Author's note: I hope you all enjoyed the last chapter of this little drama. Our favorite love birds are reunited at long last but under these tragic circumstances. Alexis has become a dhampir thanks to Jaden and now he has to cope with the fact she'll become a target of racial prejudice from human and vampire agents of the Darkwatch, even from the Brigadier General himself, Trent Creed. As for Titan, will he listen to Amnael and succeed in capturing Jaden? Let's begin the fifth installment of our vampire tale.

Chapter 5:
Bombshell

Alexis Rhodes woke up as she rubbed her eyes to get the sleep out of her. The beautiful duelist checked her surroundings and realized she wasn't in Jaden's dorm anymore. The place she was in looked alien to her, it was a steel grey room with hospital beds aligned along the walls. She looked around the room to see where Jaden was but couldn't find him. Alexis trying to figure out where the hell she was.

'Where am I?' Alexis asked mentally. 'What is this place?'

"Hey, it's nice to see you're awake," A familiar voice said to her.

Alexis turned her head to see Jaden dressed in a leather-clad uniform draped in a leather overcoat. Alexis let out a sigh of relief as she said, "Jaden, you scared me. Where am I?"

"You're in the Darkwatch, sweetheart," Jaden said. "I brought you here because...I bit you."

"Bit me?" Alexis repeated. "What are you talking about?"

"When you and I were making love, my vampire side somehow kicked in and I...turned you," Jaden said sadly.

"Turned me?" Alexis asked in a frightened voice. "I'm a vampire now?"

"No, half," Jaden said as he presented a mirror to Alexis. "See for yourself."

Alexis' hand accepted the mirror. Alexis gazed into the mirror and saw vampire fangs in her mouth. Alexis shivered in fear as she dropped the mirror to the floor and shattered it into pieces.

"Alexis, I'm so very sorry," Jaden said. "I didn't mean to do this to you."

"Jaden, what's gonna happen to me?" Alexis asked as her voice quivered.

"I can answer that," Dr. Jenkins said as he came into the med bay. "Very much like vampires, dhampirs can feed on blood. The thirst for blood can consume you but I have a solution to that, Alexis. I'll prescribe this serum to you to keep your blood cravings under control."

"Will it work?" Alexis asked.

"Of course. It's a good alternative to the Nightstalker armor," Dr. Jenkins said as he pulled out an injection gun. "Lend out your arm and I'll give you the serum."

Alexis held out her arm as Eustace injected the serum into her. Brock and Irving came into the med bay to greet Alexis and Jaden.

"Jaden, it's nice to see you," Irving said.

"I heard ya gave Creed a nasty shiner last night," Brock said.

"Score one for us vampires, man," Irving remarked.

"Creed wouldn't stop yelling when I was treating him," Eustace said. "Swearing up and down like some god damn drunk."

"Fuck him, I was just defending Alexis' honor," Jaden said. "He got what he deserved. That old retard should keep his mouth shut next time."

"So this is Alexis," Irving said. "Dude, you're so lucky to have a beautiful girl with you."

Alexis blushed. "Thanks."

"Consider yerself a member of the Darkwatch now, little lady," Brock said. "The ladies' locker room is down the hall from here, right next to the mens'. So suit up and get ready for your training."

"Ok," Alexis said nerviously.

"Jaden, escort her to the womens' locker room," Brock said.

"All right," Jaden said. "Let's go, Alexis."

Alexis got up from the bed and was escorted to the locker rooms by Jaden. After arriving to the locker rooms, Alexis entered the ladies' locker room while Jaden stood outside. She had gotten some hateful looks from female human and vampire agents as she got to her coffin-shaped locker and opened it. Inside of the locker was her new Darkwatch uniform: a black catsuit, black calf high boots, leather gloves with claw-like metal tips, and a Darkwatch skull badge. Alexis donned her new uniform and stepped out of the locker room as Jaden suddenly felt aroused upon seeing Alexis in her new uniform.

"God damn, you're looking hot!" Jaden exclaimed.

"Thanks," Alexis said as she smiled. "Ya know, I always wanted to wear something like this."

