Chapter Six

Two o’clock rolled around as dark clouds were dumping rain on the night time Tokyo. It was not the thunder that crashed in the heavens, but a pained heart, that was causing Robin to not get some sleep.

Miho had taken her to her small house, which was located in a upper middle class neighborhood on the northern edge of the city. Robin had found herself telling everything to her friend over a pot of tea. She never was this free before, but her heartbreak drove every small syllable she said.

The hunter woman just listened very intently to her young co-worker in silence, comforting her when she broke down a few times and reassuring her of herself in the small gaps of silence.

The young girl found herself laying out everything to her, not wanting once to hide anything from the woman.

Robin was grateful for the understanding the woman was exhibiting, as they always seemed to have a connection together since she had joined. This made the young craft user feel as safe as she use to with Amon. Oh, how things do change.

Miho had given her a room that was built in the attic, when it was time to try and get some sleep. It was not much more than a smallish bed and a old paint cracked dresser in there, but it was comfortable to the young girl. Robin had tried to sleep for over a hour or so, but sleep was evading her at every turn.

In the darkness of the room, Robin sat on the window seat, looking out at the dark night. She gazed out in deep thought at the heavy storm that was raging, as the faint light from the street bathed her naked body with a soft glow. Her heart was heavy, as the visions of seeing her lover in her bed with another, raged through her mind. A tear migrated down her face.

Her mind was playing that scene over and over in her head, as her heart pounded deep in her chest. She lowered her head slowly, as her sadness began to creep up once more. She felt more tears beginning to form in her.
“ Oh, Amon!!” She whispered to the darkness, as she just wondered what she had done for him to do what he did. “ Please, what did I do for him to do that?” She cried softly to the room around her.

The answers to her mournful questions were not there, but her emptiness deep within herself was like a deep chasm. She felt her soul leap into the bottomless chasm, as she started to weep once again.

The door to the attic room suddenly opened, startling the young hunter out of her inner thoughts. She held her hands up in front of herself, fully realizing that she was still sitting there in the nude.

Miho came in and stopped when she saw the girl sitting there. Her eyebrows went up, noticing the state of the young girl.
“ I thought I was the only one that skulked around here at night in the nude.” She said with a grin as she played with the ties to her royal purple robe she had on.

Robin moved to the bed quickly an slipped into bed, wanting to cover herself up.
“ I did not know you were up.” She sputtered, as she felt embarrassed. “ Guess I was thinking too much, and...”
“ It’s alright, Robin..” The lady giggled, stopping the girl’s apology. “ You looked so beautiful naked in the faint light that was coming in, you know?”
“ I do?”“ Said a shocked face.
“ Like a young goddess, to which... you are.” Miho said, dreamily. “ Amon should be kicking himself for cheating on you!”

Robin looked at the woman with wide eyes at the comment. Even Amon had never said something like that to Robin, and she was thoroughly shocked from where the comment had came from.

Miho stood there, biting her lip with a tooth as she shifted from foot to foot.
“ Uh-oh.” She said with a sigh and a sheepish grin. “ Guess my cat is out of the bag now.”

The young Hunter looked at her host with a curious eye. Miho just moved into the room and closer to the bed.
“ Guess I need to explain myself just a little bit... because of the comment...” Began the short haired woman, giggling. “ I know you never knew something about me... I am a lesbian.”

Robin was shocked at the woman’s admission. She pulled the covers tighter about herself as she understood what the woman was saying.
“ You like girls?” She asked softly, her mouth open in shock. “ In that sort of way?”
“ I do.” Giggled the Hunter woman. “ You’re the first, and only one at work to knows that for now.”

The woman looked at the young one that had crammed into the bed. She could see that Robin was feeling just a little uncomfortable with the thought. Miho just looked at the girl, and decided that she should let the girl sleep... her admission was now causing a little bit of stress right then.

As the short brown haired lady turned to leave, Robin’s movement made her stop.
“ Does that mean you find me attractive?” Whispered the girl.
“ Ever since you came to the STN-J, I have, but not in the girlfriend-girlfriend way.” Said the lady, another admission layed out.
“ But... I like boys, er, men.” She said sheepishly to the woman.

