CHAPTER 13: Spilling the beans-Bit finds out!

The Battle is over! The Winner is…The Champ Team!"

The brown-haired pilot hopped out of the cockpit of his Zoid, a jet-black Dark Horn. The Large Zoid was armed with a Hiblit Vulcan Gun, and a high-powered beam cannon. He smirked, and whispered

"Leena, my sweet, this victory is for you."

The Blue Zoid landed as Raven exited the cockpit of his Saix. Reese hopped out and greeted her teammate, dropping the bag of groceries at his feet. He picked them up, grumbling and glaring at her.

"You know, you COULD carry these yourself!

And risk hurting myself? You're kidding!" she answered jokingly as she looked back. He hated when he looked at her like that. It was a look so full of amusement at his anger.

"Fuck. Shadow, let's go." The jet-black Organoid was sitting on his behind, talking to Specular, the blue, raptor-type Reese had with her. Thinking back, Raven realized the two of them had a lot in common: both orphans, raised with a pure hatred for the Backdraft Commission, both piloted a GenoSaurer, and both were privileged enough to have Organoid partners. That, plus the fact that Reese was a real looker, might be the reasons he stuck around. And she was skilled.

She was a VERY skilled fighter.

The black-haired boy shook his head, then dropped the groceries on the kitchen counter and started preparing lunch.

Leena sighed as she gazed at her ring. No date had been set yet, but Bit was leaving less and less. His excuse was that there was nothing left to salvage, but Leena didn't buy it. Bit had just left, but Harry was busy repairing his Zoids after the battle. "At least Mary's gone. I hate her, she's such a snobby little bitch. Should I tell Naomi about the wedding? I'm gonna need to find someone. No, not Naomi. I could ask Moonbay!" As the though hit her, she cheered up. Moonbay could keep a secret. She and Leena were great friends, and even though Bit and Moonbay were very close, she wouldn't tell him. She smiled, and dozed off.

"So, Harry. What's up?

Nothing, Bit. What about you and Moonbay.

Not much. So, " Bit asked sneakily "When's the Big Day?

We don't know yet." Realizing what he said, Harry blushed furiously, and slapped himself almost unconscious, before Bit, aided by Benjamin and Sebastian, calmed him down.

"How did you know?

Let's see…could it be the bright new ring on her hand, the frequent, encrypted e-mails from you, the fact that Leena leaves immediately after I do, picked up by YOU, the fact that you gave her TWO brand-new Zoids in the past three years, the constant packages for Leena from you, or the fact that she's constantly playing White Reflection while looking at that hilarious photo of you guys from the Roller Coaster in Romeo City, and that ring? It was easy to work out.

Then, will you…

I know what you're going to ask, and sure, why the hell not?

Thanks.

Hey, Raven!" Reese looked at the black-haired young man sitting across from her. "the food's pretty good. So, you wanna go to the movies or something?

Do you know what tomorrow is, Reese?

The…oh. The fifteenth.

That's right. The anniversary of…of…

I know." He started breaking up, and a tear rolled out of his right eye. She wiped it off as it rolled down over the red tattoo. "They must really have been amazing. Your parents.

They were. My dad was the best. He was great. He taught me that Zoids aren't just weapons, that they have a consciousness of their own. And my mom…" he remembered a photograph…her laughing, purple eyes, her short brown hair. She'd been the nicest person in the world, and both had been torn away from him when he was just 4 years old.

"You know what?" Reese had taken a seat next to him. She gazed into his deep, purple eyes, and edged forward, imperceptively.

"What?

I'll go with you." She leaned forward, and kissed him. And in that few seconds, she realized her feelings for him were much deeper than she'd thought. She realized she loved him, and as he kissed her back, she felt like she was in paradise. They broke apart, and he answered

"Thank you."

He got up, put his cloak on, and sharply said, "Let's go!" the two Zoids followed him, and Reese got up and followed, grabbing her coat and putting it on.
