Chapter Eleven: Pieces of ships, Fragments of information and bits of jealousy

~Kim’s P.o.V.~
~A few hours later…~
I curled up in my seat next to Seto on the private jet as we crossed the Pacific Ocean. We were flying relatively low, though I was unsure why. It was so vast and black-looking from up here.. nothing in sight.
“Look…” Seto muttered, moments later, pointing out the window. He paged the pilot as he leaned over me, muttering, “Dear Ra… what have they done?”
I followed his gaze and gasped, “Meg…” I whispered.
Miles below, we saw a dark, black cloud of smoke, flames licking up to the sky. It took me a moment to process there were two ships… black sails billowing against the blue sky, black sails flaming… another, rotted-looking ship…
Seto paged the pilot repeatedly before finally getting annoyed and standing, walking to the cockpit. I slowly started realizing as he left that we were losing altitude and growing closer and closer to the burning ships.
“Seto…” I whispered. “Shh..” he whispered back, knocking on the cockpit door. There was no answer. He started banging on it as he rattled the door latch.
“Open up now!” he commanded. “Seto…” I called again, uncurling myself and standing myself. He looked at me and met my slowly turning to terrified gaze.
“We’re losing altitude…” I breathed. Then the entire plane shook, I tumbled to the floor. A loud explosion followed, then sudden blackness.
~Meg’s P.o.V.~
We were losing. That much was clear. Even with our reinforcements, nothing could’ve prepared us for the Dutchman’s crew of hellions. I lunged forward, gutting what looked like a squid head.. but I was wrong, obviously, as a stinging pain ran up my arm. Jellyfish-head, apparently. “Jack!” I called, turning and lunging my sword through something’s head. I didn’t even have time to be grossed out. “Jack!”
He grunted, walking backwards, fending off two of the Dutchman crew as he stood back-to-back against me, “Holding up?” he asked. “Just enough..” I muttered, as two more of the enemy crew lunged toward me; Jack and I turned and he thrust his sword through one’s stomach, unsheathing his dagger and stabbing the other directly in the heart. “And your head, love?” he asked.“Pulsing,” I muttered, “We need help.”“Where’s the crew?” he asked.“It seemed like Gibbs and Cotton were in trouble, most of the other’s I haven’t seen..” I muttered back, continuing to fend off the Dutchman’s crew. We were losing, it was inevitable.
“Jack, look up…” I whispered suddenly, as half the mix of pirates and sea-pirates looked up as well. They seemed to stop their fighting as quickly as they’d started what seemed like ages ago.
The object in the sky was sleek, black and purple, small jet. The insignia “KC” was painted on the tail in silver… “Kaiba…” Jack whispered. “It’s losing altitude…” I said slowly. Suddenly, something dawned on me. …this could be the one thing that could kill us all.
The impact came quicker than Jack and I expected. We had attempted to jump from the ship, seeing as the water would be safer than the Dutchman, but through the confused chaos that had began taking place onboard, we were lost. I felt his fingers slip from my grip as the ship seemed to shake, and it split. He was on one half, I was on the other, I realized. But it didn’t take long before the explosion seemed to send me flying. Within moments, I was underwater.
I couldn’t even think, I just started thrashing, trying to get to the surface. With my thrashing, I grabbed onto something.. or rather someone’s hair. “Kim!” I shouted. But my cry was muffled in a jumble of bubbles. She was unconscious. The water began staining red.. some blood from my head, some from her.. I couldn’t tell where she was suffering injuries, but I knew it had to be bad considering she had been in the plane.
I acted quicker than I thought and grabbed a hold of her under her arms and swam to the surface. I gasped for air and looked around. I was in a sea of dead and injured. “Jack!” I screamed. Tears stung my eyes as I struggled to stay afloat. I kicked my legs and rested Kim halfway on a stray piece of the ship.. The explosion must’ve sent me pretty far… at least 300 yards anyway. I looked at the flaming wreckage that had once been an airplane, the Pearl, and the Dutchman. “Jack…” I whispered, clinging to Kim. She was breathing and a long gash was bleeding from her forehead.
“Wake up..” I whispered. Her eyes were closed and her hands were cold. I shivered in the water as tears fell down my face. Through everything so far, this was enough to make me cry…
As the sea of dead and injured was filled with shouts, cries, and moans; I remained still, clinging to the still, unconscious form of Kim, crying with fear.

“You... are a reincarnate of Cat?” I whispered, staring at Maxine. She looked just as horrified. “How..?” she asked, turning to Cat. I glared at the cat demon, “Why, is a better question,” I snarled. Cat looked at me, a bit terrified. “I… I don’t know…” she whispered.
That’s when it dawned on me… Cat hadn’t really meant for this to happen. Sure, she wanted me to suffer, but at her own cost? Giving up part of her soul to provide a reincarnate meant practically making a ‘deal with the devil’, so to speak. She wouldn’t dare. …or would she?
“Maxine… think back, to the farthest memories… close your eyes and think…” I whispered, stepping close to her. “Why?” she whispered. She was trembling. I held her hands and looked in her eyes, “I need to.. find something out…” She closed her eyes, squeezing my hand as I leaned forward, planting a kiss on her lips.
The memory sparked instantly, not only for me, but for her… a kiss, in a forest, alone… breathing heavily, as rain began to fall, claws, tears, rain… her silver hair, her neko ears. I stepped back and for a moment, I didn’t see Maxine’s hazel eyes, I saw Cat’s amber optics.
Maxine met my gaze, looking as if she were about to cry, “It was you…” she whispered.
“You did capture my heart and soul, InuYasha… but to think you’d release it…” Cat murmured.

Random tidbit. The 777 word mark is at the word ‘forehead’ where it reads, “She was breathing and a long gash was bleeding from her forehead.” >.> 777! That’s lucky! So it’ll get better.
