A year later

High heel shoes clicked down the barren corridor with aluminium walls, long legs moving with assurance as the miniskirt moulded itself to the female's body. She was seductive with a perfectly formed figure, her red hair framing a beautiful face.

Only one thing marred this image. The cold calculating eyes staring out from the face, her thoughts on the male in the secret lab, code name Black Leopard.

Was it wrong of them to manipulate situations so that they could get what they wanted? She shuddered; she was the one who had thought of it in the first place, but then why did she feel regret now?

She missed him.

Aya and his team missed him.

She knew that Aya and Youji had been together, she saw the signs even if Aya didn't see them himself at first. It was when she discovered this that she knew how they could get Youji and she told Persia, the man behind Weiß Kreuz.

He gave her full authority to do what was necessary to get Youji to join Shadow and become the BL experiment…

…So she contacted Knight and told him where he could find Aya. She had hoped that Aya would see what was clearly staring right at him but…

Hardening herself against these useless thoughts she straightened her back. Stopping in front of a thick steeled door she waited as the laser travelled over her eyes, her finger tips being checked at the same time. One slight difference and she would be nothing but burnt offerings. She smirked at this, a female voice saying clearly, "Identification confirmed M.a.n.x; please enter." The door opened and she slipped unnoticed into the side room with the one-way mirror.

Doctor Aaron Arid was the one who had made it possible for the memory transference. A new experiment that was perfected just before Youji said yes.

Looking up she watched the two males who would change history if it was ever released, smirking she sat down and crossed her long legs waiting patiently.

Her eyes appraised the Black Leopard a gleam was evident in her eyes; it was a shame he was not into women…a great shame. She pressed a button waiting as the screens in front of her blinked on. Black Leopard and Doca, as Shoji liked to call him both engrossed in what they were doing.

He barely broke out into a sweat as he ran on the treadmill, wires stretching across from his body to the machines all around him, the numerical data analysing his physical condition which from what could be seen was damn near perfect.

His raven black hair was in a tight braid down passed his shoulders, a few strands falling over his eyes, long black eyelashes lazily closing over emerald depths that were cool and calculating. Her eyes travelled down the long body that had filled out a little, his broad shoulders tapering down to his trim waist and slender hips, long legs with just the right amount of muscle, his ass wrapped in spandex shorts that clung to every inch of his well toned flesh.

Her tongue flicked out to wet her lips as her throat suddenly became dry. But it was not this that had her thinking she wouldn't mind seeing him totally naked, no, it was the tattoo she wished to see all of.

A black leopard dominated his back with its tail she knew that was wrapped around his left leg. The head of the leopard with Shoji's eyes lay against his left shoulder watching you with a piercing intensity, his right shoulder had the leopard's right paw with long claws shaped liked knives lying there casually.

She shuddered. She was not sure if it was with fear or something more sensual. He was the epitome of sex, danger, mystery, and a predator that was very lethal wrapped up in a perfect body with a face so beautiful, flawed only by a small scar just under his full bottom lip.

"Perfect form as per usual Shoji."

Ignoring him Shoji could feel eyes watching him, not exactly an unpleasant feeling but he hated it none the less, especially when he was exposed. Turning towards the mirror he smirked, his husky voice drawling, "Manx how nice of you to drop in."

Dr Arid jerked his head up his glasses fogging up, "how did you kn…" he stopped himself remembering who he was talking to.

It never failed to amaze him, his experiment, his pride and joy was so perceptive…it was frightening at times. He would never try to sneak up on Shoji, he tried once and nearly had a black dagger embedded into his throat, and what made it worse was that it had happened so fast he was on his back with a very cold Black Leopard warning him if he ever did it again he wouldn't hesitate to use the dagger on him.

Needless to say, Dr Arid believed him and never made that mistake ever again.

Manx shrugged and smiled to herself, watching as Shoji pulled all the wires out from his body, letting them know he was finished. He was not easy to control and she was not sure if this was a good thing.

