The Monster Within
Leara looked at the T.V. screen in shock as it read over the news about the brutal murder of two young boys just several blocks from her small house that she lived in with her dad. The news reporter on the T.V. stated that it was most likely a drug-addict just looking to get some kids, but even the T.V. reporter looked sick from what had happened. From what she could gage from the reporter's expression, Leara thought that he looked like he was going to throw up.
Her father went into her room with a frying pan that was frying eggs on. He had his mouth open about to say something but stopped as he looked at the T.V. screen. Leara's father looked at her with sympathy and the girl immediately looked down at the floor before her father left the room.
Before he left he said, “Breakfast is ready honey, it will be on the table when you get down. You will be late for school, and be careful; there are a lot of crazy, sick people in the world today.”
Leara closed the door to her room and got on her school uniform and put on a beret and then headed out to eggs and toast before she headed off to school. On her way there, she still could not get the voice of the reporter out of her head and for some reason she went by the area where the murders happened.
Unlike earlier there were not so many police cars or reporter vehicles as there were, as people continued about their daily lives. It was a shock to begin with but soon most people would get over the murders, which was the usual rationale in this city, especially with all the crime in the past several years. Leara sighed sadly as she looked at the yellow tape and the two white sheets that covered what she presumed to be the boys' bodies.
Leara in a way felt connected to these two boys because her mom was killed when she was younger. She was attacked at night and was found in an alleyway with long slashes in her throat and chest area. Her attacker was never brought to justice and Leara wondered if maybe the person who killed these two boys was the exact same person who took her mom away from her.
Leara continued to walk down the street and continued on to school. She was late however and was told by the principle that this would have to b reported to her father, who as she put it, would freak.

Two yellow eyes watched as the young girl walked to school from the crime scene. The scent of the female human girl had been extremely familiar to the wolf who watched from the shadows of the alleyway at her figure as it departed around the corner. When she was gone the wolf turned back to the camera he was facing, in his human disguise, and stated.
“This is, Toboe Nakaromo, reporting from the crime scene of very brutal murders committed last night by at least one criminal. The two boys that were killed were ages 7 and 9 and appeared to have been walking home when they were attacked by the perpetrator. If anyone has any information leading to the arrest of the person or people who did this please call your local police station. And that is a wrap.”
The wolf turned back to where the school girl had gone and if anyone noticed quickly, you could make out a `second face', his true face appear. The wolf licked his lips and walked off into the shadows as the television crew just packed up and left.
Soon as the wolf was far enough down the alley, away from the spectators and police, and camera's, the image of a news reporter vanished and a wolf remained where the reporter once stood. A brown-furred wolf that let out a howl before he jumped onto a garbage bin, then over a ten foot high wall and was gone. Interesting!
