Chapter Seventeen
Final Chapter
Robin layed in the hospital bed, looking out of the window at the street below. After three days there, she was getting impatient about getting out. She sighed and hoped someone would come and see her, something to break the monotony of just laying there.Final Chapter
She smiled at her Grandfather, as the man walked in to the room as if on cue with her wishing.
“ You are looking better today, my child.” He said, beaming.
“ I am just wanting to get home, Grandfather.” She said, smiling.
The man brought a chair from the other side of the room and sat down beside her.
“ I have some news for you.” He said, looking into the girl’s face with a warm smile.
“ You do?” She asked, excitedly.
The man nodded.
“ First off, we have found the Chief.” He said. “ He’s alive and well, although a little battered!”
“ He was?.” Said the girl loudly, her heart leaping with joy at the news.
The priest nodded and looked at the girl.
“ They had put him int a storage place, and he had been drugged. One of the SOLOMON people searching the dead men’s clothing found the key and address in a pouch underneath the armor worn- the rest was quick thinking.” He smiled again. “ The one that had perpetrated the fake SOLOMON person was the one you flamed in the face, that is why he had to knock out Michael, because the boy would have asked what happened to his face... and that little thing could have tipped Michael off.”
Robin felt relieved with the good news. She had heard about the Chief, at a briefing the other day in her hospital room with everyone else. She also had found out about the Syndicate’s plan of stealing the ORBO and the plot to eliminate the STN-J at the same time.
The priest smiled broadly, it made his heart good to see a glow on his granddaughter’s face. He leaned in and looked her in the eyes.
“ I have more news.” He said, his eyes sparkling brightly.
“ Is it about how you know about my pregnancy?” She asked wide eyes.
“ You only have to hear one thing, to know where I got that information from...” He said with a smile. “ Nagira.”
Robin giggled. She should have known that Nagira to save their skins, might chance something like that. She felt so thankful for the resourceful man, she was not even mad that he had told her Grandfather about it all.
Amon came in right then, walking stiffly as his arm was in a sling across his chest. He grinned and hurried over to the bed.
Amon leaned in to the girl, kissing her gently on the cheek.
“ Did he tell you the news?” He asked.
“ Yes, he told me about the Chief... I’m glad he’s fine.” She nodded.
“ No, No!!” He Chuckled softly in response to the girl’s words. “ Some other news.”
“ With Nagira?” She asked again.
The reply of the man was a larger laugh than before. Robin looked at her man, and was extremely puzzled with the man’s laughter.
“ No....” He looked to the priest, almost questioningly.
Father Juliano chuckled deep in his chest, making it reverberated through the room.
“ I have not, Amon.” He said, stopping his laugher a little to talk. “ We should tell her then.”
Robin’s face fell a little bit. In her eyes, was a little bit of fear.
“ About us?” She asked hesitantly.
“ It is, my child.” Said the priest calmly.
He smiled, and Robin saw that it might not be bad news. She just nodded, hoping the man would clear all of this up.
“ I admit I was not too sure of how to feel about you two having a baby out of wedlock like this...” He said, then his broad face burst into a smile. “ But after meeting Amon over the last little while, and hearing that he had asked you to marry him... I could not be happier for you.” He reached out and put a hand on the girl’s hand. “ I bless this union wholeheartedly, and have bless him for you two to get married.”
Robin’s face burst into a large grin and she looked up at the man she loves so much. He too was looking down at her, a smile that could not be bigger was plastered on his face. He leaned over and give her a kiss right on the lips.
The locked lips for some time, until the purposeful coughing of the priest made them stop. They looked over at the man, both of them were blushing, but Robin was brighter than either of them.
“ Thank you, Grandfather.” The girl said, her heart soaring.
“ That is only half of it, but it is a much bigger surprise than that. “ The Father said, winking at Amon.
“ W... What does that mean?” She asked, as the good news was coming right and left..
Amon moved to the other side of the room, and she saw he had brought in her cloths with him, she had not even noticed..
“ You are going to have to leave this hospital and come with us.” He smirked. We have a surprise for you... and for everyone else back at STN offices.”
The girl did not have to be told twice. She was up and out of the bed in a flash. Father Juliano just left the room, speaking as he did over his shoulder.
“ Amon will help you dress, my child... but we have to hurry though.” He urged with love in his tone.
