Vision Of Escaflowne Fan Fiction ❯ I hate you ... My love .. ❯ Give a good reason for me not to get married! ( Chapter 9 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

HEY! How is everyone! Better than me, I expect! Anyway, here is another chapter. Not that anyone reads this, but as this is my favourite fanfiction I will end it even if I have no reviews. Although you know I'd love to have many, many reviews!

Disclaimer - No, I don't own any of the original characters, but I own the ones I created and this story and anything else that came from my head and imagination!

"I hate you … My love"

As she reached to the end of the forest, she saw the same road from before, but the fortress was not there.

Only rocks and a great ravine stand on the other side of the road.

She did not stop. She crossed the road, and anyone would've seen her going straight to the rocks, but would also see her disappearing as soon as she reached it.

The rocks and the ravine, were not more than mere camouflage, and hologram that was why never anyone suspected of anything.

Luktor was smart, smarter than she had ever wished him to be!

Chapter 9: "Give a good reason for me not to get married!"

"YUKI!" - Yuki turned around to meet the blue eyes of a blonde woman. She was trying hard to catch her breath.

"Ureshiu? What's wrong?" - she asked as she put her hands on her friend's shoulders. Ureshiu looked up at her, tears in her eyes.

"I cannot find Satsu! Have you seen him around?" - Yuki reluctantly said no. That kid only brought worries to his mother. Although he was a wonderful child.

"But don't worry, he'll be back safe! He always comes back!" - Ureshiu relaxed a bit and washed away her tears. Right at that same moment, a child came running down the hall, all covered in dust.

"SATSU! What happened to you!" - the child came running to his mother's arms and started crying. Ureshiu made everything she could to calm him down.

Satsu was five years old. He had dark blonde hair and beautiful grey eyes.

"Mommy, I'm sorry! I got lost I the forest!" - he said between sobs.

"It's okay love! Are you okay!" - he nodded slightly against her.

"But I found something Mom!" - Ureshiu nodded for him to continue. - "I know where their fortress is hidden!" - at that, both Ureshiu's and Yuki's eyes widened up.

"Are you sure Satsu? Isn't it only your imagination?" - the child shacked his head furiously. Why wouldn't his mom believe him? - "Okay! Can you tell us where exactly is it?" - he nodded as he wiped off the remaining tears from his eyes.

"It's on the death Valley!"

"But child, we've already searched there, and there's nothing in that place! You've just imagined it!" - Yuki said promptly.

"Yie (I believe it means 'No')! They're using camouflage. Mom you've got to believe me! I know what I'm saying!" - the two women looked at each other and than back at the child.

"I believe you! But how are we supposed to know what to attack, when we can't see them?"

"I believe that during a battle they concentrate all their energy on that, and they turn off the Camouflage system. I'm sure that we can send a few Guymelefs to check that out mom! It will be easy, because they put all their Guymelefs in battle and leave the fortress unprotected. Don't you think?" The two women looked dumbfounded back at him. He didn't talk like a five-years-old child. Satsu laughed, felling uncomfortable with their stares.

"Maybe your right son! I believe we can convince Van to lend some Guymelefs for that mission, and if by any reason we can't still see the fortress they'll get back to the battlefield. Don't you agree Yuki?" - she just nodded. - "Great! Lets talk with Van immediately!"

At that same moment, Van was closed up in his room, lying on the bed, thinking that he only had one day left to choose a wife.

He would never choose someone just to get him an heir. It was against his principles, but he knew he hadn't mush of a choice; after all it was for Fanelia's well-being.

"My life sucks!" - he said to no one in particular. He looked out the window and watched the night sky. The night always made him feel a lot better. Darkness was somewhat comforting.

A knock on the door, took him out of his thoughts. He sighed with frustration and got up from the bed, going to open the door. He open it just a little bit, the needed to see who was outside his door.

"Van we need to talk! It's urgent!" - he sighed again and opened the door back, so that Ureshiu and Satsu could come in.

