Chapter Twelve
The sight of Robin laying motionless in the hospital bed, made Amon’s gut tighten. The sight of the girl was overwhelming, and his mind told him to move, and he did, eating up the distance with quickened steps.Once at the bedside, he took a deep breath in as he took her hand gently into his large hand. He stroked it lightly, looking into the girl’s angelic face.
“ Robin...” He whispered, as he leaned over and give her a kiss on the lips with great tenderness. “ I love you so much...”
Karasuma took a seat nearby, and leaned back. Even tough it had taken hours on end to find the man, she felt a certain measure of satisfaction of doing it. These two were meant to be together. She smiled, she was so sure of that.
She only hoped that Touko would come clean about everything, so the two lovers that were in front of her could mend the fences that the woman had destroyed with her drunken antics. It would be a selfless act on the woman’s part, but with Touko running off like she did, she did not think resolving would come from her. She only hoped that Robin’s and Amon’s love can work magic.
The man turned to look at the hunter woman, never letting go of the young hunter’s hand. His eyes fell on hers
“ Thank you..” He choked out, his emotions shattering his usual stoicness.
The show of emotions made Miho look at the man in a very different light that she had before. He was one she always respected, but his unemotionality also had made her very uneasy around him. This version of him was great, and she knew that it was the doing of the young girl laying in the bed. Love can do powerful things, she always knew that, but this was nothing more than the ultimate of that power.
Amon stood, looking right at the girl, listening to the constant sound of her breath. He stroked her cheek softly, looking at the angelic face that seemed to be only asleep. He longed to here her voice, feel her touch and to also know her love for him. This was the lady of his dreams, and he was scared of losing her- for good. He had never wanted anyone before, nor did he ever want someone to want him. He found himself right there, and he had a sense of helplessness he had never felt ever.
He had so any things he wanted to tell her. His heart wanted that so badly that it hurt. He closed his eyes, and did something he had not done since he was a child. He prayed.
The chief came in to the room and stopped. He saw Amon standing at the bedside, and frowned with anger.
“ Where the hell have you been, Amon!?” He verbally chastised, walking up behind the man. “ Can you tell me why you just vanished, and left us down a hunter? What do you got to say for yourself?” He poked the man in the back. “ You have a lot of explaining to do to many people!”
Amon turned quickly, his eyes flashing with the glow of annoyance. He stared right at the man, making the STN head take a step back.
“ I am sorry for this, Chief Kosaku...” He said, reigning himself back. “I’ll make an apology later on to you and the board members, right now though... I need to be here with Robin!”
The chief gulped and nodded dumbly as the man loomed over him. The man just patted the man’s arm and smiled meekly.
“ If you do that, the board and I will accept that...” He said, his words fumbling for the correct formula. “ Just take your time though, I will smooth that part over with the board later today.”
The chief just nodded to Karasuma, and left the room rather quickly. Amon turned back to his lady love and continued to just stand there. He began to whispering things to her. He was pouring his heart out, and apologizing the only way he knew how- straight out, hoping that somewhere, she was hearing her.
Hours had passed, it was very early the next morning. Amon had not moved or sat down, staying right at the girl’s side. He continued to talk to the girl in a whisper, hoping that she in some way, could hear him. Not in mind, but in her heart. He had to believe that she could. He continued, his heart lightening with each syllable he spoke.
Karasuma had fell asleep in the chair against the wall. Completely exhausted, the woman had slipped into sleep sitting up. She had stayed with the two for a reason, but did not quite know why. She had followed her instincts this far in the few days preceding, she was just go totally through with them.
Miho suddenly snapped out of her sleep. She looked around, seeing that the man had not moved a muscle from the last moment she remembers. He was quietly standing vigil, and she thought he had not made her wake up. She sat up more and looked around the room a little bit more carefully. What ever had woken her, she needed to know.
In the doorway of the room, a figure stood. Miho smiled and stood up from her upright bed, she felt her heart soar. Touko had shown up.
“ I thought you had ran off...” Miho said in a low tone.
“ I did, and I had a train ticket and everything I needed to completely disappear. Then I started to think hard, and knew just what I needed to do to live with myself.” The woman said back. “ I came here to make amends for what I have done, before I lose my nerve again and decided on completing my disappearance.”
Miho nodded, knowing that the woman was serious. She stepped aside and the woman walked in. The Hunter woman just let herself slip into the background, while Touko neared where Amon was.
