Chapters/Parts: 4/?
Gradually, Ken looked down at the blond in his arms before pulling away to sit on the edge of the bed. He sighs sadly, “I never thought in a million years that me and you would be at each others’ throats. Everything was going so well between us and now… I don’t know… m-maybe it’s a sign…”
Chris quickly turned his head to look at Ken after the echo of those words and a worried frown made its way onto his face. He didn’t hesitate to go to his knees in front of the other blond, gently he took his hands into his own. He softly begs, “Please don’t say stuff like that. I love you, Ken with all of my heart. I just know we were meant to be together. I’ll prove it… right now.”
Slowly Chris eased his face close to kiss Ken, but the tattooed male stands from the bed and walks over toward their hotel room window. He glanced back at Chris and shakes his head. “That’s not going to work, not this time. You can’t use sex to try and fix everything between us. It seems our relationship has been nothing, but about sex. I want more than that.”
Chris listened to Ken before growing defensive, “What the hell has got into you?
First, you accuse me of cheating and I told you that I didn’t. Now you’re complaining about our relationship being all about sex? You’ve never complained before, why start now?”
Ken closed his eyes after Chris spoke, as much as he loved him, inwardly he was growing irritated with him. Right at that moment, he couldn’t bear being in the same room with him. The last thing Ken needed was for things to become more ugly between them. So without warning, he moves across the room and grabs for his suitcase.
Instant worry develops in Chris’ eyes as he watched Ken go for his belongings. He nervously asked, “W-where are you going?”
Ken glanced down at the floor for a long moment before looking at Chris and responding with a sad sigh, “I’m sorry, Chris. I can’t stay here. It’d be best for you and me, if we weren’t around each other right now. I… I need time to myself to think some things through.”
“Like what?” Chris questioned in confusion. The Minnesotan didn’t bother to explain instead he opened the room door and left before Chris had a chance to stop him.
Silently Chris stood staring at the closed hotel room door with a stunned face expression and tears in his eyes. He hadn’t expected Ken to leave like that. Chris knew he had to find someway to get Ken to open up to him and tell what’s on his mind. Chris loved Ken too much to lose him especially when he had no clue what he’s done to cause the distance between him and his young lover.
Chris glanced down at the floor briefly in thought before lifting his eyes to look at the door again. Quickly he pulled it back and stepped out in the corridor. Breathing a sigh of relief as he spots Ken heading toward the elevator.
“Ken… wait…”
Ken stopped at the sound of Chris’ voice and turned with a sigh as he came toward him. He begs, “Please Chris, don’t make this hard.”
Chris stared into Ken’s eyes as his filled with fresh tears. He speaks above a frayed whisper, “I need you. Please don‘t leave me.”
Ken lowered his head at the sound of Chris’ words and instantly he felt guilt. He couldn’t even bring himself to look the other blond in his eyes. So wordlessly Ken turned and didn’t hesitate to get on the pending elevator. When the machine’s doors closed, Ken found himself sliding to a puddle on the floor. He brought his knees to his chest, buried his head and cried out loud. Ken hated doing that to Chris, but he needed some time alone to figure out how he’d confront the other man about Jason’s text message.
-------------------
Adam stared at Jay for a long time after he confessed to leaving a cruel text message on Chris’ cell phone in hopes that Ken would find it. He shakes his head and questions, “Why, Jay? Why must you meddle in other people’s lives?”
Jason frowned in disapproval of Adam’s words before removing himself from the bed and strolling over to the small hotel room kitchen. He took a huge breath before turning and looking at Adam. “I promised myself after I found Chris in bed with Jeff that I’d get revenge against him for hurting me. The bastard has no fucking idea how much agony he put me through. I cried day and night over him. Now, I’m going to make sure he feels the same damn thing.”
“Don’t you think its time to let go of the past?” asked Adam as he moves from his chair to walk over to where Jason was in the kitchen.
The shorthaired blond grabbed a foam cup, walked over to the sink and filled it with water. He sips before responding, “Nope. ‘Cause every time I close my eyes, I see Chris in bed with Jeff.”
“And you think just by breaking up Chris and Ken that its going to make all the ‘nightmares’ go away? Well I have news for you, Jay. Whether your plan works or not, the memories are still going to be there haunting you. It’s not Chris or Ken’s fault that you can’t let go.”
“No, but it’s going to make me feel so good to watch Chris suffer,” said Jay with an evil smirk.
Adam shook his head in disbelief. He couldn’t believe the callous words that were coming from Jason’s mouth especially about two people that he considered his friends. “Well Chris and Ken happen to be two dear friends of mine…”
Instantly Jason glares at Adam and didn’t hesitate to cut him off with a warning,
“If you so much as tell them what I’ve done… trust me… friend or foe, you’ll feel my wrath.”
Adam’s eyes narrowed at Jason’s threat and he questioned, “Are you threatening me, Jay? I’ll have you know, that I’ve never been afraid of you.”
A snarl made it’s way onto the Toronto native’s face and he asked in a low tone, “Are you through yet?”
“Yeah, I am now,” said Adam as he made his way out of Jay’s hotel room. He glanced back at the door in thought. He knew Jay well enough to know that he had a way of scarring a person not physically, but mentally for the rest of their lives. Maybe he could tell someone else about Jason’s scheme and they could tell Chris and Ken. Adam smirks to himself as he thought of the perfect person. Paul LeVesque.
