Wolf's Rain: Wandering Wolf

Disclaimer: I do not own WR, but I do own Kuronae and the idea behind this story, it's also shounen-ai/yaoi, just to warn you so if you don't like that kind of thing then don't read. Well lets get on with the story then.

Chapter 2: Kuronae's Moon

" Kuronae?!" exclaims Hige as he waves his hand before the other wolves eyes. " Kuronae!" Kuronae starts as he looks up at the older wolf. "Grief kid. . .you're worse then Toboe. . .I've been calling you for the last ten minutes."

" Oh. . .sorry Hige," whispers Kuronae and smiles slightly. " So? What's up?" Hige sighs as he rolls his eyes. " What?"

" Need your advise," whispers Hige. Kuronae blinks as he looks at the other wolf. " Why are you looking at me like that?"

" You. . .need my advise? Well that's a first," says Kuronae and chuckles. For the whole month he'd been in the pack Hige had treated him more like a nuisance, until he ticked the younger wolf off enough that Kuronae attacked him. Kuronae giggles as he thinks back to the memory

" Hey squirt! Come on! You're farther behind then Toboe!" shouted Hige over his shoulder as he looked at Kuronae who was lagging behind. Kuronae hissed and then smirked as he sped up so he was running even with Hige. The older wolf blinked as he looked at Kuronae. " Uh. . .hello?" Kuronae growled as he snapped at Hige, the older wolf yelped as he jumped out of Kuronae's way. " Hey! What's your deal!?"

" Do Not Call Me Squirt," hissed Kuronae as he waved his whip in front of Hige's eyes. " If I was in the lead. . .the pace would be a lot faster. . .be happy I'm watching your tail Hige. . .understand?" Hige nodded as Kuronae smirked as he faded back, falling behind Toboe and Blue who blinked slightly and shrugged.

" What's so funny? You seem to know a lot," whispers Hige as he looks at the pup. " I mean. . .you like girls. . .right Kuronae." Kuronae starts as he looks at Hige wide-eyed. " What? You look like a deer in the headlights all of a sudden."

" Why? Why do you want to know if I like girls?" asks Kuronae as he feels a mixture of terror and pain filling him.

" Well. . .I just wanted your advise concerning Blue. . .I mean. . .as we're on our way to the mating grounds and such," whispers Hige. " I mean. . .you were the friend of a Flower Maiden right?"

" Tabia. . ." whispers Kuronae as he raises his eyes and looks at Hige silently. " Hige. . .can I trust you to keep a secret?" Hige blinks and nods slightly as he looks at the younger wolf as Kuronae sighs. " Okay. . .I um. . . don't really. . .like. . .like girls. . .not like you like Blue. . ." Hige blinks as he stares at the young wolf as Kuronae bows his head. Hige smirks as he stands up and rests a hand on Kuronae's, blinking as the younger wolf flinches.

" You haven't even come into season yet Kuronae. . .how would you know?" asks Hige and blinks as Kuronae shivers as he blinks. " Wait a second. . .Kuronae. . .you're younger then Toboe. . .you couldn't. . .could you?"

" I. . .don't. . .don't know. . .but I've been feeling really weird for the last week or so," whimpers Kuronae as he huddles in on himself as he moves away from Hige. " And I'm so confused. . .Hige. . .you better go. . .I'm just. . .just really edgy right now." Hige nods as he leaves the smaller wolf alone as he notices Kiba looking at him oddly.

" What was all that about?" asks Kiba and blinks as Hige drags him off toward an outcropping of rocks, out of earshot of Toboe or Kuronae. " What are you doing Hige?"

" Kuronae. . .is he old enough to be in season?" asks Hige as he looks at Kiba. Kiba blinks and shakes his head slightly.

" I don't think so? Why?" asks Kiba as he looks at Hige. " Why? You don't swing that way Hige. . .why are you suddenly interesting in Kuronae?"

" I'm not interested in Kuronae! Not that way Kiba!" shouts Hige and makes a face. " He just. . .he told me he's been feeling really weird for the last week or so. . .and he's really edgy. . .I touched his shoulder. . .I swear. . .it felt like he was burning up. . .think he might be sick?"

" If he's in season Hige. . .that his business," mutters Kiba and blinks as Tsume walks up behind him. " Hiya Tsume. . .need something?"

" It is Kuronae's business. . .but. . .he's still a pup Kiba.. . he's most likely afraid. . .feeling so weird. . .specially cause he's part human and part lunar flower," whispers Tsume. Kiba nods as he looks at his mate as Tsume chuckles. " Have you seen how Kuronae watches Toboe?"

" I don't really pay attention. . .why?" asks Kiba and blinks as Hige chuckles as Blue walks up and watches the three males.

