CHAPTER 14: More news…

Two in the morning, Friday, the fifteenth of March. Daegan Peninsula: the old Obscura residence.

Raven walked to the marble headstone, seven foot high by six foot wide. The names of Raven's parents were on the stone. He'd gone to it alone, and stood outlined against the rising sun. He knelt, and placed two red roses on the marble, then prayed.

Reese looked at him, and realized she didn't know much about him. All she knew was that, whoever he was, she loved him, and she felt sure he felt the same way. The events of the previous morning came to mind, and she saw, as he turned, that he was extremely well-built. He was facing a sea of glass, and he stayed there for about 10 minutes, before heading back to the car, a Chevrolet M-48X, blood red. He looked at her, then they went home. And she saw, from the determined look on his face, that he was planning a strike against the enemy…

Raven drove incessantly. He looked at Reese, who was sleeping in the passenger's seat. She was using his cloak as a blanket, and her head was leaned towards his shoulder. And as he looked at her, he realized how incredibly beautiful she was. And he also remembered the previous morning, and felt something he'd never felt before. He sighed as they arrived. She was still asleep, so he gently picked her up, and her head fell against his shoulder. He laid her on the bed, and pulled the blanket over her. He looked at her, for a second, and then turned back. As he moved towards his room, he saw Specular. He reopened the door to Reese's room, then walked in with the blue Organoid. she was still sound asleep. He kissed her forehead, before whispering good night, and walking out. As he lay down on his bed, he finally admitted to himself that he was truly, deeply in love with her…

Immediately, the two Lightning Saix dashed forward as the two Red Horns charged, the Iron Kong hanging back. That's when Alex made his entrance…in a TG-class Command Wolf: White and black, with two large boosters and a single, long-range Rifle. It also had one EZ36 Beam assault unit mounted forward of the boostes, on sliding swivel joints. His, however, also had a golden slash painted between the ears, reaching halfway down the opaque blue cockpit. And it was highlighted in royal blue. He immediately deployed the beam units in shield mode, and charged. The Iron Kong was taken aback by the assault, and a well-placed shot in between the thruster units caused its arsenal to explode. He activated his boosters and joined his parents.

The three of them ran through between the two Red Horns at about 300 km/h. the two Zoids were already damaged by almost constant fire from the modified cannons on the Lightning Saix's backs; the guns were in fact mounted on a small, strong swivel joint. The slipstream from the three Zoids, a sonic wave, almost, sent the two heavy Zoids flying, their systems frozen.

THE BATTLE IS OVER! THE WINNER IS…THE LIGHTNING TEAM!"

From a distance, a shadowed figure in a black cloak watched the battle. He smirked, and turned away, his billowing cloak swishing behind him, a glint of gold visible at his belt. He hopped into a Zoid hidden in a gully, and slunk away, a high, cold laugh clearly audible as the small, sleek Zoid ran down the canyon…