Youji was a different personality all together from the Black Leopard yet there minds melded together perfectly. It was as if they were made from the same mould. It was uncanny…it even amazed Doca.

His exact words, "Youji is highly receptive to BL, it was as if they were made for each other."

The hard part was taking Youji's memories away, extracting everything that could make him remember his past.

Dr Arid also implanted a safe guard, a small chip that prevented any interference especially from outside sources, but he didn't concern himself too much. BL had a strong mind to begin with and overtook any weaknesses Youji might have had. His emotions he kept on a tight leash.

His code name was not given lightly; no it truly represented what his character was.

Standing Manx opened the door and made her way towards them as Shoji went towards the shower room not saying a word to either her or Dr Arid.

"How was he really Doca?" She smiled inside knowing he hated that name but called him this anyway.

Frowning at his nickname Aaron put his mind to his favourite subject. "He was excellent though a little distracted today," brushing his messy brown locks upwards only to settle down back down into the same place again.

Manx frowned not happy with this. "Distracted, what do you mean distracted? You don't think he is getting his memory back?"

Aaron smiled at her like she was a little child saying soothingly, "Calm down my dear, there is no way he will ever be Youji again. That part of him is gone, dead.

Yes…Youji is truly dead; he is now Shoji Ruyusaki, code name Black Leopard.

Manx felt no elation at this, no she felt guilt and it always affected her when she gave Aya and his team a new mission. He had changed the day they were notified of Youji's death. A change that was not for the better.

She had hoped that by making Yuuishi the newest member of their team that he would be able to influence Aya in some way but it didn't. If anything it made him worse, colder…if that was at all possible.

"Are you alright Manx?" concern shining out of Doca's grey eyes.

Ignoring the question she moved on to what was important to Kritiker. "I need to know why he is distracted Doca. We have a lot riding on this and we do not need any complications when he joins Shadow."

Cold grey eyes calmly stared into hers; no one interferes with his pride and joy, no one, not even Kritiker. "Dear Manx, he is only distracted because he has been down here too long, he needs to get out. You have to remember that he has Youji's body and we may be able to take the memories away but the body will still be able to feel certain things."

"Like what?"

Exasperated Aaron turned his back on her, losing his patience. He was a scientist, doctor and he believed that those that worked around him understood what he was saying. It was damn obvious to him, even to an idiot. The trouble with Kritiker is they only pursued what was good for them not really caring about who they used as long as they got what they wanted.

"Freedom for one thing, even the Black Leopard loved his freedom and he had certain needs…of the flesh kind." Aaron blushed at these words, his thoughts on the perfection in the shower cubicle.

Manx had to stop herself from smiling. Yes Youji was the flirt and Black Leopard attracted attention where ever he went from both sexes. He wasn't as self-indulgent as Youji had been, no BL had better control and wouldn't let anything interfere with his mission. Doca was right; he had to get out, and now.

"Alright he will be released at 1800 hours. Make sure that he is prepared to leave with all his equipment."

Aaron was pleased for his, dare he say it, friend, but he also felt sad. He has become quite attached to BL, as much as one possibly can with someone of BL's calibre.

He nodded, "he will be ready." Frowning he turned to her, "will I still be able to do tests on him?" his heart for some reason beating faster than normal.

"Of course, no one else is to lay a finger on him and besides, BL has stated quite clearly that only you are allowed to touch him." she could understand this, he didn't trust many people, in fact he didn't even trust her.

She didn't blame him.

Smirking Aaron felt pleased hearing this. Not really sure why.

***

Shoji embraced the heated water that enveloped his body trying to wash away his thoughts that he just couldn't understand. He felt there was a big gap in his life that was missing.

Doca had told him that the accident would be the cause of this. The car was a right of and the driver had been killed. His friend and comrade Letsuna was the driver who had died instantly on impact. It is this part he just couldn't remember.

Even his body responded differently, had urges that he usually had better control over. This he remembered and right now, he needed a cigarette, it was that bad he would kill to have one.