" He watches Toboe like I watch you," whispers Tsume as he leans near Kiba as the white wolf blushes slightly. " And I'm sure Toboe isn't in season yet. . .and if Kuronae is. . .then we need to watch them both. . .for both their sakes. . ."

" Yeah. . .a couple of premature wolves. . .specially one in his first season. . .might not be to nice. . .specially cause they're both male," says Hige and chuckles as Blue smiles slightly at him. " You think Kuronae would try to pull anything dishonorable?"

" I doubt it. . .he doesn't like being touched anyway," says Blue as the three males look at her. " I tried to help him fix his wounds once and he practically freaked out on me. . .he's about the shyest male I've ever met. . ."

" He's also. . .not full wolf. . ." says Tsume as he thinks out loud. " And if Kuronae's in season a full month before us. . .then. . .well. . .wonder how long it'll last?"

" Well. . .he's part human. . .and part flower," says Blue and laughs slightly. " Human males. . .are odd. . .well human's in general are strange. . .but there's no certain time where the humans will set aside time to mate. . .hopefully he doesn't inherit that trait. . ."

" How old does he look?" asks Hige and laughs. " Twelve or so? Maybe thirteen at best. . .he's still premature."

" Hey guy's! What ya talking about?" asks Toboe as he runs up to them and blinks as everyone falls silent. " Um. . .what?"

" Toboe. . .we'll tell you when you're older," says Tsume as he stalks off, dragging Kiba with him as the white wolf yelps.

" You always say that!" shouts Toboe as he glares after them. " Hige! Come on! Tell me!" Hige looks at Blue and then Toboe and shrugs as he starts to retreat in the opposite direction as Tsume and Kiba. " Hige! Blue! You're not being fair!"

" Then go ask Korunae!" shouts Hige and with that disappears into the shadows as Toboe sticks his tongue out after the older wolf.

" Hige. . .you sure you should have told him to ask Korunae?" asks Blue as she looks at him. Hige blinks as Blue smiles slightly. " This season is going to be an odd one Hige. . .real odd." Hige chuckles and nods as he looks at his mate as Blue chuckles. " You know. . .Korunae promised to explain everything to Toboe when we get to the mating grounds." Hige starts as he looks at her as Blue chuckles. " So I guess. . .either way. . .the pup's gonna find out. . ."

" How should I know what they were talking about?" asks Korunae as he looks at Toboe and shrugs. " No clue. . .I'm a wolf Toboe. . .not a mind reader. . .there's a big difference you know." Toboe nods as he looks at Korunae sadly as Korunae chuckles. " Why so down Toboe?"

" They all say I'm to young," whispers Toboe. " But. . .what about you? You're younger then me. . .but they treat you like one of them. . .or at least more like one of them. . .they treat you older." Korunae looks down at the cave floor as he smiles sadly. " Why?"

" Toboe. . .age. . .has nothing to do with physical age. . .it has to do with mental and emotional age," whispers Korunae as he fiddles with his whip. " Do you understand?"

" So. . .because I don't act older. . .they don't treat me older?" asks Toboe. Korunae shakes his head as Toboe blinks. " I do not get it Korunae."

" If you make adult decisions. . .then they'll treat you like an adult,"whispers Korunae as he stands up and stretches. " I'm making a really hard decision right now?"

" What?" asks Toboe as he looks at his friend. Korunae smiles weakly as he looks away from Toboe as he fights his inner desire to kiss the other wolf. " What?"

" I have this really strong urge to do something, but. . .I'd regret it after I did it. . .so I've decided not to do it," whispers Korunae as he leaves the cave and Toboe in his wake. " Damn. . .that was hard. . ." Korunae jumps onto the top of the cave as he stares up at the moon as he tilts his head back, a mournful howl echoing through the night. Korunae smiles as he feels the presence of someone beside him and smiles. " Hello Tsume. . ."

" That was very. . .um. . .noble of you Korunae," whispers Tsume. Korunae blinks as he turns his head to look at Tsume. " I doubt. . .I would have been able to fight an urge to do that. . ."

" Tsume. . .I've been fighting that urge since I set eyes on him," whispers Korunae and chuckles. " Even when I wasn't in season and had a bunch of other urges piled on top of it. . .it wasn't noble Tsume. . .it was just the right thing to do. . .Toboe's just a pup. . .I'm a pup too. . .but. . .I'm a pup. . .a pup in. . ."

" A pup in season," finishes Tsume. Korunae nods as he sighs as he sits down as he looks at the moon. " You love him?"

" Hmm. . .that obvious?" inquires Korunae as he brings his thin legs up to his chest. " Yes Tsume. . .I love him. . .but. . .I can't have him. . .not yet at least. . ." Tsume blinks as he looks at the pup as Korunae looks at him. " You guys. . .don't sing. . ."