"I always knew you would look good in leather," Jaden said with a dirty smirk.

Alexis smiled upon hearing Jaden's comment. Trent came walking down the hallway with various bruises on his face and looked pretty pissed off.

"So the whore's awake at last," Creed insulted.

"Hey, where the fuck do you get off!?" Alexis shouted.

"I'll give you another beatdown if you insult her again, old man," Jaden said angrily.

"Come near me and I'll throw you both in the cell," Creed said. "Now march your cute little ass down to the training room, sweetheart. I don't want any more bullshit from the both of you."

"Whatever," Alexis said as she and Jaden walked off.

(Duel Academy, Jaden's dorm)

Tyranno returned to the freshmen dorm after spending the night at the sophmore dorm and watching the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its prequel. He opened the door to see no one inside one of the beds.

"What in the name of Full Metal Jacket!" Hassleberry shouted.

He dropped his Texas Chainsaw Massacre dvds to the floor and ran out of the dorm to find Syrus and the others. Atticus was flaunting himself to the ladies, much to Bastion and Syrus' embarrassment. As the ladies were swooning to Atticus' charm, Tyranno ran came running on by and almost bumped into Atticus.

"Hassleberry, what the hell is wrong with you?" Atticus asked.

"Your sister went AWOL, soldier," Tyranno said as he panted.

"What?" Atticus asked with concern.

"Your sister's gone, soldier," Tyranno replied.

"Oh, my god!" Atticus declared.

"Dude, first Jaden went missing and now Alexis," Syrus said. "Where the hell could they have disappeared to?"

"We should go find Professor Banner and tell him about this," Bastion said.

The students headed to Prof. Banner's classroom to notify him about Alexis' sudden disappearance. In the classroom, Lyman and Vellian talking about retirement as Syrus and co. stormed on in.

"Hey, you brats! Class hours are over!" Dr. Crowler shouted.

"But we gotta tell Prof. Banner something," Syrus pleaded.

"That can wait," Dr. Crowler said. "Now scram! We're busy at the moment."

"Crowler, shut up," Prof. Banner said. "Syrus, what's going on?"

"Alexis is missing," Syrus replied.

"What!?" Dr. Crowler shouted. "Alexis went missing!? Someone call security!"

"You didn't call security about Jaden going missing!" Syrus exclaimed. "Why are you worried about Alexis all of a sudden?"

"She's the star of the senior dorm!" Crowler declared. "I don't give a shit about Jaden but I'm very concerned about Alexis! Call security now!"

"I want both Jaden and Alexis to be safe, doc," Atticus said. "I'm not just concerned about my sister, I'm concerned about Jaden, too."

"Whatever," Dr. Crowler said as he picked up the phone.

Vellian called security about the recent disappearances. The head security officer told him they would arrive within a few minutes. As the security team arrived, they asked one of the students about what was going on. Syrus stepped up and told them about Jaden and Alexis going missing. The head security officer decided to have the teachers and students to search for the two lovebirds while they contact the police.

Syrus and co. grabbed flashlights from the closet because it was getting dark outside. Lyman told everyone to split up and search the grounds. Dr. Crowler didn't want no part of the search but Lyman became insistent about it. Soon enough, everyone scattered into the woods to find Alexis and Jaden. Atticus waved his flashlight around as he called out the names of his sister and her boyfriend.

"Jaden! Alexis!" Atticus yelled.

No response. He walked further into the darkness of the woods as he shouted, "Alexis! Jaden! Where are you!?"

Once again, nothing. All Atticus could get were whispers in the wind. Suddenly, he heard a hiss somewhere in the shadows. Atticus was a little spooked but he wasn't gonna let it distract him from the search. As he ventured further into the woods to find his sister and her lover, he heard a sinister laugh. Then a blur zoomed through the trees. His eyes widened as he heard another sinister laugh.

"What the fuck was that?" Atticus asked himself. "Syrus? Bastion? Chazz? Is that you?"

Atticus heared another hiss as he shouted, "This ain't fuckin' funny, you guys! Seriously, knock off this god damn shit!"

