Chapter 9 Faceing Reality: The shock, and the news
She sighed as she stirred the next day. "What a dream…" She murmured, sitting up and running a hand through her hair. It was long again. She blinked and ran to a near by mirror in her room. "I coulda sworn I got this mop top cut yesterday…" she sighed and shrugged it off before brushing it and reaching into her closet, grabbing a set of clothes then heading into the bathroom and taking a shower.
Once she was done and dressed for the morning, she tossed her nightclothes and towel into the hamper in her room and grabbed her books. "I'm going, Mom! Love ya!" She called over her shoulder as she left through the back door of her house and around to the side, petting her kitten before leaving the porch.
She waved to her dad as she got into her car. "See ya after school!" She smiled and pulled off, not wanting to be late. It was her first time driving to school on her own, and she didn't want to be late.
Moments later, she pulled up in a parking lot behind a large brick, castle looking school. "Ah… old Fort Hell, I mean Hill high…" She smiled and walked in the back way, going into the cafeteria and grabbing some breakfast before joining a small group at a table.
"Hey, look who's on time." A girl with blonde hair said as she said down, a joking smile on her face.
"Har, Mandi. Har." She said with a smile before continuing to joke and eat. Soon, though, the morning bell silenced them. "Crap… I've got Grant…" She sighed as she and her friends walked out of the cafeteria. "See ya's."
"Good luck, Jenna!" Mandi called before going on her way.
"Yeah… I'm going to need it…" She sighed as she went into the room, sitting down in the same seat she had been for most of the school year. She hated this class. It wasn't that she was bad at math, it's that her teacher was bad at teaching. No matter how hard she tried, the way he taught it she could never get it right. Thus why she was barely getting B's in his class when she knew she could have gotten A's easily. It was the only class holding her down from getting all perfect marks anymore. She sighed again as the day started.
"Before we have our test, are there any more questions?" The old man asked, waving a hand around that had four stubs for fingers, his thumb holding a paper to his palm as he waved it about. She giggled mentally as she looked at him. It was barely 8 15 and already his comb over was falling out. She shook her head along with the others in the class. "Good. Now, there are some nice little problems here. I know many of you are going to have trouble with them, being that half of you never do your work."
` Yeah right… ' She thought as she took the paper handed to her. ` We don't do our work because we don't know how to do it, nimrod… ' Without another thought, she went to doing her test, knowing that no matter how hard she would try, she was doomed to fail it.
After she was done, she looked at he clock. ` Ten minutes of class left… Well, might as well work on my novel… ' She thought and pulled out a pen and paper, writing away till the bell sounded to end the period. Gathering her things, she exited the room and went towards the stairwell next to it, climbing two flights of packed steps, trying not to get run over by students as she made her way to her next class: American Novel.
She loved this class. Her teacher, Mrs. O'Rouke was a strict yet fun loving woman and did anything she could to help her students. The room was bright and not gloomy and dark unlike the last class she was in. As soon as she walked in the room, a short chubby lady met her. "Hello, Jenna. How are you?"
"Tired…" The girl yawned, heading for her chair.
"Well, don't get too comfy. Debbie called. Someone is down in the office waiting for you." Mrs. O'Rouke said, handing her student a note. Jenna blinked.
"Wonder what crime I've done now…" She joked a she left the room, walking down the stairs she had just come up and passed Mr. Grant's room as well as a few other math classes till she reached the lobby. Taking the first door to her right, she was shocked to see her parents waiting for her in the main office. "Mom? Dad? What's wrong?"
Her mother looked at her with a deep concern. "We recieved a call from your friend Kayla's cell today." She started looking at her husband a moment, then back at her daughtor.
"And?" Jenna asked concern growing by the second, afraid her best friend might be hurt.
"Well, she is in the hospital. Her sisters hurt her badly. Though we still don't know exactly how badly." Her mother went on to say.
At the sound of this, Jenna's face drained of the remaining color as she hit her knees breaking down into a fit of sobs. A new student happened to walk into the office at that time and cought the sobbing girl. He had dark brown hair, and blue eyes. He wore a coat that was extreamly long, and was almost a forest green. This contrasted with the purple jump suit he wore under it. He was much taller then Jenna by several inches but at this point, who was looking. He had over heard the conversation between Jenna and her parents and was very concerned by it. "Are you ok? I am sorry to hear about your friend." He stated in a soothing tone of voice trying to consoul her as best he could.
Jenna got away from him, not that she wasn't thankful for the confert, but her mind was set. "I must go to her." She declared standing ready to storm out of the school without giving any form of worning to anyone.
Jenna wait!" Both her parents yelled at the same time trying to stop their only girl from getting herself hurt due to the fact she wasn't really thinking streight.
"I will go after her, Don't worry I will make sure nothing happens to her." THe new teen offered looking at Jenna's parents a moment before bulting after the retreating girl. "Wait he called as he continued to race after her.
Jenna paused with her back still to him, she asked. "What do you want?" little emotion behind those words except a shocked pained feeling.
"I can help you get to your friend faster." is all the young teen said not daring to move.