Miho turned and walked a little closer to the bed and looked at the girl. She smiled, as the young girl’s smooth angelic features made her feel tingly all over. She did like the young teen, was even attracted to her fresh faced beauty. Sexually speaking, Robin did peak her interest, but she also knew who the girl was inside
“ You don’t have to worry, Robin.” Said a calm Miho. “ I know, and I respect that is who and what you are.”
“ You do?” Asked Robin.
“ Sure, that is why I want to help.” She said. “ I am only wanting to help you, because you’re my friend.”
“ With what is happening with Amon and I?”
“ Listen, being in a relationship with a man is just like me being in a relationship with a woman- the good, the bad and the stupid.”

Robin giggled, as the woman had a point.
“ Robin, this is hard for anyone, I want to help in any way I can.” Miho said, adding. “ You may not agree with me now, but you have to talk to Amon sometime...”
“ I... I can’t, Miho.” Shakily said the young girl. “ I don’t want to...”
“ You’ll have to sooner or later, you know.” She stated sharply. “ Something does not add up here.”

Robin looked up at the girl, with a squint of dissension on her face.
“ He cheated on me... I found him in bed with Touko... that says it all to me.” She spat, tears flowing again.
“ Amon does not strike me as a cheater...” Miho said, her eyes showing sincerity with her words. “ After I had calmed down after seeing him, I got to thinking... He was not the type.”

Robin shook her head, looking at the woman.
“ He cheated! I saw it.... end of story!!” Was all she said, almost screaming it at the woman.

The woman just looked at the girl, and knew that this was probably not the time to pull out this little hypophysis of hers. She just decided to drop it right then and there, until she could figure all of this all out.
“ I know...” The woman said. “ That is why I think my thought on it, is wrong now.

Robin felt better now, as the woman’s words made her less pained that what she had with her. They just talked for a moment about just nothing, as the subject seemed to have been dropped for the time being, and that set with the girl well.
They said their goodnights soon after that, and Miho left the girl to get some much needed sleep. Robin cuddled into the bed and closed her eyes, hoping that sleep would come to give her a brief respite from all of this. This day, was the worse day she had ever had, she thought to herself.

As the Hunter woman returned downstairs, she still had the young girl on her mind. The nagging feeling of her suspicions was still there. She did not know quite where to go with it, or even if she could do anything. All she wanted was to know the truth. She truly hated getting herself involved in other peoples relations, but something was with all of this, was spurring her to do so.

With a sigh, she headed to her bedroom located on the main floor. Perhaps a good nights sleep will change things. She was hoping that it might bring some clarity to this little suspicion of hers or just make it go away..

Far across the slumbering metropolis, another person was not able to get any sleep. Things were too screwed up.

Amon sat in the pitch blackness, in one of the armchairs in his living room. The only light in the room, was from a lit cigarette he had in his hand. He had not moved from his spot since getting home hours ago, not even to remove his long coat when he did. Slumped in the chair, he just felt the need to be left alone- and away from anyone.

His mind swirled with visions of Robin, and the great hurt of what he had done. Remorse was such a dark place, yet he still was struggling to remember just what had happened the night before and of the why he did it. It was eating him up inside, making himself feel totally crazy with it all.

Amon took a puff off of his smoke and closed his eyes. He could not get the image of the crying girl out of his head, or the stupid macho way he acted in Harry’s out of his head. He just lowered his head a little.
“ I am one dumb fuck!!” He spat to himself, with venom. “ One fucking dumb-assed fuck!!”

He just opened his eyes to the darkness again, his heart breaking. He groaned deep in his chest and took another drag from his smoke in reflex to his emotions stirring like they were. He wanted so badly to just talk to the girl, hopefully smooth things out, but he also knew the reality. She did not want to even see him.

He put out the smoke in the ashtray that was built into the arm of his chair, and stood up. He fished his car keys out of his coat pocket and headed to the door. He just left and headed down to his car, not even sure of where he was exactly going right then. He just felt like he had to go.