"Atticus..." A dark voice said.

"Who the fuck is here!?" Atticus shouted.

"I'm gonna get you..." The voice said.

"Show yourself before I kick your ass!" Atticus screamed.

A cackle echoed throughout the surrounding area. "If you say so, Atty."

Atticus backed up until he brushed against something. He turned around to see a shadow hanging upside down on a tree branch.

"Y-you..." Atticus quivered.

"Hello, Atticus or should I say, Nightshroud," Titan said. "It's been awhile."

"What the fuck do you want?" Atticus asked.

"I heard you were looking for your beautiful sister and her lover," Titan said as he got off the branch and landed on his feet.

"Yeah, what's it to ya?" Atticus asked.

"I know what happened to her," Titan said.

"Tell me what happened to her! If you killed..." Atticus screamed.

"Relax, she's alive," Titan said. "I'll tell you what happened but I don't think you'll like it."

"Just tell me!" Atticus insisted.

"Your sister became a dhampir because of Jaden," Titan said.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Atticus asked.

"Don't believe me? Then I'll show you!" Titan declared as he grabbed Atticus and disappeared along with his hostage.

(Darkwatch HQ)

Jaden and Alexis were running through the holographic town of Hangtown. They fought through a gauntlet of monsters such as Riflemen, Keggers, Vipers, and Banditos. Alexis was armed with redeemers and the shotgun to fight the holo-monsters up close while Jaden kept a distance and shot the Riflemen with his Range Rifle to keep them off his lover's back. Finally, they found and destroyed the holo-Mark of Evil thus ending Alexis' training. They exited the training room as Creed walked up to them and said, "You've done pretty well, halfbreed. You and your boyfriend here worked pretty well as a team. Now I have a mission for you two freaks."

Jaden and Alexis gave him an angry look upon hearing what Trent said.

"Halfbreed, in your last mission, you failed to kill that bastard, Titan," Gen. Creed said. "Now, he has kidnapped this boy named Atticus Rhodes."

Alexis gasped when she heard her brother's name. "What the fuck! My big brother Atty was kidnapped!? Why didn't you tell me earlier!?"

"You're getting pissed off? Good," Trent said. "Channel that vampire rage into your first mission, darlin'."

"I know I should've killed that asshole when I had the chance!" Jaden shouted. "This time, he's gonna die!"

"This is your fault, halfbreed," Trent said. "If you killed Titan, Atticus wouldn't've been dragged into this."

"Shut the fuck up!" Alexis screamed. "It wasn't Jaden's fault when my brother got kidnapped."

"Hmph. Nonetheless, go see Roy the weapons master PDQ," Creed said as he walked off.

"What an asshole," Alexis said.

"Yeah. Next time, I'll shove that cane up his ass," Jaden said.

The two dhampir lovers headed to Roy's office. Jaden introduced Alexis to Roy the weapons master. Then Roy's assistant came into the room with some dual crossbows in his hands.

"Hey, Roy. The dual crossbows are ready," The assistant said.

"Thanks, Lester," Roy said as he took the crossbows. "Oh, Jaden and Alexis, this is my weapons assistant, Lester Cole."

"How's it goin', baby?" Lester asked.

"Don't call me 'baby'," Alexis said.

"Whoa, my apologies," Lester said. "It's been awhile since I've been in the battlefield."

"Lester took a desk job here after being injured in battle," Roy said. "But you should've seen him in battle, spewing vernacular here and there while fighting vampires."

"Yeah, whoo, bring it on sucka, that's my kind of shit!" Lester spouted.

"Bro's a little crazy," Jaden said.

"He's a good man but he can't shake the feeling of battle off him," Roy said. "Take these dual crossbows. These babies can shoot fire arrows in rapid succession and blow up targets. Be careful when you handle them though."

"Sweet," Jaden said as he and Alexis took the crossbows.

"Yeah, they are," Roy said. "Here's some additional ammos for your redeemers and take these Argus shotguns too."

"Roy, are those kids prepped yet?" Marcus' voice boomed over the intercom.

