Ch apter 8 of The Moon's Tears: Two Hearts

It had been the first night the had been traveling in the wilderness, ever since Hige had gotten a whiff of Leiko's foul human stench, they immediately had left the city to avoid her. Khota was somewhat reluctant to leave, her other companions were still in the city and the guilt of leaving them weighed down on her and the others noticed it.

"Don't worry," Hige said trying to be comforting to her, "They'll be fine."

Khota nodded slightly, "You're probably right."

Hige smiled, "Aren't I always?"

The others shot him a dark look and rolled their eyes and Khota giggled at their reaction.

The walked under some trees and deeper into the mountains as the sun began to set, painting the sky bright vivid tones of red and orange. The thin crescent white shape of the moon soon hung overhead.

"We should find a place to sleep," Kiba said stopping.

Toboe yawned and nodded, "Yeah, I'm tired."

Tsume leaned against a tree and slid down to a sitting position, "Fine," he said.

The others flopped down lazily, but Khota remained standing, "I'm cold." she said stretching her limbs and shivering slightly. "Is it alright if I make a campfire."

"Whatever," her brother answered dismissively.

She grabbed Kiba and pulled him up, "Help me look for some firewood."

He groaned and rolled his eyes as the female wolf dragged him away from the others, who were looking after them curiously.

"Where are we going?" he asked when the thought occurred to him they had been walking in a direction for about twenty minutes. Kiba then arched an eyebrow, "Why do I have a feeling you weren't interested in looking for firewood?"

"Maybe because that wasn't what was on my mind," she said stopping and letting go of him with a light sigh. After a few seconds of awkward silence she spoke softly, "We need to talk."

"Fine," he said coolly, "But why so far away from the others?"

"I don't want them to overhear," Khota replied, "This is personal."

Kiba looked at her, "Is it about-"

Khota nodded immediately, "Yes." She shuffled her feet uncomfortably underneath herself and gazed at him ineptly with her hand behind her back.

"Okay." he said flatly placing his hands on his hips.

She bit her bottom lip, "Why?"

"Why what?" Kiba asked a little confused. She could at least make her question clearer.

"Why'd you do it?" Khota asked.

Kiba looked away from her, "I just…I…do I have to answer that?"

"It would be nice if you did," Khota said some what sharply.

Kiba scratched the back of his head, "I guess because I kind of find you interesting."

"Interesting?" she frowned. That didn't sound like a good reason to her.

"Yeah, stupid, huh?" He said directing his eyes back at her.

"Very," she said sheepishly.

"We should go back," Kiba said.

Khota bit the inside of her cheek and wearily agreed, "Alright."

Kiba started walking and she followed close behind, but a noise of rustling leaves above as wind blew through the trees startled her and she grabbed Kiba's arm and clung to him.

"Scared?" Kiba asked.

"No." Khota said glancing over her shoulder, "The noise just surprised me, that's all." After a few moments, she started to lean against his arm which threw him off balance and he fell to the ground with her on top of him. "Sorry," Khota muttered, "That was stupid."

"Don't cling to me then," Kiba said with a hint of annoyance in his voice and standing up.

"Sorry," She sighed getting on her feet as well, "I'm a klutz at times."

The sky above them thundered and rain began drizzling.

"That's odd," Khota noted as more and more drops fell, "It was a clear night sky a few minutes ago."

Kiba didn't say anything.

The rain began falling down harder to her dismay, she didn't like rain.

They took shelter under a huge tree and Khota sat down on the dampened dirt and leaned her back against the tree.

"We'll wait for it to stop," Kiba stated as he sat down next to her.

"Hige will be worried," Khota said thinking about her brother, but then her thoughts turned to Baku, Aki and Rayne. She missed them…a lot. Aki and Baku's arguments and Rayne in general most of all. For a while though, Kiba had somewhat reminded her of him. "They're probably worried to."

"They?" Kiba said.

"Aki, Baku and…Rayne. The wolves I was with before, you know." Khota said sadly, thinking about them and the way she basically deserted them made the guilt build up even more.

"Oh." Kiba responded.

Khota put her chin in her hands, "I miss them so much." She smiled slightly thinking of all the fun times they had had together, but then the smile faded, "You probably don't want to hear about them, though."

"It's up to you if you want to tell me or not." Kiba replied staring at her.

"Some other time," Khota said.

"You know," Kiba said eyeing her after a few minutes had passed by in total, eerie silence, "I didn't think you were just interesting."

She looked at her oddly, "Really?" Why is he bringing this up now?-she thought.

"I think you're attractive too," he said very calmly.

"What?" Khota said in modest surprise, a light blush spreading across her face. She didn't mean what as in a question, she meant what as in disbelief.