Shaking his head as if to rid himself of this addiction Shoji concentrated on washing himself. Smirking as the soap caressed over his wet flesh, his muscles rippling as a sensual feeling rushed through him.

Yes he had urges but knew how to control them; they were no good to an assassin like himself. It was dangerous to get attached to another, he had learnt the hard way and promised himself never again.

The Red Fox, yes he was cunning and he had used Shoji for his own ends, making him who he was now, the Black Leopard. He should be thankful to the red headed bastard but if he was to see him now he would have no hesitation in killing him…not anymore.

//Flashback//

"Shoji you don't take things seriously, one of these days it is going to get you killed."

Looking at the redhead, Shoji just shrugged his shoulders, "maybe, maybe not."

Callan chuckled then became serious. "Number one rule in this business Shoji, trust no one, especially those closest to you. They can be used against you and even made to turn on you if the price is right. Always remember that my beautiful Shoji."

"I will try to remember Red and I am not your Shoji." He smirked at this, his heart beating faster as the tall red head made his way towards him knowing full well that he never belonged to another as much as he did to the Red Fox at this moment. This should have unnerved him but it didn't.

Callan smirked his seductive words making Shoji tingle all over, "oh but you are mine Shoji, and I intend to keep it that way until…" His long slender finger slid down Shoji's neck unbuttoning the silk shirt that encased the perfect chiselled chest.

A soft moan escaped from Shoji's lips as fire burned from the finger touching him, he caught his breath as the same finger now teased around his right nipple his body reacting heatedly at Callan's words.

"You belong to me Shoji, I possess you, have possessed you and I will kill any other who so much as looks at you." The words were whispered but the threat; promise could be seen in the deadliness of dark green eyes.

Shivering Shoji gave into the heat and desire, he was never one for denying when he wanted something and right now he wanted the Red Fox buried deep inside of him, moving against him as he hit that sweet spot that Callan found with delicious accuracy.

Hot lips devoured him, "Mine. All Mine!" A wet tongue wrapping around his causing a friction that shot all his thoughts to hell, his cock twitching as the heated rush engulfed him.

Shoji trembled as his emotions ran riot through him, his words causing the red head to growl hungrily. "Yes I'm yours."

//End Flashback//

Sneering he slammed the tap, turning the water of.

His body had betrayed him, his arousal painfully wanting release. He refused to give into this hot emotion, it nearly cost him his life once, and he always learned his lesson from the first time.

Willing it down Shoji gripped the side of the washbasin, knuckles painfully white.

He remembered their last encounter but the outcome seemed to elude him. All he could remember was the gun he pointed at Callan, and staring coldly at the gun that was aimed at his head. A shot was fired but after that…Nothing!

"Let it go Shoji that is the past, the future is what you need to deal with now."

Staring at himself in the mirror he felt he was looking at a stranger. His eyes were still emerald, his skin golden, long black hair, and the scar beneath his bottom lip but there was something different.

Smirking coldly he looked away and began to slip on his black leather pants, leather boots and a black turtleneck jumper.

He was being paranoid and that is not a healthy sign. He was slowly going crazy being cooped up here; he had to prove to Manx that he was ready to join the new team Shadow.

He had studied the records of each member carefully and he was drawn to the leader Shinzo for some unknown reason. This was very rare for Shoji; he took no interest in anyone or thing, just his trusty Beretta 92 and the ancient dagger Scorpion that he had acquired from a mission two years ago.

The fact that the leader of Shadow was a damn good looker didn't help, he smirked at this but he was a sucker for blondes with sapphire eyes, or was it emerald eyes…whatever he was interested so he had to safeguard himself at all costs.

He was being paid to do a job, because that all this was…a very well paying job and one that he revelled in. Cleaning the trash that littered the streets like blood sucking vermin, preying on the innocent who were stupid enough to get caught in the first place.

Yeah he was a cynic but life had bit him in the arse and now he didn't care anymore. He had the Red Fox to thank for that, he taught him a valuable lesson about trust, a fucking good lesson.

