Chapter 13

Hitomi sat lazily in the oversized tub. Bubbles floated on the water's surface shielding her body from view. She sighed and closed her eyes, letting her body relax heavily into the warm, soothing water. The smell of strawberries and peaches wafted in the air, surrounding her in a heavenly atmosphere. She could actually think in here. Thankfully Dilandau was snoozing… of course he had detained her for about an hour… or two, but that's beside the point.

She still hadn't gotten the chance to talk to him about what happened last night… or to tell him about her vision. Now that she had the chance to think about it, she could make out things that hadn't been able to at the time. The person surrounded in flames was a woman. She could tell by her figure and her long hair. Her eyes were a dazzling crimson and they burned with the intensity of the fire that surrounded her. She held two daggers in her hands. Two daggers with a green jewel embedded in each hilt. Hitomi snorted. `At least now I know where my daggers came from…' The more Hitomi thought about the more, sensible her thoughts seemed. This woman could very well be… Dilandau's mother.

He had her eyes, her passion for the kill, and they both looked demonic when surrounded by fire! The only difference would be their hair color. Dilandau had silver hair. The woman had dazzling red hair. But it could easily be said that Dilandau got his hair color from his father. Who his father was, she had yet to discover. She brushed her thoughts away, telling herself that she would ask him later about his past.

She sighed and let the jets soothe the tense muscles in her body. She didn't think she could be sore like her first time. She was evidently wrong. Her lower half throbbed with each movement. It was worth the pain though. He'd made love to her. She could actually tell the difference between this time and the last. The last happened on account of need. It was more her need the first time and more his that time in the forest. She'd been hurt with the knowledge that Van would never be able to love her. That was the reason she gave in so easily. Dilandau treated her as if… well he treated as if he was infatuated with her. He just happened to ask at the right moment.

That time in the forest was… she really didn't know what that time in the forest was. It was rough and angry, but pleasurable all the same. It had bordered on painful but he didn't go that far, although she knew he definitely could hurt her if he wanted to. He'd just been in a jealous rage…

`Wait!' She snorted and submerged her head under the steamy water.

`Dilandau? Jealous? Ha! I seriously doubt that! But… then again… why would he have reacted like that if he didn't feel anything toward me?' She sunk deeper into the waters. `I wish I knew how he felt about me…'

She let the noise of the jets fade into nothing and forced her body to relax under the water. She dulled her senses and concentrated on reducing the speed of her heart. She'd learned this a while back. It was a hiding tactic. She'd be able to stay underwater for an exceptional amount of time. So far her limit was about four minutes. She let her mind wander when she finally felt all her senses numb. She thought about the night before. Dilandau had briefly hinted that he had been to… doctors?

He was a schizophrenic. Well, he was forced to be one. Whatever the doctors did to him during his `appointments' wade him revert into a coldhearted bastard. This other personality was unnecessarily cruel and seemed to enjoy inflicting pain. Dilandau had also said that he didn't want her hurt as he had once been. Whatever that meant, she had yet to find out but it gave a little insight to his otherwise mysterious past. Perhaps it had something to do with the scars on his back and arm. She stored the information in the back of her mind.

"I didn't know how to love you…"

His words flooded back to her from last night and she felt her heart skip a beat. Obviously, if she wanted to think about these matters, it was best to do so when she was not underwater. She slowly let the air out of her lungs and rose to the surface of the water.

"Holy shit!"

She whipped her head to the side. Dilandau stood in the doorway… still naked. Not surprising. But he was looking at her like she was crazy.

"What?" She cocked her head to the side. He relaxed his tense form and walked to the side of the tub.

"I've been in here for almost five minutes now. How did you stay under there for so long?"

She rested her head back against the edge of the tub, thankful for the bubbles that covered the surface of the water. She closed her eyes and let her body relax with the hot water. "I learned it back home. My brother taught me how to do it. He used to swim… I wonder if he still does." She felt her chest tighten with memories of her family. She hadn't seen them in almost three years now.

She heard a splash and she felt the water move around her. "Dilandau…" She warned. He settled next to her. She still hadn't moved she was too relaxed. She felt his lips gently press on hers. It was sweet and soft. Just like the night before when she was able to calm him.

"I didn't know how to love you…"

She pulled back from the kiss reluctantly, "Dilandau, we have to talk… about last night."

He tensed and looked down at her. He expected this conversation but he was dreading it all the same. "It wasn't me… it was my old sensei." He shuddered at his own words and an angry scowl plastered itself on his face, "That bastard was trying to hurt you using me. I'd kill him again if I could."

Hitomi sat up, utterly confused. "What are you telling me? I don't quite… understand."

He sighed, "My sensei was a ruthless man who used to train me and my slayers before I took over. I killed him during training one day after I finally defeated him."

"Why?"

Dilandau shuddered and looked down at the scar on his arm. Hitomi caught the movement and ran her fingers across the deep scar, "He did this to you… and the other one as well. What else did he do?"

He stiffened and turned his back to her, "It's done. He's dead."

"It's not done if he is able to control you for periods at a time," She stood and walked over to him at the other end of the tub, "Last night he almost… raped… me… oh gods." She brought a hand to her mouth, her eyes widening at the implications of her words. Her fingers slowly traced the scar on his back and she relapsed into a dark scene.

She found herself in the training room.