Ureshiu couldn't let but notice that he was all too depressed. «What's wrong with him?» - "Is everything okay Van? You seem … tired!"

"And I am! Tired of living!" - she didn't know what to say to that He had never talked like that. - "So? What brought you here!" - she took a deep breath before starting.

"Satsu has discovered where the enemy's fortress is!" - well, that got Van's attention. - "It's on the Death Valley!"

"That's impossible! We've already searched that place 100 times!"

"But they're using a camouflage system!" -Ureshiu continued.

"I believe that when they are in battle, all their energy is focused on that, and that way they'll leave the fortress unprotected!" - Van placed a hand under his chin, thinking.

"Maybe your right Satsu!" - Van patted his head and smiled at the boy. - "Your very smart! And I'm very thankful that you've found this out! But do tell me …how did you see it, if none of us could."

"I don't know! But I saw it! And than the beautiful lady came down the fortress and she was very nice to me!" - At that both Van and Ureshiu alarmed.

"A WOMAN!" - Ureshiu and Van both yelled at the same time. - "You never told me that part Satsu!" - Ureshiu said worried for his sake.

"Don't worry mom! The masked lady was very nice! She wouldn't hurt me!" - he said smiling.

"Did you said MASKED WOMAN?" - Satsu nodded his head. - "How did she look like?"

"Well …she had beautiful long black hair and piercing red eyes. And I do believe she's always using that mask! She said her name was …Memientes AH! And she had a sword with her!" - he finalised.

"It's her! I'm sure it's her!" - Ureshiu nodded in understanding. Satsu started yawning (I don't know if this how you say it. When we are sleepy, and we starts opening our mouths …just what I'm doing now, its' 00:27) and Ureshiu had to say goodnight and go to bed with him.

"Goodnight Ureshiu! Sleep well!" - she smiled and wished the same for him. After she was out, he went to the door and locked it.

He soon fell asleep thinking of that mysterious woman.

In the middle of the night, when everyone was already asleep, a dark figure emerged from the shadows, and with incredible agility she jumped off the great walls surrounding the Fanelian Palace.

Her black cloak danced with the wind, making her shiver a little. She walked to the back of the Palace, where the most beautiful gardens were.

Soon enough, she spotted another person in the garden.

It was a tall woman who also wore a black cloak.

"You wished to see me?" - the first one asked as soon as she was close enough.

"I see that our link s still intact! When did you come back?" - the second one asked, removing her cloak, revealing her ace.

"Eries, it's good to see you too! And answering to your question … it has been a few weeks!" - the princess nodded her head in understanding.

"I believe that it was at the same time you stopped contacting us!" - the other nodded. - "What's wrong? Why haven't you got back to the Palace yet? Wasn't that your main target since the beginning?"

"I wish I could … but things occurred … things I cannot control! I'm sorry Eries, but I don't think it is safe for you or Mussume to be n Fanelia right now!"

"Do not tell me that you're a part f this war?" - Eries asked without any emotion. And she continued as soon as the other nodded. - "Are you out of your mind? Fighting the only ones who ever helped you? The ones you love?" - Eries yelled back at her, anger flooding from her eyes.

"Don you think that this was my choice?" - she removed her cloak, also revealing her face, masked. - "I'm only doing this because he has my children! You'd do the same if you were in my place Eries!" - the princess nodded sadly. - "Please tell Mussume that I'm sorry for not going to visit him! It would be to dangerous for me to get into the Palace right now!"

"I believe you're not using your real name … am I correct?"

"Yes! My name is now Memientes!"

"Smart one! You always loved names with meanings didn't you?" - at that, Memientes smiled weakly. - "Have you heard the news about Van?" - Eries asked changing the subject. Memientes frowned.

"What do you mean?"

"Van is to choose a wife until tomorrow's evening!" - Memientes looked somewhere else, avoiding eye contact with Eries.

"What do I care anyways? That's not of my business!" - Eries smirked, a not very princess like act.

