Chapter Twenty-Eight

Our visit with Allen and Melerna went well, we went back home at the end of the week.

It was now a month and a half later. I was due any day now. Folken didn't want to leave my side, but now I really needed so time to myself.

"My dearest Folken, I know you're worried about me because the day is so near but would you mind if I have some time alone."

"If you need me for anything please come get me." Folken kissed my cheek. "I will be in my study."

I went to our bedroom to write letter to Allen and Melerna, just to tell them how I am. I gave the letter to a servant to make sure it went to Asturia. When I got back to the room I felt a pain inside, about an hour later I was in labour on the bed with Kang-Lin beside me.

"Please get Folken."

Kang-Lin rushed out of the room and ran down the hall and burst through the doors to Folken's study.

"Kang-Lin what…"

"Please sire its Lady Hitomi she is in labour."

Folken ran out of the doors nearly knocking down Kang-Lin and rushed to his dearly loved Hitomi.

"Folken."

After fourteen hours of cries in pain, sweat, the odd curse and Folken's now bleeding hand from my fingernails. The cry of a newborn was heard.

The doctor carried the newborn to me and said as he handed me the baby, "Congratulations It's a girl."

I held my new daughter in my arms. Folken sat by our side.

"Isn't she beautiful Folken?"

"Yes she is just like her mother."

We sat there looking at her for a long time. She was born with a little bit of hair, it was light blue like Folken's and her eyes were also like Folken's they were maroon.

"Folken…what should we name her?"

"How about Aiko (little love)?"

"I love it, Aiko it is."

Folken took Aiko out of my arms as I fell asleep. Folken held her in his left arm, he didn't want to cause his precious princess any discomfort. "Don't you ever worry I will always be here for you for what ever you need. If it's an ear, or to protect you, don't you worry." Folken whispered. Aiko fell asleep and her daddy continued to hold her for a while, but he was getting tiered so he put his princess into the bassinet.

Folken took off his cloths and laid down on the bed beside his wife.

~*~*~

A few days later the news of Folken and Hitomi's daughters birth and as soon as Allen and Melerna heard they were on their way.

They came in late afternoon. I was taking a nap. Folken was walking around the palace with his princess in his arms. She had on a pretty little light pink dress.

Folken turned the corner and saw Allen and Melerna come towards him.

"Now there's a sight I thought I would never see in a million years." Allen chuckled.

"Hello Folken, this must be your new bundle of joy. Oh she is so beautiful, may I hold her."

"Sure." Folken handed Aiko to Melerna.

Allen looked at her, "She is very beautiful, like her mother. What is her name?"

"Aiko."

"What a pretty name." Melerna said while still looking at her. "She has your eyes Folken, deep maroon eyes."

"Where is Hitomi?"

"She is resting, trying to recuperate from the delivery. It was pretty hard on her. My hand still bears the scars."

They all started to laugh quietly as Folken put out his hand, they had scabs on them.

"Hitomi's fingernails went deep into my hand."

"Has Van been by to see the baby?" Allen just had to ask.

"No he hasn't and I don't think he will, well not for a while anyway."