"I'm sorry, sensei! I slipped on something! It will never happen again! I promise! I won't fail! I-"

She turned and watched as a small boy begged for mercy from his teacher. She winced when she saw the whip come in contact with the flesh of his arm. Blood flowed from the wound and landed soundlessly on the floor. She watched as the boy stood from the floor and ran toward the door. Horrified she reached out only draw her hand back quickly when the whip slacked across the boy's back… Dilandau's back.

"Stop it…" She whispered as tears started to form in her eyes.

"NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER SURRENDER! NEVER ADMIT DEFEAT!"

She whipped her head around and watched as a big, bulky man walked menacingly toward Dilandau. She didn't hear his words, but watched horrified as he tied Dilandau's hands behind him with the whip and then punched him. She sank to her knees and covered her gaping mouth with her hand, her tears spilling from her eyes.

"Please sensei…" She heard him beg as his teacher ripped off his shirt and pulled down his pants. "I won't do it ever again! I promise! Please! Don't do this! Stop it!"

She watched his futile attempts to escape. She brought her hands to her ears and dropped her head, her eyes shut tightly, "Make it stop… make it stop. I don't want to see this. Make it stop! Don't hurt him!" But it didn't stop. She heard him scream in agony and that's when she knew. He kept screaming and she curled in on herself begging that it would end already. His screaming eventually died down but she only knew it was over when he gave a final cry.

She slowly brought her eyes up and watched as he rolled over onto his side and vomited. He was lying in a pool of his own blood and vomit.

She heard his teacher chuckle and she shuddered. His mouth moved but she didn't hear his words. Her eyes slowly traveled back to the figure curled on the floor, his whispers barely reaching her ears.

"Never give up… never surrender… never admit defeat…"

He repeated the phrase until the vision finally faded. Her body was embraced and her body was trembling. She vaguely heard Dilandau calling her and finally snapped back. She opened her eyes and looked up into Dilandau's crimson orbs. She threw her arms around his neck and buried her head in his neck.

"I saw it… I know what he did… I couldn't do anything… I couldn't…." She sobbed into his neck, her body trembling.

He held her gently, soothing her. "It happened a long time ago… there was nothing you could've done. It's just something I'd rather not remember." He shuddered again and they stayed that way for a few moments in the tub until Hitomi finally relaxed. She pulled herself from his neck and looked up at him.

"You okay?" He whispered, wiping a single tear from her face.

She nodded and softly pressed her lips against his. "Don't hide these things from me… It's better if I just know. I won't have to see them in my visions… my visions!" She snapped her head up and looked at him, the vision from the night before popping into her head, "Did my daggers belong to… your mother?"

His eyes widened and his brows furrowed, "What did you see?"

"Last night, on my way to your room I had a vision. Well, it was more like a memory but it wasn't mine. I saw a woman holding the daggers. You and she have the same eyes except her hair is-"

"Red…" He finished for her. His eyes grew distant, "Yeah. She was my mother. She died when I was very young and I don't really remember her. All I know is that she was responsible for my father's death. I never knew my father…"

Hitomi processed this new information. `Could that have been what I saw? Did she kill his father in my vision? I can't say… I don't know what the man looked like…'

She sighed, bringing them both out of their thoughts. Hitomi looked up and a blush made it's way to her cheeks. Images from last night kept playing in her mind. "Did you mean what you told me last night, Dilandau?"

He looked down at her. He blinked… once… twice, "What?"

Hitomi sighed, shaking her head, "Never mind…"

`He didn't hear me… might as well not bring it up. Not yet at least. I still don't know how I feel about him…'

"We have to get to training." He whispered, planting a soft kiss on her forehead.

She groaned. She was sore. Training was going to be a bitch today and she was still feeling jittery about her vision, but she complied all the same. She stood and stepped out of the tub, wrapping a towel around herself. Unlike him, she had some reticence. She stepped out of the bathroom, leaving him alone to bathe.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He knew what she had asked him, he'd just pretended like he hadn't been paying attention. He still didn't know how he felt about her… or rather he knew too well and was bothered by it…

`What is she doing to me?'

End of Flashback

Hitomi sighed and made her way down the hall to breakfast. That day was still on her mind and since then they had to be very careful With the `doctors' tracking down Dilandau's every move, they couldn't see each other like they so desperately wanted to. They never really got the time to finish talking either. Hitomi never found out any more information about Dilandau's past and what she knew, she never told anyone. She did see Folken more often and they would have idle chats. It was somewhat awkward because she knew about the Fate Alteration Chambers now. And she knew that he had used them for various sexual purposes including her. Fortunately for Folken, she hadn't found out about that time with Van… yet. He only hoped she never would.

Hitomi grabbed her apple and banana as usual and headed to the training room. She ate quickly and threw out the remains. She bolted through the halls and made her way to the training room. She was always the first one there now. She walked in and closed the door behind her, locking it. Two hands rested themselves on her waist and she melted in his touch. His lips kissed her neck and she stifled a moan.

"Dilandau…" She turned and caught his lips in a searing kiss.

He pulled back and made small work of her clothes and his own. He lay them down on the floor and buried his head in her neck. "We really need to find a better place to do this…" He gently started to push into her body.

She moaned and gripped his shoulders, her body arching into him. "You say that everyday…"

A/N: Do not worry, there will be further information on Dilandau's past later on and Folken will soon get involved with someone. And no, it's not Merle. Why do I get the feeling that this story will be extremely long? Read and Review, Please and Thank You.
