Wolf's Rain Fan Fiction ❯ The New Way to Paradise ❯ Finding Hige ( Chapter 2 )

The traffic light switched to red and the walk light told the crowd to hurry across. Not even realizing it the humans weren't the only ones crossing the road. Among them was wolf.

His name is Hige. He was a short, stocky boy wolf. His fur was two toned brown. Around his neck he wore a dog collar. But no one saw this side of him. Except for the dog collar, he looked like a normal teenage boy.

The humans saw a boy dressed in baggy blue pants with a yellow t-hoodie over a dark long-sleeved shirt. He had brown hair that seemed to stick out all over his head and reddish eyes. In his arm he carried a large paper bag full of groceries. He took out one of rolls in the bag and began to eat it.

He was thinking about the pretty girls across the road. That's really all that he thought about, food and girls. Well, he was a wolf.

He had a keen sense of smell, even for a wolf. It was then that he smelled that smell. The one that was sweet. A distant flowery smell. It was strange, yet familiar and comforting.

He kept walking, but wherever he was he couldn't stop smelling that smell. And it wasn't getting any weaker like a normal scent.

“Hey you!”

Hige looked around. A group of boys were standing in his way. By the way they were standing they weren't going to let him pass until they were done with him.

“You look like you don't really need that bag.”

Hige smiled, “Yeah, actually I need the bag to carry my food.”

The boy that looked like the leader dropped his smile, “Smart ass.”

“Yeah, I get called that a lot.”

“Why you!!”

The leader rushed Hige.

Hige jumped clear over the guy and landed easily. But after he landed he got hit from behind. One or two maybe even three guys he could handle but there were about ten here. Way too many for him to handle.

He ran. Better alive and running then being punched and kicked to death.

“After him! I want him to pay!”

Hige used all the tricks he knew, but he couldn't get far enough away so that he could jump onto one of the roofs without being seen.

He ran into an alley. Unfortunately, it was a dead end he turned around. Maybe he could run out of the alley before… to late. They had blocked the entrance.

“Now we have you. You smart ass.”

Hige swallowed. How was he going to get out of this one? He closed his eyes, waiting for the punishment of ten guys' fists.

But it never came.

Hige opened his eyes, confussed.

Four of the gang were on the ground pretty badly beaten. The others were scared to death. And Hige saw why.

Before him stood someone he hadn't seen since before paradise came and went.

Kiba.

The white wolf looked like a boy with dark brown, almost black hair and blue eyes. He wore a white shirt and blue jeans along with a worn jacket and converse shoes.

The gang that had been chasing Hige scattered.

Kiba looked at the wolf behind him.

“Hi, Kiba.”

“Hige.”

One down three more to go.