The man heard footsteps behind him, and turned.
“ You!” He said, his eyes watering with tears. “ Why did you come here? I do not want to be reminded of my digression- and how I hurt the one that I love.
Touko just looked him right in the eyes. She saw the pain the man was in, and in that split second, knew that what she was about to do was right. She had to tell him, whatever the cost might be.
“ I need to talk to you.” She said, after pausing.
“ Is this the thing Miho eluded to?” Questioned Amon.
“ She did not tell you?” Asked the lady.
Amon shook his head. Touko took a deep breath.
“ You did not sleep with me by choice.” She said, trying to find the words that were being held by her shame.
“ We were naked, we had love juices all over- we did do it.” Said the man, his emotions making his low timbered voice waver. “ I have done many despicable things in my life, but I think I have stooped lower than anyone could.”
“ That is not the entire story.” She said, forcing the words out of her mouth. “ You need the truth to set your heart right.”
The woman stood straight in front of the man, and stared right into his dark orbs and began.
“ I let you get drunk like I did. You passed out on the bed, talking about Robin.” She lowered her head a little. “ How you talked about Robin, made me jealous, and made me want revenge.”
“ Revenge?” He asked, trying to piece it all together.
“ You and I have never had the relationship like you do with Robin... that is why I felt jealousy.” She explained. “ Once you were on the bed, I undressed you. When you had drank like this , I knew how to make you hard- and I in my drunken logic, thought that if you thought that you cheated on Robin, you would feel pain like I did when we broke up. I hopped on you and did just that.”
Amon’s face turned into a mask of pure anger.
“ I was passed out, and you fucked me?” He said through clenched teeth. “ You raped me??”
“ Have you not done that when you were young?” She asked, feeling fear as the man’s eyes flashed his anger.
“ No... not even with you. I have never done something like to you... or anybody else! ” He spat, eyes staring piercingly at Touko. “ When you were sick or sleepy, I respected that! I never just had my way with you, or forced the issue on you!!”
Amon felt his anger boil over. He took a step towards Touko, his fists clenching. The woman began to shy back, not knowing what the angered man would do. She could only see the anger set in his face.
Amon went to take another step, but something held him back. He turned and saw a hand grasping his coattail tightly from behind him. The hand was Robin’s
Amon spun around and looked at the girl. Green eyes sparkled up at him from the bed, and he felt his heart racing with joy.
“ Robin!!” He said, his voice holding the shock of the situation.
“ Don’t be mad with her.” Robin said in a raspy voice.
“ You don’t know what she just told...” He said then stopping, as the girl put up a hand to stop his words.
“ I heard it all, and heard you when you stood there for the longest of times.” She said, smiling weakly. “ We can be mad, that is true, yet could we not try and just understand her a little?”
Amon was surprised at the forgiving nature that the girl was exhibiting to Touko. He looked over at Touko, who had taken a step to the bed. He thought about it, and even through his dissipating anger, the young girl was right. He forced the anger away, and his mind comprehended the young girl’s reasoning
Robin turned her head and looked at Touko. She smiled and nodded.
“ I ... forgive you, Touko” She said, seeing the remorse and regret in the woman’s demeanor. She turned back to the tall man, a smile of happiness crossed her face. “ I love you, Amon!”
The tall man felt tears of joy flood down his face. That was all he wanted to hear, and his heart felt light.. He leaned over and kissed the girl passionately. She pulled him close with a weak arm and sighed. They both started to cry, whispering to one another the only way lovers could do.
Touko backed off and went to where Miho was.
“ I am glad I did this.” She whispered, smiling. “ I came to the conclusion- I was hurt, but all I truly wanted was for him and Robin , to be happy”
“ I just think you made that happen.” Miho commented with a broad smile. “ And you probably made something else happen- your own rebirth.”
“ If you mean feeling content that I too, have a man now that loves me, and people I love are happy too...” She said, then smiling. “ I’m way ahead of you there.”
“ Right.” Giggled the hunter.
“ Honey... I am right there.” Touko giggled, as she felt free for the first time in days “ I should have done that from the start...”
“ Nah ... Really?” The hunter woman drawled humorously.
The two fell silent, as they watched the two lovers hold one another. The ladies felt their hearts rise in joy, watching the two. This was the perfect ending, to a unperfect situation. It could have been so much pain... love now had a home.
