Chapter 4: And please don't cry (revised chapter)

He heard slow footsteps that stopped at the door of his bathroom.

Brad just ignored the psycho. "He's happy," the white-haired man whispered.

"Who?" the American asked, annoyed by the interruption.

"God." he said softly and turned to go to his cell. He had sounded lifeless, maybe sad?

I don't care. Where are you, Schu? He tried to contact his lover, but found it impossible.

Then, a sharp pain passed through his head as the image of an unconscious Nagi in a strange bed, with Abyssinian sitting in a chair next to him passed before his eyes.

What did that mean!? Is Nagi in danger? What is that Weiss doing there!?

Brad Crawford was confused. And he was starting to get angry, but that anger soon became fear. Were Nagi and Schuldig alright? What if Takatori had them, or worse? What if Weiss had captured them? What if Schuldig just wanted to get away from him? What if...

He would have slapped himself if he hadn't been too concerned with trying to contact his lover. /Schu? You have to hear me! Don't ignore me! Where are you?/ he asked for the nth time. This wasn't normal. The redhead always answered him but for some reason, he wasn't listening.

The American felt his heart stop for a moment. In the case Schuldig couldn't hear him, it could be for a reason. He had to be unconscious or worse, dead.

The German wasn't dead or unconscious. He was just staring at Ken, his eyes and mind fixated on him.

After about twenty-five minutes, the brunette finally agreed to let Nagi stay there. However, he had said Schwarz would have to pay for his upkeep. He didn't want Schwarz's money, but he knew that when Aya discovered (that he was sure was going to happen), that Nagi was staying there, he'd be angry. Ken hoped that Aya's anger would be lessened with the monetary offering.

Schuldig felt the first real smile in years appear on his face. He had done it. He had saved Nagi, at least for some time.

The smile was evident too in Nagi's face when he hugged Omi and thanked him. Omi was back to his usual happy self, even if he looked paler than usual as he hugged his friend back.

Ken asked what was on everybody's mind. "What are you going to do about Aya? He's gonna find out sooner or later. We also have to hide your friend from Yo-tan. He can be almost as scary as Aya." he said, starting to think of his lover.

Schuldig saw the images in Ken's mind. Youji was angry. He could see him yelling at Ken, but he couldn't hear what he was saying. The only thing he thought he had seen was Ken's lips moving in a silent phrase, 'I'm sorry.'

Now the redhead felt curious. What happened? Why was Ken feeling so sad remembering that? Why was that Balinese bustard yelling at HIS Ken?

He would have loved to ask the brunette, but it wasn't the right moment. He had to go to Schwarz's headquarters or Brad would worry.

And he didn't want that.

Sometimes, a worried Brad could be worse than an angry one. "Well, seeing that everything's okay now, I'll leave. My love waits for me," he said looking into Ken's eyes //But the one I want to wait for me to come is waiting for me to go...// See you Nagi!" he said ruffling Nagi's hair playfully and giving the Weiss boys his best grin. "I'll come to see him soon." With this said, he waved his hand and turned to leave the shop.

But something stopped him.

It was Nagi, who hugged him from behind and buried his face on his back. "Gonna miss you…" he said softly.

"Same here" he sighed but didn't turn to look at the kid. He knew that if he did, he wouldn't have the strength to go back home, where Crawford was waiting for him. He removed Nagi's arms from his body and this time, he did leave the shop.

He placed the empty glass on the little table and filled it again with more water. Although this time he didn't touch it. "I'm going to leave the water here, okay? So if you wake up you can drink something. You know Aya-chan, you'll be really thirsty after all the time you've been here.." he paused to push a strand of blue hair away from her eyes. Then he sat back on his chair. "Yesterday... I thought Omi suspected something. Lately I can't stop it. I can't keep my eyes away from him.. And he noticed. He was uneasy about it. I felt it, and well, he asked me if there was something I wanted to say to him. Of course I glared at him, but I would have liked to say 'Yes, I love you, Omi. I fell in love with you the first time I saw you, and each day that goes by, I love you more'. But I can't say that. He sees a friend and I'm trying to be nicer... I don't want to scare him".

He walked towards the window and closed it. "Besides, I think he's in love with another person. I don't know who it is yet, but I think it's that Ouka brat or worse, one of our teammates. But I know it's not me, and whoever he's in love with, it's hurting him a lot." he sighed softly. "If I ever put my hands on the person that's hurting my Omi..." he murmured and looked guiltily at his sister. "Sorry, Aya-chan, I know you don't like me talking like that."

tsu zu ku...

huuuuu new chappie finished! Very short but at least is longer than the previous one. but there have been a few interesting things, and there are a few questions on the air.

not much to say about this one. I liked it. There wasn't a lot of Schu/Ken, but we've seen a lot of different things. Some things were obvious, other things were just hinted (but weren't obvious enought)

And I have to say I'm happy with this chapter, just cuz... RanRan's appeared! And he loves Omi. But if Omi loves Nagi... Well, I'll only tell you he's not gonna end up with KenKen, but there are lots of possibilities (he being alone one of them).
