Chapter Thirty-Six

Those five minutes seemed like an eternity. The rest of the night was great, I had so much fun and I didn't need any sake.

Van and Yukari looked so happy together and it would seem like it would last forever. A few days after the wedding tragedy struck.

"Van's what!!!!"

"Van, my brother, he is…he is dead."

"Dead no he can't be, he was alive and happy a few days ago." I fell to the floor on my knees holding the bedpost.

"He was murdered, they don't know who did it, but someone was out to get Van."

Folken went down on his knees beside me and held me. Van was one of my dearest friends I can't believe he's gone. I started crying and Folken held me, we stayed like that for hours.

"I hope Yukari is alright."

"If you want we can go see her."

"Okay."

"We'll leave in the morning."

We got to Fanelia in two days, we had a slow journey. It was a lovely two days.

We reached the palace and Folken and I went into the gardens and that is where we found Yukari. She was standing beside a fountain looking into the water.

"Yukari!" I called.

Yukari turned to face me. She was dressed in a long black flowing dress.

"Yukari I'm so sorry."

"Thanks Yukari." Yukari had a strange look on her face, not a grief she was happy she trying to act sad but you could see her true feelings in her eyes. I didn't catch on but Folken did and he got a sinking feeling that Yukari could not be trusted.

"Come for a walk with me Hitomi."

"Alright."

Yukari lead me up the mountains and we ended up and a huge drop off where you can see all of Fanelia.

I was looking at the magnificent view; I turned and looked back at Yukari. Next thing I know I had dirt in my mouth and I was hanging off the edge of the drop off. Yukari pushed me.

I was hanging off the edge of the cliff looking up at Yukari and she had an evil look on your face.

"Why Yukari?"

"That's what Van said right before I drove his own sword through his heart."

"You killed Van, but why I thought you loved him."

"I used him."

"You used him."

Folken was wandering around town when he heard a young woman yell.

"Oh my god! There's someone hanging off the cliff, they are going to fall."

Folken looked up and saw the that it was me and I was in danger.

"I wanted the power and I wanted his money. But originally I wanted to steal Van from you. I shot him on your wedding day and that was enough to drive you away. I would have never killed him. When I heard you talking about him I fell in love. I was jealous I wanted you to suffer so I drove you from your love, but you found happiness with Folken and I became jealous of your fairy tail life and I couldn't stand it. I was the one who tried to kill your beloved Folken but I failed but this time I'll make you lose everything including your life."

"Why have you become so evil?"

"Goodbye Hitomi." Yukari stepped on my fingers causing me to let go of the cliff and I fell.

Folken saw me falling and he unfurled his wings and flew as fast as he could to my plummeting body. I was screaming as loud as I could when I was 100 feet above the ground I felt warm, I felt my husband's arms around my body and I was rising.

"Folken…Yukari is evil, she murdered Van, she tried to kill me and she was the one who shot you. She used Van to gain power and money and now he is dead."

Folken saw Yukari run into the forest and he put me down on the ground.

"I'm going after her she has to pay for the danger she put many through and she is not fit to rule Fanelia she knows nothing about our culture."

"It's alright; she's not the Yukari I have known for all these years. She has changed and she is not who she use to be, do as you think is right. I don't know her."

Folken flew off after Yukari into the woods and it wasn't long before Folken caught up to her.

Yukari stopped and turned on a dive to face Folken.

"Well, well, well if it isn't the gallant Lord Folken."

"You are a blemish to the Fanel family name and you must be extinguished."

"Oh I'm so scared."

"You should be. Nobody threatens my family to bad it was to late to save my brother from you WENCH!" Folken reaches down to his side and draws his sword.

Folken charges at Yukari and stabbed her through the chest. Folken pulled the bloody sword out of the dieing body. Folken whipped the blood off his sword with Yukari's dress and put it back in its sheath. He picked up the lifeless body and flew up into the mountains. He came across a dragons den and laid her down and as soon as he left the dragon devoured her.

Folken's arms still had Yukari's blood on them when he found Hitomi where he had left her. Thankfully Folken was wearing his sleeveless top so there were no blood stains

He landed in front of me, "She is dead isn't she?"

"Yes, I'm sorry."

"She tried to kill me, her jealousy turned into hatred."

"Hitomi…"

"Come on Folken, let's get you cleaned up."

We went to a calm lake and I sat down while Folken was washing the dried blood from his arms. When he was done he came and sat down beside me and wrapped an arm around my waist.

"Is the baby alright?"

"I don't know I hope so."

"Is there anyway we can find out?"

"I could go back to the Mystic Moon and go see a doctor. Remember when I would go back to see a doctor every few months when I was pregnant with Aiko. It would be wise to do the same with this baby."

The Sun was setting it was beautiful ending to a traumatic day.

I still haven't fully accepted the fact that Van was gone, gone and he wasn't coming back. Van was going to die anyways weather or not we married. How could Yukari do this I though we were best friends. I started shedding a few tears. Folken saw this and held me tighter.

"Van is in a place of peace. There was no way anyone could have predicted his death. I know you miss him, a part of you still loves him, I understand." Folken knew what it is like to lose someone they loved very dearly, he lost

I fell asleep in Folken's arms.

