Okay so I was supposed to be updating Numbers, but it just wasn't coming, and this was so…
Also I have no idea where I'm going with this because in my original idea none of this happened; it just ran away with me.
KD Sarge: you got an update!
dimonyo-anghel: hopefully all will be explained with time. Hopefully.
Chapter 3.
“What?” exclaimed four voices.
“The psych evaluations were a test, when you went for the evaluations you were in fact secretly tested, and enhanced.”
“What the f*&$ do you mean enhanced?”
Manx went on ignoring Ken's outburst, “The fact that Kudoh started blacking out meant that not only the testing, but the enhancement failed. He is in fact the only normal one of you now. Normal being used extremely loosely of course.”
Everyone ignored the snide comment, Manx had been on Kudoh's case since he refused to sleep with her.
“How are we abnormal?”
Manx ignored Aya, “Kudoh your blackouts should stop soon, now that the testing is over. It was only your brain's defence mechanism against invasion.”
“How are we abnormal?” The question was louder now.
“The doctors estimate another three weeks max.”
“How are we abnormal?” This time the question was screamed by Ken.
Hmm, just a few seconds more by her calculations.
Kudoh had pulled out his lighter a while ago and had been idly playing with it, a nervous gesture of a smoker who wasn't allowed to smoke in the kitchen.
“How are we abnormal?” The question was screamed again, the rage timed with the flicking of the lighter in Kudoh's hand, the flame flared up, much stronger than it should have been.
“Shit,” screamed Yohji as he flung himself back from the out of control flame, and at the same time closed the lid to his lighter, cutting off the source of the flame. Since nothing had been too close to the flame, it died as the rage of the `controller' died with it.
“Hn.”
“So Kenken's a pyro-whatchamcallit? Ha! Pyromaniac?”
“That's pyrotechnic Yohji-kun.”
“Pyrokinetic.”
Ken watched his fellow assassins argue about what his `powers' were labelled.
“Does it f^&%* matter? Kritiker messed with our heads.”
All eyes turned to Manx, “Well normally Aya would be right, but as far as we can determine Ken doesn't have the ability to start fires, just control them once they have been started. There's no actual name for it, but pyrotechnic is close enough.”
No one bothered to point out that Manx had evaded the question, Kritiker owned them and as such could use them for guinea pigs if they wanted.
“So when are we going in for training.”
Aya, the ever practical one.
“Manx-san, what can the rest of us do?” Omi's voice was small.
“Well Kudoh as said before is nothing special, Omi you seem to be able to have some sort of minor weather function and Abyssinian, well all we call tell is that you can do something, we just don't know what.”
“Hn. How did you `enhance' us?
“We basically got a telepath to go into your heads and identify first if you had any latent `powers' and since most people in the world are psis to one degree or the other it wasn't a problem identifying you guys as having the ability. We then got him to tweak it a bit so that it would become active. Kudoh didn't have any latent ability.”
Yohji sat back pondering the above statement, Manx was hiding something.
Ken finally had calmed down enough to ask a question, “Are you gonna separate us?”
Manx was surprised it was a good question, it was a bad idea to keep so many out of control psis together but still, “No.”
Something finally clicked in Yohji's head, “Who was the telepath?” Kritiker didn't know very much about the existence of psis in the first place.
“Schuldig.”
The statement may have been said calmly, but was not taken calmly.
“Are you out of your f^*%&$ mind?” Aya made a mental note to a) get Ken in some anger management class b) get him to watch his language in front of Omi and c) smack him (because he could).
“You let one of the enemy into our heads?” The question was hissed from Aya.
“How compromised are we?”
Yohji let Manx try to explain while he thought of the situation, having been a P.I. he was good at observing and making snap decisions. “How long have they been working for Kritiker?”
The question shut everyone up.
Manx had to grudgingly admit that Kudoh was very good.
“From the beginning.”
