woke because a certain vampire was nowhere to be found.”
Kaname smiled and kissed her neck.
“I'm sorry.”
Yuki finished washing her plate, set it to dry, and smiled
“It's ok. Anyway when do I get to go home?”
Kaname pretended to be hurt.
“Do you want to leave me that badly?”
He stepped away and turned slightly, smirking, then looked back at Yuki with a sad expression. Judging from her surprised look she was going to give him exactly the reaction he wanted. Yuki stuttered,
“K-Kaname! I-I'd n-never! Nnnya!”
Kaname, unable to hold it in any longer, exploded in laughter.
“It's ok Yuki. I'll take you back. I need to speak to your father about us anyway.”
Yuki's eyes widened.
“I want to be with you. It only makes sense.”
He nodded.
“Alright. I guess I expected that. Well let's go.”
He smiled and took her hand into his and they walked out of his dorm.
