Wolf's Rain Fan Fiction ❯ The New Way to Paradise ❯ The Tragedy of Finding Blue ( Chapter 3 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Blue looked around. All things were quiet. Nothing really exciting happened at the police station anymore. Pop's sure keeping the crime down since he rejoined.
Blue was really half wolf, but she was happiest when she looked like dog. She was a beautiful large dark blue “dog” with blue eyes. No one but Pops knew that she had a “human” side.
If she really felt like it she would switch the way people saw her. She had done that about a month ago. The people of the small town saw her as a tall girl with bright blue eyes and dark, short, blue hair. She wore navy blue boots that go up to about mid-thigh. She also wore a coat that's navy blue that's all buttoned and tied up and goes down to almost mid-thigh as well. To finish off her look, she had around her neck a pink scarf.
Sometimes, though, she dreamed of faces. Those same faces danced around her brain during the day. They were the faces from a past life, from a life she'd never see again.
Blue sighed. Maybe some day the smell of the flower would return. Then maybe she'd see the pack that she once ran with.
“Bluuuuuuueeeeeeee!”
Blue picked her head up, ears perked. In ran the children of the school that was across the street. Today only two came to visit, one boy and one girl. The little boy held some of his ham sandwich in his hand.
“Hi, Blue! Look what I got for you.”
“Yeah, look what we got for you.”
The little boy always came with food for her. And the little girl always told Blue her secrets.
Blue quickly ate the food.
“Don't give her too much or she won't be able to help me catch all the bad guys.”
Pops walked out onto the porch.
“Hello, Mr. Sheriff!”
“Hello kids. That wasn't peanut butter and jelly was it?”
“No. We learned not to give her pb and j.”
Pops left chuckling to himself.
The kids petted Blue and played around her until their parents came to talk them home. Blue watched them go. She was sad to she them go.
“Let's go home too, Blue.”
Blue hopped in the truck, unaware that it would be the last time she'd ever be fed part of a sandwich by the children again.
Blue woke with a start. She was having that dream with the faces again when she hear Pops telling her to get up.
“Blue, get up. Something is burning in the town.”
Something wasn't burning in the town. The town was what was burning. Everything was engulfed in flames. Blue couldn't believe what he saw next.
Men.
Men from the army. They were everywhere. There was screaming and shooting. Then she heard it.
Screaming.
They were screaming.
The children.
“Bluuuueeee!”
She left Pops side as fast as she could go.
“Blue! Where you going?”
Blue couldn't hear though. She could only run toward they sound of the boy's cry. Hang on! Oh please hang on.
She found him.
“Blue! I knew you'd come to get me.”
She licked his face.
Suddenly, she felt him tense him up. She spun around. There above them stood a soldier. It was then she realized that these weren't ordinary soldiers. These were different some how.
Blue snared and growled at him. Don't you hurt him!
He hit her with the butt of his gun. Blue turned towards the boy. Yuki, his name is Yuki. Run, Yuki, Run! RUN!
Some how he understood. He ran so hard. It would make a cheetah shutter in its fur covered legs. But it wasn't fast enough.
A shot rang out.
The little boy, Yuki, her friend, fell.
Her vision became blurred.
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
All she could see was darkness. No matter what she did, the darkness remained. Then came the gift of sound. And it came from a source she never thought she'd see, let alone hear, again.
“Blue. Blue, wake up”
She opened up her eyes. Before her was the face of Hige. Behind him stood Kiba.
“Hige?” she looked at him and started to cry. The boy was dead.
“It's okay. You're safe now.”
Kiba looked towards the sky. The scent was there.
“Where to now?”
“To find Toboe.”
Two down, two to go.
I have to tell you readers that from here on out it's just going to get worse in the violence and maybe a bit more graphic. Also I'm working harder at making my chapters longer so please hang w/ me. And thanks to those who give me reviews; I need them (good or bad). -moonalchemist