Chapter Thirty-Seven

When I woke I was in the palace in Fanelia. Folken must have carried me back. Folken was already up and probably somewhere in the palace.

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in."

"Hi Hitomi."

"Merle, come and sit here on the bed, I have talked to you in a while."

Merle sat down on the bed, "I herd about the baby and I wanted to congratulate you."

"Thanks Merle. How are you doing, I know you and Van were really good friends."

"I miss him."

"Yukari is dead."

"What?! What happened to her?"

"Folken killed her."

"Folken killed her why would he do something so horrible?"

"Yukari tried to kill me she pushed me off the cliff. When I was hanging on for dear life se confessed to a few things. Remember when Van and I were supposed to get married but Van got shot."

"Yeah."

"That was Yukari, she shot Van, and she even shot Folken a few weeks ago."

"Why would Yukari do such a thing?"

"There's one more thing, you're not going to like this, I couldn't believe it. Yukari was the one who slaughtered Van."

"Oh my god."

"Folken didn't want such things out and ruin the Fanel name, and he didn't believe that Yukari would be able to rule Fanelia, She was so power hungry, she used Van to gain her wealth and power then she didn't need him anymore and disposed of him. Now Van is gone no matter how much I want him back I know it will never happen."

"I can't believe that Yukari she hid it very well."

"She was my best friend for so many years. I didn't even know this Yukari that was murdering or attempting murder. So I gave Folken the okay by me to go after her and he killed her."

"What about your fall is it going to affect the baby?"

"I don't know, Folken is going to take me to the Mystic Moon to go to the doctor to make sure the baby is fine."

"I hope everything will be alright."

"Me too."

The next day Folken took Aiko and I to the Mystic Moon so the doctors could check me and the baby out. We told them what had happened.

"You and the baby are fine, not to worry."

Folken was relieved so was I. As for Aiko she didn't know what was going on.

We decided we should go to Yukari's parents to tell them that their daughter is dead, just fail to mention that Folken did it.

We knocked on the door.

"Hello."

"Why Hello Hitomi, please come in."

"Arigato."

Folken, Aiko and I went in and sat down on the couch while Yukari's mother sat down in a chair.

"Who are your Friends Hitomi."

"Oh sorry excuse my bad manners. This is my husband of 2 years Folken and this is our daughter Aiko."

"Your daughter is very beautiful. Nice no meet you Folken." Yukari's mother looks at Folken's arm, "What happened to your arm?"

"It was bitten off and was replaced with this."

"Oh I'm sorry to hear about that. You have a charming husband Hitomi."

"That he is. We have come about news of Yukari."

"Really, how is my daughter?"

"I'm afraid she is dead."

"Folken. That's true."

"Oh my god. How did this happen?"

"I think it is best if we tell you from the beginning, Hitomi would you do the honor?"

"Well, two years ago was supposed to marry Folken's younger brother, who was the same age as me. But at the ceremony Van (Folken's brother) was shot, he survived, but I was scared someone was going to kill us if we got married. I was getting Visions that this marriage was not supposed to happen. Well it turns out it was Yukari that shot him."

"How did you know it was her?"

"I'll get to that. Well a year later I married Folken and we settled down and Yukari was jealous of my fairy tale life. She shot Van because she wanted Van all to herself and wanted his money and she would have great power. Since she was jealous of Folken and I she wanted it to end she tried to kill Folken, but failed."

"That still doesn't answer my question; I know Yukari wouldn't do such a thing."

"I wouldn't have believed it either but she tried to kill me. Five days ago she married Van and two days after that she killed him gaining the money and power. Yukari still didn't want me to be happy so she tried to kill me. She pushed me off a cliff, I managed to hang on and she confessed to everything the attempts of murder and Van's slaughter. I didn't want to believe it until she stepped on my fingers and I fell, plummeting to the ground."

The woman was in shock, "How can you still be alive?"

"Folken is a draconian (the winged people) and he has wings like an angel, he flew up and saved me."

Folken unfurled his wings to prove his beloved wife isn't crazy.

"How can this be?" The woman went to touch it.

"Don't touch it!"

It was too late she touched it and she saw, she saw the sadness of Folken's life up to the point where she saw her daughter die at Folken's hands. She saw the evil look in her eyes.

"That isn't my at Folken's hands. She saw the evil look in her eyes.

"That isn't my Yukari."

"It is."

"I couldn't allow the kingdom of Fanelia, A kingdom ruled but the respected Fanel Family be ruled by someone so cold. She also had to pay for the slaughter of my dear brother and putting the life of Hitomi and our unborn child in grave danger."

"I understand." There was a long silence. "You're having another baby Hitomi?"

"Yes, Folken and I are really excited, aren't we Folken?"

"Of course." Folken came down and kissed me.

"I'm so happy that you have found true happiness. I am so sorry for the pain my daughters put you through. Yukari changed I didn't know that girl. I appreciate you telling me."

"We must be going, I see Aiko has fallen asleep and Hitomi and I are needed back in our kingdom."

"Wait, your kingdom?"

"Yes, we live on Gaea and we are the king and queen of now two countries now, my brothers and our own."

"Where's Gaea?"

"It's a planet where we seen the earth (mystic moon) and the moon hang in the sky. It's a long story how I first got there."
