chaos listened to the sound of the tiny bell around Abby's neck as it jingled. She was heading for the kitchen, where her food dish was. Canaan was gone doing something for Helmer. chaos was alone in the apartment with Abby. The little kitten provided much needed companionship to the blind youth. Now he wasn't alone in the apartment when Canaan had to work. He could hear the kitten batting around pieces of her food in her dish. She liked to play with her food before eating it.
Abby was a great addition to the household.
The boy settled himself down on the sofa, knowing that the little ball of fur would soon be pouncing on him. She liked doing that and then settling on his chest to take a nap.
Sure enough, he heard the pattering of kitty feet and felt a small weight land on his stomach.
“Abby!” he gasped, as the little kitten's claws poked him. “You're claws need trimming.”
The kitten pretended not to hear that and continued to needle him, purring loudly as she got herself comfortable on her nice comfy bed. chaos smiled and reached up a hand to pet her. She happily rubbed her head against his head, loving the attention. She was an attention hog, pestering chaos and Canaan when she didn't think she was getting enough.
Soon both the kitten and her owner were fast asleep on the sofa.
----
Canaan arrived home to an adorable sight.
chaos was lying stretched out on the sofa, Abby curled up on his stomach. Both of them were fast asleep, the little kitten purring softly. Canaan smiled and quietly went to start getting dinner ready.
Abby's head popped up as soon as she heard the sounds of someone in the kitchen and jumped off chaos. She trotted into the kitchen and sat at Canaan's feet, looking up at him with huge kitty-eyes.
The Realian stared back at her, unfazed.
“Weren't you just asleep?” he questioned. The kitten blinked, tilting her head to the side and doing her best to look so cute and adorable that he would feed her.
“That isn't going to work.”
She gave a pitiful sounding mew.
“There is already food in your dish.”
Abby didn't move and kept up her `I'm-So-Cute-And-Adorable-You-Just-Have-To-Feed-Me' act. Canaan sighed, picking up the kitten and setting her by her dish.
She began eating.
The Realian sighed and went back to making dinner for him and chaos.
He didn't think that he would ever understand cats.
----
chaos was woken from the blissful warmth of sleep by Abby licking his face. The kitten had apparently decided that the only way to wake up her owner was to thoroughly clean him.
“Abby…” chaos groaned, gently pushing the little ball of fur away. He grimaced and wiped the remains of the `kitty-kisses' off on his sleeve.
He heard Canaan laughing at the sight from the kitchen. Slipping off the couch, he made his way to where his Realian lover was. chaos had become quiet adept at finding his way around the apartment by himself.
“Just you wait,” the silver haired youth grumbled, “she's going to wake you up one day like that and then you'll know why I was making faces.”
Said kitten was currently twining around Canaan's legs, doing her best to look cute, innocent, and not guilty of anything.
“Are you hungry?” Canaan asked chaos, smiling softly at him, though he knew the boy couldn't see.
Before chaos could answer, Abby let out a loud meow.
Both chaos and Canaan began laughing while the kitten looked indignant.
“Alright, you'll get something too,” Canaan said, shaking his head. He got his and chaos' dinner on the table and then gave Abby her food.
“She's getting spoiled,” Canaan grumbled. chaos laughed at this.
“You're the one spoiling her by feeding her so much,” he giggled.
Abby watched the two eating dinner as she washed her face with a tiny paw. They were so amusing to her.
“Tomorrow I have to go away for a few days,” Canaan said quietly. “Will you be okay?”
“Jin was nice enough to volunteer to look after me,” chaos replied softly. “I'll be fine. Besides, if anyone comes, Abby will just distract them with her cuteness while Jin takes them out.”
Canaan smiled at this. He was glad to see chaos opening up more and acting a little less afraid. It had been a long road to this point.
The two finished their dinner while Abby sat beside Canaan's chair, hoping to coax him to giving her some of the tuna they were eating. She was pulling out all the stops and the Realian finally gave in and gave her a small piece.
Abby daintily took the treat and went back to her food dish to play with the tuna before eating it.
“Like I said, you're the one spoiling her,” chaos said, trying and failing to hide his laughter.
Canaan smiled, but said nothing. If it meant that spoiling the kitten would bring smiles and laughter to chaos, then he would certainly continue.
He'd do anything to keep chaos happy.

Abby is based on my own kitty, who does all the things Abby does in this fic.