Robin looked at her man, a questioning gaze was put upon him. He laughed and looked at the girl.
“ Trust me.” He said, adding. “ Your grandfather was the one who gave me the idea, and even helped me...your going to love it.” He paused. “ We will tell you soon...”
Putting her trust in the man, she let the one armed man help her dress. With her arm in a sling too, they both had to work hard to get her dressed. It was not that slow going to dress her, but they did have a few giggles about it along the way.
About two hours later, everybody was gathered at the offices. They were all looking at one another, not knowing what was going on.
“Does anyone know why we were asked to gather here like this?” Asked Karasuma, looking around.”
“ No one told me squat!” Piped in Michael, looking at Miho and then a quiet Haruto. “ I was just told all of you were going to be here.”
“ Don’t look at me...” Dojima said, shrugging her shoulders. “ I am in the dark about it too.”
All of them looked t the chief, who sat at his desk. By the look on his face, all of them knew he knew something. Michael looked at the man for long minutes, his curiosity growing as she did.
“ Are you gonna tell us what is up, Chief?” Michael asked, directing his question loudly to their boss.
The man did not answer, but copped a smiled and looked away. All of the others just looked at one another, as they had no clue just what was going on. It was clear that something was.
An hour later, the group noticed that the chief had disappeared. They all were surprised, as he had been there only seconds ago.
“ What the fuck?” Sighed Michael, looking at his comrades. None of them had seen the man leave.
As the group talked amongst themselves, someone came in to the room. They all turned, and looked. A gasp of understanding flooded through each person’s face.
Father Juliano was dressed in the finest robes they had ever seen carrying a large black bible with a huge golden cross on the front. He walked to the front of the room and turned around.
The Priest’s face beamed a smile broadly to the room, as he regarded everyone one at a time in order.
“ I guess you are now figuring out why you are all here at this time of the evening.” He said.
Dojima suddenly smiled broadly, as she was the first of the group to get it.
“ A wedding? Robin and Amon’s wedding?” She said excitedly.
“ The cat’s out of the bag.” He said, his voice bursting with happiness. “ Let’s get this show on the road.”
The wedding march came out of nowhere, as a very nervous Amon came out of the area near the elevators.
In a very smart looking tuxedo, he looked very handsome. From the traditional tails to his hair tied back in a smart looking ponytail and a grey bow tie, he looked as dapper as could be. He took his spot next to Father Juliano, you could see the sweat collect on his square brow.
Nagira also was near the man, dressed in the exact same thing, only not looking quite as smart as Amon was. He seemed absolutely uncomfortable in his tux, pulling at the tight collar as he stood there. He was trying to stand still, but the man really did not like the tux he was wearing.
A hush came over the group, as the music swelled to a higher volume. They all waited to see the young hunter make her grand entrance.
Robin appeared, her arm still in a sling like Amon, but that was not even seen by the people gathered there.
Dressed in a white gown, that was a traditional Italian gown. It had long sleeves that were tied at the cuffs with a soft ivory colored ribbon, that sparkled in the low light. Her face was covered with a lace veil, that could not hide the shining green eyes of the girl beneath it. She was holding a bouquet of white roses in her hand, that was matched up with a snow white wrap of silk and had her initials of R.S on it.
The girl stood there and looked down at her man that was waiting beside her grandfather and the very jittery best man. She seemed calm enough, but a little shake could be detected if you looked at the bouquet in her hands.
The veil was long, ad trailed back behind her for a few feet was being held by the beautiful Touko, dressed on a very soft blue gown. Everyone gasped, as the whole thing was so stunning, like a dream in a fairy tale Even Miho was seen tearing up at the sight of the young bride, as the woman was not known for showing her emotions.
Robin made her way across the office floor towards her man, her eyes never leaving him once. Touko handed the girl off to the smiling large man, and winked at him.
“ Take care of here... you here?” She whispered with a smile. “ Or else, buddy boy...”
“ You know I will.” He said, beaming a large smile to the dark haired matron of honor.
The couple turned to face the ecstatic looking priest, their hands clasped together tightly, as their wedding party took their respective places on either side of them.
“ Dearly beloved...” Began Father Juliano said, his happiness ringing through his deep baritone voice. “ We are gathered here today, to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony.”
The two in front of Father Juliano, could not stop smiling. Their hearts were overjoyed, their love was right there. They were happy. On with the wedding, their hearts sang.