" You mean a hunting song? It'd attract hunters," states Tsume and blinks as Korunae looks at the moon wistfully. " Why?"

" I miss the songs," whispers Korunae as he stands up, his hair sweeping his shoulders as he smiles at Tsume. " When I hunt. . .I sing to myself. . .silently. . .I used to. . .sing. . .for comfort. . ." Tsume nods slightly as Korunae changes into a wolf as he tilts his head back as a howl echo's through the night as Kiba's head snaps up from his position curled by the fire as he listens to the howls. Korunae stops as he hears footsteps behind him and Tsume as he turns his head and looks at Toboe as he smiles slightly. " H. . .Hello Toboe. . .need something?"

" Your song. . ." whispers Toboe as he looks at Korunae through shadowed eyes. Kuronae starts as his eyes grow wide as he takes a step back, looking every which way, making sure his escape routes are clear. " Korunae. . .your song. . .was it from your pack?" Kuronae visibly relaxes as he motions for Toboe to sit down as Tsume raises an eye at Korunae, but also sits down.

" Yes. . .Toboe. . .that's a song from my pack," whispers Korunae as he fiddles with his whip, which is tied around his waist. " Did you um. . .well. . .like it?"

" I. . .didn't really understand it. . .was it. . .a hunting song?" asks Toboe. Korunae shakes his head as Toboe smiles slightly. " Just an ordinary song then?"

" I'll tell you this time next month Toboe," whispers Korunae. Toboe sighs as he looks at the slightly younger pup as Korunae smiles.

" You're sure wracking up the stuff to tell me Korunae," whispers Toboe and with that jumps off the cave top, almost landing on Kiba who blinks as he moves out of Toboe's way as he jumps up onto the cave top and stares at Korunae, which makes the smaller wolf quite ill at ease.

" Korunae. . .was that. . .a mating song?" asks Kiba. Korunae blushes as he nods shyly as he looks up at the 'leader' of the pack. " Can you. . .can you teach me?" Korunae giggles as he fiddles with his whip again nervously. " Well?"

" Kiba. . .I'll make you a deal. . .I'll teach you MY mating song. . .if. . .you'll help me make something," whispers Korunae, holding his breathe as Kiba nods. " It's a deal Kiba."

" So. . .what do you want me to help you make?" asks Kiba as he looks at the younger wolf. Korunae smiles as he stands up as his scarf blows out behind him. " Korunae?"

" I want you. . .to help me. . .make. . .a gift for Toboe," whispers Korunae as he blushes bright red.

" So. . .you do love him," whispers Kiba. Korunae nods as Kiba chuckles slightly. " Sure Korunae. . .what's the gift?"

" Another bracelet. . ." whispers Korunae. Kiba blinks as Korunae fiddles with his hair as he smiles slightly. " Well. . .yeah. . .bone bracelet. . .from one of those bone's from that moose I killed when we first met."

" Korunae. . .grief. . .that's really far from. . ." says Kiba but gets cut off as Korunae fiddles in his pack as he pulls out the starting's of a really intricate bracelet. " Wow. . .you already started. . .what do you need me to do?"

" I need you. . .to carve it like Lunar Flowers," whispers Korunae. Kiba blinks as he looks at Korunae as he clutches the bracelet to his chest as he smiles weakly. " I. . .I just. . .want it to be perfect for Toboe. . .do you think he'll like it?"

" Korunae. . .that kid freakin' worships the ground you walk on," mutters Tsume. Korunae starts as he turns to look at the grey wolf as Tsume chuckles. " He'll like it just fine. . .now stop worrying about it puppy. . ." Korunae rolls his eyes as he hands the bracelet over to Kiba who nods as Korunae sighs.

" I'll try to teach you Kiba. . .but I'm not exactly sure you'll be able to follow," whispers Korunae as he brushes his bangs out of his eyes. " But I'll try my best." Kiba nods as he watches the pup as Korunae turns to face the moon as he throws his arms out as the moonlight catches on the silver in his whip as he smiles. " The light I see above me now, shall call my name, yet I will not answer, Paradise is but a step away, yet without you. . .would it really be called Paradise. . ."

" Blue?" asks Toboe as he shyly looks at the female. " Can I. . .um. . .ask you something?" Blue nods slightly as she watches the pup from her spot, reclining against a log inside the cave. " How. . .um. . .did you know. . .that. . .well. . .you well. . ." As Toboe talks he keeps turning brighter red as Blue chuckles.

