Chapter Twenty-Five

Van had just talked to a servant that his brother had married. Van and Merle were out searching for Hitomi again, around the time they had the ceremony. So when he came back about two weeks later everyone assumed that he knew.

"Lord Van where are you going with Escaflowne?" a concerned Merle asked, running up to Van.

"I'm going to my brothers Kingdom to meet his new wife. Apparently they had privet wedding six months ago and there were only witnesses there. So I'm going to go meet my new sister in-law." Van was happy for his brother he had been so heart broken when Nariea and Eriea died. Folken was now in his 30's and far time he settled down and started a family. Just Van didn't know who Folken had settled down with.

"Folken's your brother why didn't he tell you that he got married?"

"I don't know. See you later Merle."

Van took off into the sky in the transformed Escaflowne and went to his brother's kingdom.

Van got there around noon when the king and queen were eating. The queen was now about seven months pregnant, they were both very excited for their new arrival.

Van walked into the palace and a servant stopped him.

"Excuse me, may I help you?"

"I'm looking for my brother Folken would you be able to tell me where to find him?"

"Yes, my Lord and Lady are having lunch in the dining room. Come with me?"

"Alright." Lord and Lady…huh?

"So you must be Van Fanel. Just go through those doors and you will find your brother."

"Thank you."

Van walks up to the door but before he opens it he hears a familiar voice. "It's Hitomi" Van whispered. "What is Hitomi doing here?" Van opens the door to Find Folken and his love Hitomi having lunch at the table.

"Van." Hitomi whispered.

"Van my brother, what a surprise. What brings you here?"

"I have come to meet my new sister in-law, I just herd the news." Van looks at Hitomi. "Hitomi what are you doing here?"

Folken stands up while Hitomi answers, "I live here."

"You married my brother?"

"Yes I did." Van's heart shattered into a million pieces at her response. How could she?

"But Hitomi he is so much older then you, 10 years to be exact."

"I don't care, I love him and he loves me, right Folken." Folken walked over behind Hitomi and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Of course my dear."

Hitomi slowly stands up; it was so much more difficult being pregnant.

Van almost died right there when he saw Hitomi's pregnant body, "You're pregnant, my brother got you pregnant, you're having his child." Van was in shock.

"Yes, and we couldn't be happier…Uncle Van." Replied a quite pleased Folken, he wrapped his arms around me, from behind.

"How long have you been here with Folken, since you left me?"

"No. Since the beginning of June." It's late January now, "before that I spent ten months in Freid with Prince Chid, until I got lonely."

"So naturally you go to Folken rather then your fiancée. I went to Freid many times to see Prince Chid, how come he didn't say anything?"

"I asked him not to tell anyone and it was complicated." Hitomi moved her eves from van, and stared off towards the wall.

Van couldn't take it anymore, he had to leave immediately. He was so heartbroken. His love had moved on as she said she would in the note, with his older brother, sure his older brother was more of a hunk, but twist the knife would ya.

"Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, I hope you two will live the rest of your lives in happiness." Van walks up to Hitomi, "Good bye Hitomi."

Van turns and leaves the room very upset. He goes to where he left Escaflowne and climbs and takes to the skies, transforms Escaflowne and returns back to Fanelia.