"Yeah, Bleszinski," Roy said.

"Good. Send them over to the vehicle bay for the mission," Marcus said.

"Will do, Roy out," Roy said. "All right, kids, off you go and good luck."

"Thanks," Jaden said.

"Stay cool, baby," Lester said.

"Don't call me baby," Alexis said as she and Jaden left.

The two dhampir duelists headed to the vehicle bay. They saw Marcus, Brock, Irving, and a squad of Regulators standing next to the Hunter-Killer chopper.

"Jaden, nice seeing you again," Marcus said.

"Hey, bro. Marcus, I want you to meet Alexis," Jaden greeted.

"Hello," Alexis said.

"Very charmed to meet you," Marcus said.

"Before the two of youse leave for your next mission, Creed said ya'll be accompanied by additional Regulators," Brock said.

"Why would that jerkoff want to do that?" Alexis asked.

"He wants to make sure youse both don't screw up and there's a possibility Titan may have some backup," Brock said.

"Fuck," Jaden said.

"I know but orders is orders," Irving said.

"Whatever," Jaden said.

"Board the chopper, kids," Marcus said. "We have a vampire to slay."

Jaden, Alexis, and the squad of Regulators boarded the Hunter-Killer chopper and headed back to the city. Marcus activated the cloaking devicing on the chopper as it crossed into the Domino skyline. As the dhampir duelists and the Regulators sat there, one of the Regulators leaned over and said, "You must be the the new kids. My name is John."

"How's it goin', bro?" Jaden asked. "I'm Jaden."

"And I'm Alexis," Alexis said as she looked at John's necklace of vampire teeth. "Nice necklace."

"Thanks," John said. "I made this from the vampires I've killed in the past."

"What did you do? Rip their fangs off while they're alive?" Jaden asked.

"Yeah," John said. "The teeth I've collected from my kill are like trophies to me."

"Pretty badass, dude," Jaden said. "Are you gonna add more?"

"Got that right," John said.

The Hunter-Killer continued flying through the city. Finally, the chopper landed at an abandoned factory. Jaden, Alexis, and the Regulators exited the chopper, cocked their weapons, and made their way inside. It was dark inside the factory and since Jaden and Alexis were half-vampires, they could see in the dark while John and his fellow Regulators had to use flashlights to make their way through the darkness. A scent of blood suddenly stinged the vampire-human hybrid duelists' noses as they let out hisses.

"What's going on?" John asked.

"I smell blood," Jaden said.

"My brother must be nearby," Alexis added.

"Lead the way," John said. "Who knows what the fuck we'll come across."

Jaden and Alexis lead John and the Regulators further into the bowels of the factory. It was then they heard echoes of growling and hissing through the hallways. What added to the suspicion and fear were the sounds of human victims screaming. They headed down the hallway to find the source of the sounds. A few minutes later, Jaden, Alexis, John, and the Regulators stumbled upon a gruesome scene. There were zombie-like vampires killing human beings and torturing them excessively. The sounds of broken bones and screaming made them want to cringe.

"Oh, my fucking God," John said.

"Where's my brother?" Alexis asked in a concerned tone.

"Up here," A deep sinister voice boomed.

Jaden, Alexis, and the Regulators looked up to see Titan standing next to Atticus, who was bound in chains and bleeding profusely, on a elevated platform.

"You bastard! Let him go!" Alexis screamed.

"You want him, sweetheart? Then get through my minions first," Titan said. "Kill them!"

The emaciated vampires turned their gaze at Jaden, Alexis, and the Regulators and roared. They charged at the Darkwatch agents as John ordered, "Go, save that kid! We'll handle these guys!"

"But..." Jaden said before John cut him off.

"Just go!" John shouted.

Jaden nodded and went after Titan and Atticus with Alexis. One vampire jumped at John but he killed it before it could attack him. Alexis and Jaden ran through a jungle of machines to catch up to Titan and his captive. Titan ran for his life as he carried Atticus on his shoulder. As he stopped at a widened portion of the platform bridge, Jaden and Alexis vampire jumped onto the elevated platform and cornered him.