Callan was his lover, comrade and friend but in the end he had betrayed him to the highest bidder. Now they were great enemies and he has not seen him for two years.

Two years of broken fragmented pieces of memories that he was struggling to fit together again since the accident. His last memory of them being in the same room was when they pointed there guns at one another…

"Shoji, Manx has to leave but she needs to see you first?"

Breathing in deeply Shoji put on his mask, "Coming."

Strapping his gun holster to his right thigh he felt for his berretta, reassured that it was close to him, his dagger strapped to his left thigh. He taught himself to use both his right and left hand for both weapons. In his business accidents were liable to happen; only a fool would think otherwise. They were not the only weapons he normally carried on his persons, he was not the Black Leopard for nothing.

Straightening he began to braid his hair walking out of the bathroom his eyes falling on Manx straight away, watching her every move like he always did.

She was hiding something. He saw it in her posture; it was the same thing every time she came to visit. Did he trust her? No, she had yet to earn that.

Doca? He was just his doctor and maybe the only person who truly worried about him. Nobody else did, not that he cared…he really didn't.

Folding her arms Manx nodded towards him, "I have good news for you?"

"What time?"

Manx looked puzzled, "excuse me?"

"When will I be picked up?" He smirked watching her coolly with a glint in his eyes, noting the flash of discomfort that appeared in her eyes.

Forcing herself not to swallow she shrugged instead, "1800 hours tonight. Just be ready and make sure you have all your equipment and gear. Tomorrow I will take you to meet your new team."

"The new mission starts tomorrow?" Yes Manx I am no fool, the sooner you learn this, the better.

She nodded stiffly. "Yes, you will be briefed with the rest of your team tomorrow."

"Fine, I look forward to it." Flicking his braid over his shoulder he turned away as if he was dismissing her.

She wanted to slap him…and really hard. He was, he was…words failed her.

Calming herself she wished he was still Youji. He was a real gentleman and would never have treated her like this.

It didn't help that the face she looked at was Youji's, the dark hair made a difference and the scar but it was definitely Youji's face. She just hoped that Aya's team never bumped into them because they were on the same mission that Shadow was going to be made a part of.

It was a big risk but a risk that they had to take. Besides there is no way that Shoji would ever answer to the name of Youji.

As for the mission, it was not a pleasant one and that is why Shadow will be needed. They were a different breed from the other teams and each member was unique, there backgrounds very similar.

Killing was nothing to them and how they killed didn't bother them either. No…they killed those that got in their way…no matter who they were. Innocent, guilty it was all the same to them, torture being there favourite way of getting information. Yes they were very different…

Aaron watched her quietly and smiled to himself. He was very proud of his protégée and was protective of him. That is why he would never tell her of the little piece of Youji he couldn't take away from him. It was only a small memory and he was not sure what it involved, but nothing could remove it and there was no way in hell he was going to let Kritiker ever find out.

He had planted another chip around this memory which will give him pain every time it tried to come forward, not too much but enough to make Shoji let it go.

Besides, the Black Leopard had completely taken over and that is what mattered.

Weiß Kreuz Apartment

"Omi you can't fucking do it, it is too fucking dangerous. I will do it!"

Yuuishi shook his head saying calmly ignoring the looks of kill he was getting from the brunette, "You know very well Ken that you just don't look the part, Omi does. He has that young boy look that they are looking for." Yuuishi turned to look at Aya's back, frowning.

"I am not fucking talking to you Yuuishi this is between me and Omi--"

Losing what little patience he had Omi stood up abruptly, snapping hotly, "Give it a rest Ken!" He was pleased to note that not only had he shut Ken up he had also gotten Aya's attention, which these days was a miracle.

"The decision was mine to make, I said yes so end of story!" God he wished Youji…

He felt a lump in his throat turning his back on his team-mates. He walked towards the fridge grabbing a bottle of water. He quickly blinked to stop the tears from falling, trying to forget the pain he still felt from Youji's death a year ago.

