Aqua Blossoms
A/N: Gomen that it's taking so long to update this. *sighs* It's taking entirely too long to update all of my fanfiction. It seems I have a habit of starting fanfiction and never finishing it. I am going to finish this one, Crossing Magic, and Reunited. Saa, please review!
Disclaimer: I do NOT own Yu-Gi-Oh! but I DO own this fanfic!!!

Yugi smiled at his grandfather, Arthur, and Rebecca. The blonde girl thought he finally went off his rocker.
"Are you crazy? A little while ago you were all upset. And now; you act like the most wonderful thing that could ever happen to you has happened!"
The violet-eyed teen laughed. "I met the most gorgeous and friendly being in the universe!"
The blue-eyed girl blinked. "What is she like?"
Yugi glared. "It's not a she!"
This startled Rebecca. She'd never known Yugi to talk that way about a guy, even if he was bi. She sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Fine. What is he like?"
The Mutou smiled dreamily. "He has sun-kissed skin and enthralling crimson eyes. "He wants me to come and see him everyday. I'm going to see him after dinner; his name is Yami."
Solomon and Arthur exchanged knowing glances, but let Rebecca say their secret queries. "But where is he?"
Yugi stared at her for a second, for he couldn't possibly tell her that Yami was a merman. "He lives in another city. He's here visiting family."
Rebecca gave a small nod. "Oh. Well, then why don't we eat? Don't want to keep Yami waiting; now do we?"
The eighteen-year-old blushed furiously at the younger female's words. "Shut up, Rebecca!"
As predicted, Yugi consumed his food quickly, then darted back out the door. Solomon and Arthur laughed at the teenager's eagerness to see his new friend again.
Yugi hurriedly rushed down the stairs on the side of the cliff to the small island beside the lake. Yami was basking out on the rock again; his tanned skin shimmering enticingly. The teen fought back the blood rushing to his cheeks and decided to wait for Yami to notice him. He sat down on the soft ground and watched the merman. Yugi felt butterflies appear in his stomach as he watched the male mermaid arch upwards to stretch his back. Starting to sweat, Yugi wondered why he was getting so hot. That's when the merman glanced over at the eighteen-year-old. He knew the violet-eyed male was there. A small smirk graced his lips and he nodded to Yugi.
"Why don't you come over here, Little One. I want to know more about you."
The teenage Mutou made his way over the small piece of land to the rock in the middle of the gigantic lake. Yami patted at the spot next to him, telling Yugi to sit. He did so, then finding himself locked in the gaze of ethereal crimson eyes. The brilliant orbs shone with happiness at spotting the golden locket around Yugi's neck.
"You wore it!" his voice was thick with delight.
Yugi's cheeks became a delicate pink. "Hai. You're the only friend I have here…"
Yami tilted his head, his eyes now clouded in question. "Why is that?"
"I just moved here. From Tokyo."
The merman nodded and once more brushed the younger's blonde bangs from his eyes. He, without realizing it, allowed his hand to trail down one of the boy's petal soft cheeks to his lips. Yugi was quiet through the encounter but was still very startled. Yami finally snapped back to reality, pulling his hand back.
"Sorry, I just…wanted to see how soft your skin was…"
Yugi laughed at the apology. "It's okay, Yami."
The male mermaid's eyes twinkled with mirth, he would have to tell Yugi…The boy just had to see his world; the world under the crystalline blue water.
"Yugi," he took a deep breath. "That locket…will also enable you to be like me."
Bewildered, he responded. "Nani? What do you mean?"
"By opening that locket and pressing the button you can become like me. Tail and all!"
Yugi was, to say the least, astonished. "Wow…that's so cool, Yami! Can I try it now? Please?"
The merman nodded. "Then I can show you my world."
Yugi opened the locket and pressed the button with less than a second's hesitation. He was surprised when he looked down to see a violet tail., He cried happily and wrapped his arms around the other's neck. Yami chuckled and pulled Yugi into the water. Even though he was eighteen, the Mutou felt no more than half his age. He let Yami pull him under the icy water to his home. Everything in his world was beautiful. It was made of phenomenal pearls, gold, platinum, silver, and marble. He let out a gasp as he realized Yami was pulling him towards what seemed like the richest building in the water.
Then it dawned upon the merman, as they entered the palace, he'd have to tell Yugi. He turned around to the younger.
"Yugi…I'm…"
Yugi blinked, tilting his head slightly. "You're what?"
Yami gulped. "I'm the…"
"PRINCE YAMI!!!!"