"If it isn't Kevin Thorn and his vixen sidekick, Ariel," Titan said. "Are you ready to dance?"

"Let Atticus go, you bastard!" Jaden screamed.

"Oh, I'll let him go," Titan said. "I'll drop him fifteen feet to the floor."

"You son of a bitch!" Jaden screamed as he and Alexis ran after Titan.

Titan used his vampire speed to dodge the attacking dhampir duelists. He summoned a few zombie vampires while he made his escape. Jaden and Alexis used their Argus shotguns to blast the vampires away so they could go after Titan. While they were killing his minions, Titan climbed the ladder up to the roof with Atticus in tow. As Jaden tore a zombie vampire's head off, he noticed Titan was making his escape.

"Alexis, look! Titan's gettin' away!" Jaden declared.

"What the fuck!?" Alexis screamed as she snapped a vampire's neck.

Jaden and Alexis ran to the ladder and climbed up to the roof to see Titan standing there with Atticus lying beside him.

"Let him go, Titan," Jaden said. "This doesn't involve Atticus."

"You're right, this doesn't involve him," Titan said. "I kidnapped him so I can kidnap your whore of a girlfriend."

"You bastard!" Alexis screamed. "I'll kill you!"

In a rage, she went after the black clad vampire but Titan grabbed Alexis by the neck and held her off the ground. Alexis struggled to get free but Titan kept his grip vice tight around her neck. Titan suddenly felt a hot sting in his shoulder that made him release Alexis. He grabbed his wounded shoulder while hissing in pain. Titan saw Jaden with his redeemer drawn on him. Jaden ran at Titan and kneed him in the chin. He grabbed Titan's arm and flipped him to the concrete. Titan kicked himself to his feet as he said, "Nice flip but it's going to take more than that to stop me."

Titan used his vampire speed and knocked Jaden to the ground. He picked him up over his shoulder, smashed his back against a roof access, and ran across the roof to slam him on his back. Titan grabbed Jaden by his hair to pick him up.

"Stupid halfbreed, you are weak and pathetic," Titan said. "Why Amnael chose you, I don't know. If I had my way, I'd kill you in a heartbeat."

Alexis jumped onto Titan's back, forcing him to release Jaden. Alexis held on to Titan's neck as he tried to swing her off his back. Titan grabbed Alexis' hair and swung her off him. He choked slammed her to the ground. Jaden grabbed his two redeemers and fired several rounds at him. Titan was pumped full of bullets but it didn't faze him. Titan smacked Jaden's guns away and grabbed the two lovebirds.

"This ends now!" Titan screamed.

"Think again!" A familiar voice shouted as a flaming arrow zoomed toward Titan but missed.

The flaming arrow struck a nearby water tower and blew up. Titan turned around to see John standing there with one of the dual crossbows given to Jaden and Alexis from Roy.

"Grrr. Stay out of this, human," Titan said as he dropped Jaden and Alexis to the ground and went after John.

"Here, take this!" John shouted as he tossed the crossbow at the two dhampirs.

Alexis grabbed the crossbow while John was bashed in the chin by Titan. Titan opened his mouth to bite John but Jaden stopped him.

"Bite this!" Jaden shouted as he headbutted Titan in the nose.

Titan stumbled backwards while Alexis aimed the crossbow at him.

"Hey, Titan," Alexis said as Titan looked at her. "See you in Hell."

She fired several arrows at Titan. He grabbed a sheet of metal that was nearby and used it as a shield. The arrows made contact with the sheet of metal then Titan tossed it at her. Alexis dodged the sheet metal before it exploded into pieces. She fired more arrows at him but he dodged every arrow with finesse. Alexis was now down to her last arrow.

"God dammit!" Alexis shouted.

"You're down to your last shot," Titan said. "Try and make it count."

As she took aim, Titan was ready to dodge but it wasn't going to happen. Jaden grabbed Titan as he ordered, "Alexis, finish him now!"

