Chapter 3

Seto watched from the corner of the room as the guests began to file out of the house, each with happy looks on their faces. A few had ended up drunk and were being escorted home by a few of his servants. Yugi and friends had left about an hour before hand. Only Raven, Malik, and Jensea remained.

Jensea smiled at Raven and nudged her arm. "Thank you. For pushing me out there."

Raven smirked. "All in a days work." She smiled at her friend. "Well, now that the party's over, what are we gonna do?"

"Dunno." Jensea shrugged and took the glass of water that Malik offered her. Raven sipped hers while deep in thought, her eyes unblinking. Jensea nudged her. "You okay?"

"Hn? Yeah." Raven smiled warmly. "Here comes Seto."

Seto rejoined them and smiled at Jensea, taking her hand. "I've had rooms prepared for you all here." He said, his thunderous voice making Jensea quiver in delight. Malik slipped his arm around Raven's waist and led her up the stairs when Seto gave the directions for her room. Jensea stayed behind with Seto.

"So," she smiled. "I had fun tonight, Seto."

"I, too, had fun." He smiled and kissed her hand. "Come, I'll take you to your room. You look like you could use some time off of your feet."

She smiled at him. "Hold on a sec?" She used his shoulder to balance herself as she lifted one leg and removed the laced heel and then switched, doing the same with th other. She moaned as her feet touched cold marble. "Feels good to get those off." She smiled at him. "Now, about that room."

Raven watched Malik spin the millennium rod in his hands as he sat in the chair by the window. The moonlight that flooded into the room lit the rod in a ghostly light as he spun it, creating all kinds of silver shapes on the floor and the walls. She smiled at him.

"Malik, tell me something."

"Hn?" He looked up at her, still spinning the rod.

"What do you really feel? I mean, without Mariku, how do you really feel now that you can use him like Yugi uses Yami?" She shifted on the bed, crossing her legs to sit Indian-style.

He stopped spinning the rod then let it drop to the heavily carpeted floor. "I'm free." He whispered, his eyes lighting with tears.

"Malik?" She leaned forward and then crawled over to him. "Malik? What's wrong?"

"I'm free..." He whispered and relaxed in her arms. "It's so different...I..."

She smiled. "Don't worry. Mariku can't control you like he once did anymore. You are free."

:: Not as long as I have a word in it... :: A mind thought in the shadows as it watched the couple. :: Love sick fools.... ::

Along the outter wall, the same unnoticable shadow floated towards another room. He remembered his orders very well. "Watch the one with the gold rod and eyes of a dragon.... the girls that hang near the two of them should be kept under a close eye as well.... Do not fail me."

That last thought entered the shadow's mind as he looked in the room that held the man with the eyes of a dragon. :: So, he too has feelings growing inside of him.... ::

Jensea smiled as Seto showed her to her room. "Thanks Seto." She touched his hand. "See you in the morning."

"Mmm." he nodded, lingering a few moments after she had shut her door. The feelings were strange to him but he liked them. He turned and headed to his own room.

"Did you hear that?" Raven sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Malik?" he was still sound asleep beside her. She got out of the bed and wrapped a robe around her, walking out to the balcony where she thought she heard a strange noise seconds earlier. She stepped out and looked around, seeing nothing. She looked up at the star lit sky and smiled, moaning with the light breeze that washed over her.

Malik slipped out behind her, watching her. "Are you all right?"

She jumped in surprise and pressed her hand to her chest. "Oh, Malik..."

"Sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you."

"It's fine." She whispered. "I thought I heard something so I came out to see..." She looked around. "The breeze feels nice..."

He nodded. "Yes, it does." He studied her. "What'd you hear?"

"I'm not really sure...I guess it was just my imagination."

"Well, come back to bed." He took her hand. "I'm sure Seto will have plenty of things for us to do in the morning."