It was the priest. His chestnut brown hair clashed with his cobalt eyes and silver-blue tail. He stopped abruptly though as he saw the other.
"Who is he? I haven't seen him in these waters before."
Yami shook his head. "This is Yugi, my koi."
Yugi blushed at the name Yami stuck to him. ::His koi? Does he mean his koibito? Does Yami…love me?::
Seto was utterly surprised. "What will your father say when he hears of this? Besides…you are both male…"
Yami rolled his eyes. "So what?"
That's when the blue-eyed merman just had to spot the locket around the violet-eyed one's neck. He gave his fellow merman an incredulous look.
"A human?!" he laughed.
Yugi felt bad now. Maybe Yami was just fooling around? Was him calling him koi a mistake? Yugi's expression stayed blank, but on the inside he was crying.
"Yami…I have to go now…"
The prince was shocked. He turned around to face his lover-to-be. "W-what? Why are you leaving? You just got here!"
Yugi cast the royalty a sad smile. "I do not belong here, you're friend is correct…"
Yami looked crestfallen and watched as Yugi swiftly turned away and out of the palace doors. The prince snapped back into reality and chased after him, Seto right behind him.
"YUGI! WAIT!"
The teen whirled around in the water, glaring with what seemed like tear-brimmed eyes. He reopened the locket after holding his breath and pressed the button, then threw the locket at the male mermaid. He used his legs to swim upwards towards the surface. Seto gasped.
"Yami! He won't make it up!"
The crimson-eyed male started to panic, swimming up to Yugi, pleading for him to put the locket back on. Yugi just shook his head and continued up to the surface. He was paling rapidly by now, lungs screaming for air. He tried to fight back a gag, but it escaped past his lips; letting out his only breath of air. Yami watched horrified as the teen desperately tried to get to the air above the lake. Seto grabbed Yugi and swiftly brought him to the surface, Yami now tailing the priest. Yugi spit out water and kicked Seto's hands away.
"Don't touch me! Rebecca was right about the legends! She told me there was creatures like you here and all you did was trap humans who were foolish enough to trust you!" his voice dropped to a wavering whisper as he glowered at Yami. "Like me."
Out of anger Seto tried to pull the boy back under the water. He stopped as something hit the water next to him with a strange force. Yugi looked up to see Rebecca, pointing a gun at Seto.
"Don't touch my cousin!"
Seto snarled and let go of the teenager. He glanced at the Water's Gift, but noted that he seemed to be locked in a horror-struck trance, staring at Yugi. His crimson eyes had lost their luster, becoming dull.
"P-prince Yami?"
For the first time, a true tear fell from the black-tailed merman's eyes. "I-I…he…" Yami's voice was almost inaudible. "He hates me…and I…loved him…"
Seto couldn't believe his ears, but realized the prince was choking back tears. "Yami…you don't need that good for nothing human!"
Yami growled when he called Yugi good-for-nothing. "Shut up!"
He dove under the water, his tears blending with the liquid surrounding him. Seto groaned and followed him, to comfort his friend. Yugi shook his head again, thinking the prince of the waters was just faking it. He didn't want to believe it though, his insides praying he was lying to himself.
::That merman couldn't love me. Why would he?::
Yugi tiredly started the long climb up the marble steps. When he reached Rebecca he just broke down crying; no longer able to hold it in.
The blonde gazed at her older cousin in sympathy and worry. She knew Yami was the prince, but couldn't bring herself to tell her grandfather and grandfather Solomon that Yugi was lying. She knew that his reputation was to lue humans into his home and break their hearts. She kneeled next to the teenager and hugged him.
"Yugi…I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner…please forgive me."
The elder nodded. "He tricked me Rebecca…I'll never forgive him for that."
Nodding, the blue-eyed girl pulled her family member into the Kame Game Shop, or so they decided to call the new shop, up to his room. Artur and Rebecca had worked for hours on making Yugi's room perfect. The walls, bed, window sills, bathroom, and just about everything else was black. Grandpa Solomon had told Rebecca that he wouldn't allow Yugi to go back to being a punk; at least not as long as he lived with him. But somehow, the young female had managed to convince him. Maybe it was the puppy-dog eyes? She mentally shrugged and led Yugi to the bathroom, handing a pair of black silk pants and a sleeveless back shirt. He sniffed quietly and stepped in, changing into the outfit. When he came out, the Mutou flopped down on his bed and fell into a distressing, light, slumber. Rebecca silently covered him up in the black blankets and left the room.
::Poor Yugi…::
