Chapter Four

Forceful Invitation

It took its time, but Kari reached the place she called home. She looked across the street to see the park. She thought that maybe the sound of children playing would cheer her up, so she crossed the road. Several little children were playing a game of soccer as their parents cheered them on. Kari stood on the sidelines watching.

"Keith," She thought as a little brown hared kid kicked the ball. He looked punk like.

"Kari Motachi! I challenge you!"

"Go away Keith! I `m not going to battle a little amateur like you!"

"Jesus Christ! Why was I so mean to him?" Kari thought. Her best friend Annie had had a crush on him, but he had died at the Duelist Kingdom. Some thuds attacked him, braking his neck, to what? Just to steal his star chips. "Why is it everyone I get close to dies!"

She walked around town. Home wasn't an option being that Seto was pretty angry with her. Kari kept to herself as people looked at her. It was late, past eleven. She had eaten since breakfast and because of her little sleep, her feet bragged across the sidewalk. The wind blow coldly at her. It felt like everyone was against her. She walked slowly to the steps of Kiaba Crops. The building looked so cold and dark, not like the home she loved. On the top floor, Kari saw the lights were on. That meant either Seto was home waiting for her, or Mokuba was home alone.

"Home, sweet home," Kari whispered half hearty. Heard someone walk behind her. "Who's there?"

"Mr. Pegasus wishes to see you," A man replied. Kari frowned.

"He can make an appointment or come himself," Kari replied as head for the door. There was a click sound. She turned again to see the man holding a gun at her.

"He wishes to see you now, Ms. Motachi,"

"Since you put it that way," Kari replied. She followed him, unaware of the young boy watching them. Worried, he ran to his brother to tell what he had seen.