They all felt it except Yuuishi. He didn't know Youji like they did, never saw him when he was protective and caring towards them all, even towards Aya the Ice King.

What had shocked Omi the most was Aya's reaction to Youji's death. The anger, the violence, the way he shut himself of even more. The bigger shock came when Aya moved into Youji's room leaving Yuuishi to his old room.

Turning, his eyes widened seeing Aya standing right in front of him.

"Are you prepared?" Intense amethyst eyes watched him carefully.

Omi nodded, "I can do this Aya."

"I know. We won't be too far away."

Smiling Omi nodded again, seeing the promise in Aya's eyes. "Thank you Aya."

Shrugging the red head made his way to the stairs, "besides Manx said there will be another team on this mission."

Yuuishi frowned, why wasn't he told about this and by the looks of the other team-mates they didn't know either. "Which team?"

Aya smirked not understanding why he was so intrigued with the new team that Kritiker have newly formed under them. "Shadows…the darkness following sunset…they come." Yes very intriguing to him.

Omi looked towards Ken who lifted his shoulders with a blank look on his face. No he had never heard of them either.

"We will not be joining forces it is forbidden," he shook himself, Manx was adamant about this, "Manx's orders of course."

Yuuishi was not happy, saying hotly, "Why weren't we told this at the briefing?"

Aya glared with impatience, "because I am telling you now. Someone from Shadow is already working at the nightclub as a dancer that is all you need to know."

"Fuck Aya we have--"

"End of discussion!" Aya stormed up the stairs ignoring the others. He was tired and wanted to prepare himself for the mission. Though he will never admit it outwardly, he was worried about Omi and would do everything in his power to protect him.

Undressing Aya took his clothes off and stiffened as the door handle to his room rattled. He was only glad he locked the door. "What do you want Yuuishi?"

"Open the door Aya this is ridiculous."

"No!" He was not in the mood to get into a fight with the Knight; he was tired and had more important things on his mind.

Folding his clothes neatly he walked towards Youji's wardrobe and pulled out an emerald Kimono with white embossed Sakura blossoms.

He slipped it on and sighed when he felt the silky material against his skin, the scent of Youji long gone. Hugging his slender form he ignored the banging on his door, looking around the room that had Youji's signature stamped all over it.

Regret eating at him. Regret and guilt…Youji…

Closing his eyes for a moment, Aya sighed heavily and made his way to the king size bed, slipping between the black satin sheets still wearing the Kimono that once belonged to his ex lover.

Holding the pillow close to him he imagined that he was hugging Youji, saying softly so that only he could hear, "I miss you Youji." The pain in his chest made him flinch; years of training helping him to push it back down.

He had to protect the rest of his team-mates; he was not going to lose another one.

No…he would kill everything that got in his way of protecting them!

***

Yuuishi glared at the door and stiffened as Omi came up behind him.

"You can't make him feel something when he is not ready; you should know this about Aya."

"Mourning over Youji is not the answer either Omi. It has been nearly a full fucking year; it is time for him to live again!" With frustration his strong hand brushed quickly through his golden hair, his golden eyes darkening with strong emotion.

Omi shook his head smiling sadly, "he has to want to live before he can Yuuishi. Forcing him is not the answer; in fact it will make things worse. Aya is stubborn and will only do things when he is ready not when you think he should be."

Surprised Yuuishi could only stare at his younger team-mate, who at this moment was wiser then all of them put together. Smiling, he placed his hand on Omi's shoulder, "I see why they need you Omi."

Embarrassed Omi's face went bright red and turned to walk away. He liked Yuuishi, but…

But what Omi?

He wasn't their Youji.

Omi smiled at Yuuishi. No he wasn't Youji but he was still their team-mate and that is what mattered for now.

"Goodnight Yuuishi."

"Night Omi." He watched as the little blond opened his door and made his way to his own room.

Ken nodded towards him and he knew that the brunette would never like him. It didn't really matter because the only person he cared about was the stubborn red head who was still buried in his ex lover's shadow. One day he will come out into the light and he would be waiting…