"It's true," he leaned closer to her and whispered into her ear, "I mean it." He then nuzzled her face sweetly.

"Ehh…" Khota pulled away a little and looked at him with a confused expression.

She was uncertain about his change in attitude, a while ago he had just berated her for being clingy now he was doing this. Her head was spinning with mixed feelings and thoughts.

(A/N: Here comes the citrus fluff. Hide the children.)

Kiba pulled her into his lap and caressed her face is his hands and licked her cheek which caused her blush to deepen. He then pulled down her turtle neck's collar and traced his tongue on the nape of her neck which made her squirm uncomfortably.

"Kiba," she gasped as he turned her face towards him with one of his hands and kissed her lips. It wasn't a forceful kiss though, it was very gentle. This shocked her to some extent though, she never expected behavior like this from him.

His free hand began stroking her leg gingerly, but she was to preoccupied with the lip-lock to notice that he had started to lift her skirt up after a bit.

She finally took notice of it though when she felt his cool hand on top of her bare thigh. "Kiba, stop it." she demanded quietly breaking away from the kiss and trying to get away, but he hugged her hips tightly and began kissing her neck.

Khota whined to protest, but eventually stopped when her body and heart gave in.

His touches weren't hurtful, they were sweet, like the breeze blowing softly against her body.

Khota finally turned completely around and lightly pushed him back so he was laying on the ground and she straddled his lap.

She licked his cheek and trailed her tongue down to his collarbone, Kiba moaned as so did so.

She then lifted his shirt up and kissed his stomach which earned another moan of satisfaction from Kiba which in turn made her giggle.

She smiled as she went back to kissing him on the lips and intertwined her hands in his hair as his hands held onto her hips still.

Khota sucked on his bottom lip until it was swollen then pulled back , still with a happy grin on her face, "So, do you still like me?" She asked in a seductive and devilish voice, somewhat breathless though.

Kiba propped himself up on his elbows, "Of course." He brushed a stray lock of her out of her face with his fingers.

She blushed and got off of him then looked around, "The rain stopped."

"So it did." Kiba said not caring.

Khota stood up , "Then let's go. Hige's gonna be worried and so will the others."

Kiba slowly stood up and his arm around her hip and kissed her forehead lightly, "Alright then."

"What took you two so long?" Tsume asked as he saw Kiba and Khota walking towards them.

"It started to rain and that delayed us," Khota replied running a hand through her wet hair. She then saw that Tsume's eyes were on Kiba's hand…which was still around her waist and she quickly removed it before anyone else saw.

"I thought you said you were looking for firewood." Hige said looking back and forth between his sister and Kiba, still with a slight bruise on his cheek.

"We were," Kiba said, "But it would have been dumb to build a fire while it was raining."

"Is Toboe asleep?" Khota asked, changing the subject off of her and Kiba.

"Yeah, so is Blue." Hige answered.

"And what's Cheza doing?" Khota inquired, "Does she sleep?" Khota never recalled seeing Cheza sleep, she always watched over them as they slumbered.

"Not that we know of, she's with Toboe and Blue." Tsume folded his arms across his chest.

"Oh." Khota replied stupidly. "Well then we should get to sleep to." She yawned.

"This is shitty!" Leiko exclaimed to herself rested her shotgun against her shoulder in a bored manner, "I can't find them anywhere." She had been looking for them for the good part of a week and so far not even a hint of them was to be found anywhere.

Just as she was about to punch a wall, her cell phone rang and she bitterly picked it up, "Hello?"

"Leiko." A cool voice said.

"Yes Lady Toshi?" Leiko asked wondering what in the hell was the noble calling her for.

"Have you found anything?" Lady Toshi asked coolly.

"Not a trace, it's as though they were never here." Leiko replied in a flustered manner.

"Then perhaps you are looking for the wrong wolves." Lady Toshi said.

"Oh really?" Leiko hissed, "Then what wolves I'm I supposed to be looking for?"

"Why look for the target when you can lure it in with bate?" The noble stated calmly.

"What are you talking about?" Leiko questioned keeping her shot gun on her shoulder.

"Before she left the city with that pack of wolves, she was with another." The noble explained, "Find them and lure her to you. It's quite simple."

"Set a trap you mean." Leiko said as she began pacing back and forth.

"Exactly." Lady Toshi said, "They're in the city your in currently. It'd be best to find them quickly though, they will probably move out soon." she then hung up.

"Set a trap for the wolf," Leiko said placing her cell phone back into her trench coat pocket, "Why didn't I think of that?" She then stormed off down the alley in pursuit of the other wolves.
