Chapter Seven
The morning broke rainy. The night time storm had carried on into the light hours, drenching the city with a deluge of water that was near biblical per portions. The clouds were still dark and foreboding, showing that they still had more to come.Robin was just waking up after a restless sleep. She layed there, pondering what to do next. Her mind was a jumble with many thoughts all at once, the strange thing was... she was hurt by Amon, yet she missed him so much at the same time. That seriously confused her even more.
She could hear Miho downstairs in what she thought was the kitchen, and her nose picked up the pleasant smell of coffee wafting up into the room. Robin got out of bed and put on a dark colored robe that was hanging on the back of the door, the smell of the morning coffee spurring her to do so. No matter how deep your mood is, everyone has that thing that could get them up, she thought.
She found Miho puttering in the kitchen, also still dressed in her robe too. She noticed the entrance of the young gal, and smiled, but saw the effects of the last few days were still very there in the green eyes of Robin.
“ Good morning.” She said.
“ Good morning to you too.” Answered back Robin.
Miho poured a cup of coffee and handed it to the still very sleepy looking teen.
“ Did you sleep well once you got to sleep last night?” She asked.
“ I don’t think it was much of a sleep.” Admitted the young hunter, shaking her head. “ I feel very tired still.”
“ I did not expect you to sleep even a little... the fact you did, is a good one.” Miho said with a nod. “ Hopefully you will do better in that department tonight.”
“ Yes... I hope so.” Sighed the girl, taking a sip of the dark colored drink.
Miho was just about to say something else as they sat down at the table when her communicator on the table went off. Robin had her’s in the pocket of her robes too, and it went off almost simultaneously. They looked at each other tiredly.
“ Another quiet morning for coffee- blasted all to hell!” Sighed Miho with a half smirk. Robin just smiled at the woman’s words, and nodded.”
When they both answered, the heard Michael’s voice.
“ Both of you must get here pronto... we have a level one request from SOLOMON.” The lad said.
“ Pronto, hu?” Miho asked with a long sigh.“ I thought you guys took the requests there without our help.”
The lad seemed to pause, at the lady’s query.
“ The Chief needs both you and Robin in here as quickly as you can.” Restated the youth. “ We need you here, because we cannot locate Amon and there is an incident report on something that happened last night.”
“ Amon?” Robin asked, jumping in to the conversation. “ You can’t find Amon?”
“ We have been trying him for most of the morning, he is not answering his communicator, and his voice mail is full.” Said Michael. “ The Chief said for you and Robin to be here in a half hour. I gotta say that the Chief is pretty pissed at Amon right now.”
“ On our way.” Said Miho, hanging up.
The hunter woman looked at the girl, and saw a worried look on her face. She knew that the missing man was weighing on her.
“ He probably brooding somewhere.” Said Miho, in an attempt to help the girl’s mind. “ He has done this once in a while.”
“ I hope so... Amon always picks up for Michael.” Said Robin, picking up her coffee cup and heading to the staircase nearby. “ I really do.”
Robin hurried up to her room from the night before to dress, taking the stairs two at a time yet not spilling one drop of the coffee she had with her. Miho did the same, making a beeline to her bedroom.
The lady was worried now, her mind racing with the small bit of information given her. Amon had never shirked his duties, she thought to herself, she had just said what she did to Robin for the time being. Even for the brooding and sometimes very mysterious Amon, this was not in his nature, just like him cheating on Robin. This was even more of a sign to her that there was more than could bee seen.
Miho just had to put even that on hold and went to dress hurriedly. She would have to figure all of this strangeness out later on.
The office was a buzz with action when the two girl’s arrived. No sooner were they spotted, when Chief Kosaku was right there.
“ Robin... do you know where that partner of yours is?” He asked loudly.
“ No... I do not...” Robin answered, shakily.
“ Are you hiding why he has not come in, Robin?”
“ Chief... I do not know where Amon is.” Said the girl, as her insides were now really stating to worry about the dark haired man.
The chief seemed to be very agitated at Amon’s absence. He glared at Robin, his face turning redder by the moment from his anger.
“ What in the hell is going on with this team. You hunters just take a day off when ever you want to.” He spat angrily, his face red with his rage. “ Is there something going on I should know of or something, or are you in on this covering for your partners thing?”
Robin did not know what to say. She looked at the very irate man and bowed her head. She could not come out to say anything.
“ I said... I did not know where Amon was.” She said meekly, as she was to tied to say anything more.
“ Oh, very well.” Said the man, his little tirade suddenly dissipating off into nothingness as he stepped into the center of the room. “ Let’s get back to doing some work around here then, People.”
The man seemed to have calmed himself down in the few seconds he had taken, as he looked around the room. He snuffed and took a step away.
“ As for the reason you’re here is the a murder was perpetrated by a witch on SOLOMON’s top list. They have requested that you track him down for them.” He paused for a moment, almost like a dramatic pause in a play. “ From eye witnesses, he has been positively identified as the perpetrator in this killing.
Michael walked over from his computer terminal and handed every one an print out with a picture.
“ His name os Noraku Seto, thirty years old and unmarried. He’s been flagged by SOLOMON as very dangerous... he has the power to crush your insides like a overripe grape between the fingers.”
“ I remember him from the list.” Miho said, looking at the man’s not so flattering picture she had been handed. “ He is one of the most dangerous on the list.”
Michael nodded, agreeing with the lady’s incite into it. He fixed his tinted lenses on his nose and continued on reading.
“ He disappeared into the underworld syndicate, but reports told he has been discredited with them after killing the boss’s sone eight months ago... he went into hiding for awhile.” Informed the youth with his usual efficiency. “ SOLOMON has information from a informant that then tracks him to the an abandoned apartment house, which his family own but never made legal for inhabitation.”
“ How did they do that?” Asked Robin.
“ SOLOMON just had the information for us.” Calmly said the lad. “ He is top priority on the list for us- we have to suspend any cases until we capture him. His victim last night only was an innocent person on the street, and he came out of nowhere and was acting very irrationally.
Miho just looked around and nodded.
“ We should check this place out. Haruto and Robin... lets go.” She said. “ Keep trying Amon, Michael.”
“ In the mood the Chief is in... he’ll keep me doing it all day.” The computer lad said with a sigh. “ I’ll keep the communications running smoothly from my end.”
Robin nodded and followed the lady, with Haruto following. All three fell silent and hurried to get to the vehicles downstairs.
The flaxen haired hunter girl was glad for the work to take her mind off of things, but she was worried. She had been hoping to talk with Michael, to see if he had any idea where Amon would have disappeared to, but there had been no time to do so.
With a sigh, she followed, confused about whether to be mad at the man for what he did- or be worried that he was missing like this. Either way, she could not stop the man from entering her mind.
