CHAPTER 12: Wild Card Strikes; New players enter the fray

MEGALOMAX!" the Dibison opened fire at its black-and-white enemy: A BZ-001 LeoBlaze, armed with a Command Wolf's Dual Barreled Cannon.

The sleek Arcadian Zoid easily dodged the assault, and opened fire. Its weapon, again, had little effect on the massive enemy.

Underneath his mask, the pilot was sweating. This was turning into a battle of attrition, and at this rate, he was going to lose. The situation worsened when an Iron Kong Command Type picked up his Zoid and threw it straight into the Dibison's artillery barrage.

"Oh YEAH!! The Schubaltz Brothers win, AGAIN! Great job, Karl.

Thanks lil' bro. So let's take this guy in." turning to their vanquished opponent, who'd just managed to extract his sorry ass from the hunk of "Swiss Cheese" that used to be his Zoid, the stern officer at the helm of the Iron Kong asked:

"Who are you, warrior?"

"I'm flattered that you should consider a mere mercenary such as myself the equal of a seasoned warrior.

Cut the chatter, "Wild Card". We are hereby placing you under arrest!" snapped the Dibison's pilot. The two of them exited their respective Zoids, and the mercenary started running for the Iron Kong. He was stopped by two shots, which nearly blasted his legs off.

On a nearby cliff, stood two tiny dinosaur-type zoids, smaller than Gun Snipers. One was blue, the other white. On the zoids' backs, the cockpits were open, and 2 warriors stood up. In the blue one was a man, his face hidden by a hooded, blue-gray cloak. The pilot of the white one was shorter and slimmer, but wore an identical cloak. Probably, the second was a woman. Both their eyes were hidden behind sleek, black sunglasses. When he spoke up, it was with a deep, resounding voice, which felt strangely commanding.

"You're a fool, Rosso." The guy with the red mask removed it, revealing thickset features, and mid-length red hair. The warrior continued "You could have easily defeated them, if you had not been stupid enough to arm your LeoBlaze with that weapon. If you wanted to fight long-range, you should've picked a RheoStriker.

Who the hell are you, anyway?

Good point, Lieutenant. I am Phantom. This" he said, pointing to his teammate, "is Shade. We are the Wraith Team. And now, we will leave you to your business."

With that, the cockpits closed, and the Zoids disappeared.

Commander Altiel? Another attack on our facilities, on the fringe of the Elemia Desert. Two Zoids.

What about the Restoration?

Unit 1 is 80% rebuilt, unit 2 is 50%, and the two original cores have been fused. The new Zoid is 25% built.

Ok. So, you mind introducing me?" Dr, Toros was talking to the Doctor from Tempstown, who'd come with them to the Hover Cargo to transport Moonbay and Irvine. Irvine was in Mike's room, and Moonbay in Bit's. Mike slept in the spacious cockpit of the Dark Spiner, and Bit slept on the living room couch. It had been a week since Bit and Mike had come to Tempstown for supplies, and seen the crash. Irvine's condition was drastically improving, but Moonbay was still in a coma.

"Okay. Jim, this is Bit, that's Mike, my daughter Leena, there's Fiona, and that's Sanders, the newest member of the team. Over there's the Hunters Team, Brad, Naomi, and Jenny. And Jamie here leads the Wild Eagles Team, with Pierce and Tyson, their son. In the corner back there is Leon, my son, and our Organois, Siege and Night. Guys" Doc said, looking around, "This is Dr. Jimmy Jameson, an old friend of mine. We were in High School together."

Just then, a Communication came in.

"Guys, we have another Zoid Battle!

All right! Who is it?

Says here the Wraith Team. 2 warriors, Battle Mode 0983. They both…well, that's peculiar.

What is it, Dad?

Well, they both use Arcadian Zoids, and they didn't release data.

What? So you're saying we've got no idea what we're gonna be up against?