" You're trying to ask how I knew that I was in love with Hige. . .right?" inquires Blue as she tilts her head to the side. Toboe nods energetically as Blue chuckles as she looks at the pup. " Hm. . .that's a good question Toboe. . .I guess you just have to listen to your heart. . .oh here comes Hige. . .with food or so it seems." She blinks as she hears the howls from the cave top as she chuckles. " Do you even understand what he's singing about?"

" No. . .it's like he's speaking a totally different language," whispers Toboe as he smiles slightly. " But he promised to explain it to me this time next month." Blue smiles as she walks out to greet Hige as the other wolf hugs her as she chuckles as she blinks as she notices Kuronae jump off the roof and go running off toward the west. " Kuronae!"

" He's singing and all of a sudden he just ups and shoots off like a human was on his fool tail," grumbles Hige as he sets down his bag of food before the others. " Where'd Kuronae run off too?"

" I think. . .he depressed himself," mutters Tsume and rolls his eyes. " Stupid pup and his season." Kiba shrugs as he starts eating and blinks as a shot rings off toward the direction where Kuronae ran. " Damn it!" Tsume jumps to his feet as he runs off, the other four on his heels as he growls. " Stupid puppy." Tsume blinks as he comes on a scene and stops the others as he see's Kuronae circling around a robot, amethyst eyes blood red as his ears lay flat back against his head as his whip lays on the ground as he charges at the robot, hair standing on end as he tears into the robot's arm.

" Korunae!" shouts Toboe as he stares at his friend. Kuronae starts as he turns his head as he looks into Toboe's terror filled eyes. " Get out of there!" Kuronae just smirks as he jumps in the air, landing beside Toboe as the other wolf blinks.

" Toboe. . .I'll be fine," whispers Kuronae as he leans near the boy. " I can't die just yet. . .I promised you. . .I stay true to my promises. . .stay out of this. . .this is MY fight." Kuronae spins as he grabs his whip twisting it around his wrist as he spins it in the air as Tsume and the other three older wolves notice a strange scent in the air.

" He's. . .wow. . .he's radiating fear," mutters Tsume. " He's frickin' scared out of his skin, so what's he doing?" Tsume blinks as he hears the sound of sparking metal and a crash as he looks up to see Kuronae, panting, holding his whip over his heart as he takes a deep breathe. Tsume and the others stare at the remains of the robot as Kuronae takes another deep breathe. " You. . .got it."

" I. . .I. . .he got me first," whispers Korunae as he clutches a bleeding wound in his side as he smiles slightly. " I was scared Tsume. . .but. . .I couldn't let him hurt any of you. . .you're my pack after all. . ." Toboe runs over as he looks at Korunae wound as the younger wolf smiles to himself. " Were you that worried about me Toboe?"

" Of course I was Kuronae!" exclaims Toboe as he looks at the silver and grey-blue haired wolf. " You could have gotten yourself killed!"

" You worry to much Toboe," whispers Korunae as he turns and starts to walk back toward the cave as he continues to clutch his side and blinks as he feels himself picked up. " Tsume. . .put me down."

" You're bleeding all over the place pup," hisses Tsume in Korunae's ear. " Your clothes are stained beyond compare. . .we need to find you something warmer." Kuronae growls as he tries to struggle out of Tsume's grip, but finally resigns himself to cursing out the older wolf as Tsume makes a face. " Korunae. . .shut-up. . .you sound like a freakin' human."

" Then put me the hell down," growls Korunae as he wiggles in Tsume's arms as the older wolf sets him down inside the cave. " I can take care of myself." Korunae blinks as Toboe runs up to his side, kneeling down beside him and starting to remove his tank-top as Korunae growls as he lashes out at Tsume and Toboe, launching to his feet as Toboe and Tsume's eyes go wide as they see the other wolf glaring at them, teeth bared, eyes glowing red as he takes a step back slowly, still clutching his bleeding side as he holds his whip. " Keep your hands off of me!" With that Korunae whirls around, dashing out past Kiba and Hige as the other two stare after him as they blink.

" Tsume. . .? Is. . .is. . .is. . .Korunae. . .ma. . .mad at me?" stutters Toboe as he looks up at the grey wolf with sad eyes. Tsume sighs as he looks at the pup as he shrugs to himself.

" I don't know Toboe. . .I know he's really angry at me though," mutters Tsume as he looks toward Kiba. " What do you think Kiba? Should we go after him?"

" He'll come back," says Kiba and nods slightly. " Just let him burn it out. . .he'll be back.. . .and Toboe. . .I'd have been pretty startled if you had started to take my shirt off too. . .add in that it's Kuronae. . .not good mix." Toboe just nods weakly as he looks at them as Kiba sighs to himself. " Toboe. . .I don't know what happened to Kuronae to make him hate physical contact. . .but he tries to avoid it at all costs. . .just. . .let him calm down. . ."