"Are you sure? I thought you cared!" - for long moments nothing was said, and so Eries continued. - "At least you did care about two months ago! Wasn't it?"

"Well, he can do whatever he wants with his life! I'm really surprised he's not marred yet!"

"Don't fool me! I know how you feel! Why don't you do something about it?" - Eries said stepping forward.

"What for Eries? It's not my business anymore! The only thing I want right now is … revenge!" - Eries frowned and stepped back.

"Revenge? But from whom?" - she asked somewhat scared.

"Kamatary!" - she said between teethes.

"Well … You do have a point there, but is it the right thing to do … I mean …"

"For me it is the right thing! I have to leave now! Take care!" - without another word she was out of sight. Eries sighed heavily.

As she walked back inside the Palace, she had this weird feeling that she was being watched.

When she was passing by a statue of a dragon, someone came from behind and placed a hand over her mouth, dragging her all the way to the library.

For as mush as she struggled, the person wouldn't leave her, and with panic she started crying.

"Calm down Eries!" - she heard a familiar voice say as she was released. She turned around, just to find face to face with …

"VAN?!?" - his eyes were as cold as ice. She could see he was very angered. - "What's wrong, and why did you drag me all the way here?"

"I believe you have some explanations to give Princess!" - he said angrily, rephrasing the word princess. Eries frowned under his cold glare.

"What are you talking about?" - Van started circling her, with his hands behind his back.

"Oh! But I believe you do!" - he stopped when he was right behind her, and Eries could feel his cold stare on her back. - "I saw you, about five minutes ago, back on the garden, talking to our former enemy! And you two looked quiet friendly, if I may add!" - Eries gulped, but said nothing, so Van just continued. - "Princess, you know that Fanelia and Asturia are allies … but …" - he started to circle her once again. - " … If your kingdom betrayed me, I would be forced to declare war, and I do not think that's your wish!"

"Van … this is not what it seems! I swear! I could never betray your country!"

"Then tell me what were you doing back there princess!"

"I was talking to an old friend! It's true that now she's part of the enemy, but she's not a bad person … she's being forced to fight! I can assure you that! Van you've got to believe me!" - Van looked deep into her eyes, and saw that she was telling the truth.

"I'll forget about this for now Princess … but I'll keep an eye on you!" - she nodded and sighed relieved. - "But there's a question I want to make!" - she looked up at him and nodded. - "You were talking about me, weren't you princess?" - her eyes widened up in surprise.

"I - I …"

"Tell me … what did you mean when you said that it was her business that I was going to marry soon?" - Eries couldn't get a word out of her mouth. - "You'd better answer my question princess, or I'll really think you were betraying me!"

"NO! I just said that because … you know her!" - Van's eyes widened up in surprise. - "And if you knew who she is, you would never marry any of those dirty princesses! And I really think you shouldn't do that nonsense! I mean … you always said you'd lie to marry the woman you love … and none of those princesses is the woman you love!" - she said it all in one breath.

"Yes! But the woman I love is already taken! What is for me to do? Tell me Eries?"

"Please, I beg you to wait a little longer! Ask your council to give some more time, I'm sure you'll find the right person!" - Van eyed her suspiciously.

"You talk like if you already knew that person!"

"Unfortunately I don't, but I'm sure she'll come soon!"

"I'm sorry Eries! But I gave my word that I would marry, and that's what I shall do!" - she nodded sadly and directed her gaze to the floor.

"I understand!" -Van walked up to her, and took her arm.

"Lets go Princess! It's getting late!"

Van leaded her back to her room and went back to his. But he was really suspicious of her. He would make sure to have one soldier watching her every move.

SUGOI! 5 PAGES! I think that's my record for this story. Yeah, I know it's still not mush! But I'm so tired … my eyes are burning.

Anyway, I hope you liked this chapter, and if you're too smart and you've figured out who Memientes is (which I find very hard to do), tell me and I'll say if you're right or not. But I'm sure you won't get there! :p

Well, see you soon.

Bye.