Alexis fired her last arrow at Titan and this time, it impaled him in his mask. Titan stood there as his head exploded into fragment of skull, brain matter, and blood. Some of it got splattered all over Jaden's hair and face. After releasing its bowels, Titan's body collasped to the ground then was claimed by the forces of the Shadow Realm.

"God damn, he got blood all over my best uniform," Jaden said.

"Nevermind about your uniform. What about my brother?" Alexis asked.

"He's just fine," John said "After stitching up his wound, he'll be good as new."

"Thank God," Alexis said with relief.

Afterwards, Atticus was taken to the Darkwatch med bay where the cut on his head was stitched up then was returned to the school. Atticus regained consciousness to find himself in the freshmen dorm, surrounded by his friends.

"Oh, my head," Atticus groaned. "What happened to me?"

"You disappeared while we were searching for Jaden and your sister, sarge," said Hassleberry.

"Where were you?" Syrus asked.

"I dunno. I was knocked out for most of the time," Atticus said. "But for some reason, I imagined Jaden and Alexis were together, fighting vampires."

"Vampires?" Bastion echoed. "There are no such thing."

"Guys, I have something to tell ya," Tyranno said.

"What is it, Hassleberry?" Syrus asked.

"I kept this from ya for sometime," Tyranno said. "I saw Jaden the other night."

"What?" Bastion asked.

"You're bullshittin'," Syrus said.

"I'm not bullshittin'. I saw Jaden and he changed," Tyranno said.

"Changed? What happened?" Atticus asked.

"He...became a...dhampir," Tyranno said.

"Dhampir? How could he become dhampir?" Syrus asked.

"He told me he was bitten by a vampire," Hassleberry said.

"Those bite marks on his neck were actually...vampire bites?" Syrus asked startledly.

"How could he become a half vampire after being bitten by a full one?" Bastion asked.

"It's kinda hard to explain," Tyranno said. "Besides, we all know now Jaden is alive somewhere."

"Yeah but what about my sister?" Atticus asked.

"I'm sure she's alive too, soldier," Tyranno said.

"I just hope she's all right," Atticus said.

(Darkwatch HQ)

Alexis was on the bed in Jaden's room, sulking about her brother. After a hard fought battle against Titan, she wanted to check on her brother to see if he was okay but Creed wouldn't allow it. Jaden came walking in and sat on the bed next to Alexis.

"Are you alright?" Jaden asked. "You seem kinda down."

"I was just thinking about Atticus," Alexis said.

"Atticus will be ok," Jaden said. "Titan or any other vampire won't bother him anymore."

"But as long as Amnael is out there, Atty or any of our friends for that matter will still be in danger," Alexis said.

"Don't worry, we'll make sure no harm comes to our friends," Jaden reassured.

"Good to hear," Alexis said.

"As long as we're together, Amnael won't stand a chance," Jaden said.

"Thanks, Jaden," Alexis said with a smile. "That's what I love about you, always being there for everyone."

"Of course," Jaden said. "Now give me some sugar, baby."

Alexis smiled. "Don't call me baby."

Alexis and Jaden kissed each other and collapsed onto the bed.

(Domino City, unknown location)

"Titan has failed me for one last time," Amnael said.

"Let me go after them!" Don Zaloog shouted. "I'm eager to capture that kid for you, boss!"

"No," Amnael said. "It's Tania's turn to bring Jaden to me."

"Me? Oh, good," Tania said.

"You're not gonna kill him like the last fools tried to do?" Amnael asked.

"Don't worry," Tania said. "I won't screw up like Camula and Titan. When I bring him here, can he be my pet?"

"That's if you succeed," Amnael said.

"I assure you, I won't fail," Tania said as she morphed into a tiger and disappeared.

End notes: Chapter 5 ends and it hasn't been that long since I posted chapter 4. Originally, I was gonna post my sequel to The Crow: Takai Kitsune first but I decided to finish this first. Two vampires down, three more to go. Jaden and Alexis are working their way up to finally destroy Amnael. What does Tania have planned for our vampire-human hybrid duelist and will she make Alexis jealous? Enjoy the fifth chapter, my fellow wolves and vampire fans and have a happy Valentines Day.
