Chapter Summary: blast 10 years forward and you see the changes in the gang, and a lot can happen in 10 years...

Anessa's Notes: changed my penname, I have a feeling I am going to actually keep this one. So my little reviewers sorry that I didn't post the replies, in the second chapter but I will do it now, later on as I type...so here is chapter 3 I didn't have writer's block (yay me!) I am happy, my best friend Liz or Elizebeth called this morning (6/29/06) all the way from Denmark, to say `Hi' and she is sending me a postcard. So happy! :: does happy dance:: I was previously in a foul mood since yesterday. I have mostly `C's' in my finals and that is not good, my parents have been yelling all morning long, so I do what I do best: take it all in, and try to make the best of the horrible situation. Now I write to get it partially of my mind, and if this chapter seems angst-ly written, I will make it all better in the fourth chapter, just hope I am in a good mood, now enough chitchat, on with the ficclet, but first Review Replies.

Chapter 2:-

Landi McClellan: I do not really see anything sad about it, maybe except for the `he was almost to tears' part. I loved Kaiba's look the best actually, mainly because Midnight blue is my main favorite color, and the beret was just a little twist. Jou's outfit was fine as hell! I would say “Muy Actractivo” not much of Spanish person, correct me if I am wrong (more of a French person...) anyway thanks for the more than enthusiastic review!

My life has been ups and downs, highs and lows, working as a manager for a modeling agency isn't really a walk in the park...neither is opening your own café...

 

Jou smoked as he walked the streets of Domino, smiling he made it. He was back, and with a sole purpose: open another branch of his famous Café and make Kaiba finally his.

 

He looked at the Kaiba Corp tower `wonder how he's doing maybe later on I can visit him, that'll be a shock...' he thought smirking. He visited Yugi's shop, dropping by...you know, letting them know he is back in Domino baby!

The small bell chimed his welcome and Yugi who was stock piling some new cards didn't bother to look at the person that opened the door “sorry but were closed” he said still packing the new duel monster cards

“All right then, I suppose I'll go...Yugi” Jou smiled

Yugi looked up and his eyes widened “OMG Jou! You never told us that you would be coming back so soon!” he ran over and glomped him, almost crushing him.

“Air...need air...” Yugi smiled sheepishly and let go of Jou

“It's okay Yugi” Jou said dusting of his black Jeans

Yugi had a chance to fully look at him, and almost did not recognize him, but those honey-dipped eyes were still there: Jou was currently casually adorning a pair of black Jeans, white long sleeve, and a no sleeve red hoodie that had red-eyes black dragon at the back.

“Yugi you grew...”

He blushed “hey! That was not funny!”

They laughed goodheartedly

Jou looked around the shop it was slightly bigger.

“What happened yugi? Did you guys renovate this place it looks a tad bigger...”

“No...Gramps bought Duke's old shop before he passed on...”

“I am sorry Yugi, I know we talked about this over the phone but I still can't believe it, he was like a father I never had, and he thought me everything I know about Duel monsters” Yugi smiled

“S'okay...I'll live, you know to tell you the truth I am kind of feel guilty for saying this, but...I am kind of glad he got out of my hair, but at the same time I wish he stayed longer on the face of the earth”

Jou pulled the now 5 ft 7 Yugi close and hugged him.

He let go, and asked a question that he has been itching to ask, “Where are the others?”

As if on cue, Tea came out of the parlor to get some more popcorn

“In the parlor” yugi grinned

“OMG Jou!” tea hugged him and kissed him on the cheek

Jou did an imitation of a Cheerleader jumping for joy, screeching her head off “ OMG! TEA!” They both laughed

Jou decided to go into the living room to scare the living shit out of them

“BOO!” they jumped up, and looked at Jou, but instantly became happy

They hugged and kissed and said their welcomes to Jou

“Don't you ever scare us like that again; you knew we were watching a scary movie!” Duke shouted at him

Jou doubled over and laughed.

“To make it worse, it was `Texas Chain Saw Massacre,'” Trsitan yelled

That made him laugh harder, he had to get a drink of water before he choked.

Jou flopped on the couch “how many times have we watched this movie?...and you guys are still scared?..”

“About 20 times if you count today..but who's checking?...” Yugi said non-chantley

They un-paused the movie to finish it, and Jou had the opportunity to look closely at his friends, they really all have changed, and for the better.

Tristan: finally un-spiked his hair, letting it down and it was at the base of his neck, other than that, he was still goofy, a little more serious than before.

Duke: same old Duke.

Tea: Grew out her hair, and she was now a dancer?...

Jou was not sure, so he went on to finish the movie.

Kaiba huffed and puffed he just fired the 100th worker this week.

“You know you should stop firing all those workers they're doing the best they could and you're just firing them left and right,” Mokuba said sifting through a magazine.

“Well there best is not enough, I need someone competent enough,” Kaiba said crossing his hands over his chin.

“Whatever, I'm out holler if you need me,” Mokuba said dropping the Model magazine on the side glass table

“Bye, and tell Mizuki to get me a pack of cigar and a cup of coffee”

Mokuba looked over his shoulder “I thought you were gonna quit”

“I can still smoke in my office Mokuba, not at home”

“Okay, but quit while your at it, you have a little girl at home to take care of” he said closing the oak doors.

Kaiba sighed. `Maeko won't adjust to the habit, Mokuba if that's your problem...'

His phone beeped, he pressed the blue button

“Yes?...” he drawled

“Maeko is on line 3, sir,” his assistant said

“Fine put her on” he replied

“Hi daddy?”

Kaiba smiled “hey, my little princess how are you doing, didn't I tell you not to call me when I'm at work, your to only all me if it's important?”

He can almost see the frown on her face and mimicked her next words, quietly “you know I don't like that, stop calling me “little princess” and stop doing that! And it is important” she snapped

He laughed. “Okay, but you'll always be my little princess, so why did you call?”

“Fine, I wanted to go shopping with Aunty Rose, can I go?”

“Sure you can, but be back by 7, okay?” he asked sweetly

“Okay daddy, bye...I love you...”

“I love you too” he hung up, and smirked. `She always uses `daddy' when she wants something...mischievous little brat...'

He smiled, and thought how he got about having maeko in his life.

FLASHBACH:-Seto's P.O.V

Iwalked into the orphanage`if I thought the outside was a dump, the inside is worse' he thought sourly. The building was cracking, the windows, were falling and there was grass and bushes growing at the sides, uncut lawn, in conclusion the building looked like it was going to fall if you touched it.

I entered inside and called for the manager, Isat down on one of the dusty chairs in the clammy office.

“Yes, sir”

I put some papers down on the desk for her to skim or read, whatever she preferred but what got to me, was that when I was coming into this office, the children's eyes were on me, as if mentally begging me to adopt them, I'm guessing they've stayed here longer, than I can say `Guh'.

She apparently finished reading the papers

“So Mr. Kaiba you want to tear down this complex and build another one?..” she said happiness shining in her eyes

“Obviously, look around you, these children can't live here any longer or they'll either die of starvation or lack of hygiene”

“I see...but what is your real purpose, because I know you didn't just come here in Kindness” she narrowed her over large brown eyes at me, making it even scarier to be here.

“Look woman, I came here out of the care of my own heart, to rescue these children”

She snorted, obviously disbelieving me

“What heart, Kaiba? You're a ruthless business man you don't care for these orphans...you have a business to run, you don't need this, you don't have to do this”

I narrowed my eyes at her “don't you ever speak to me like that ever again! You have no right! Now listen to me and listen well! I came here to get these kids out of here, and your against it?! What's wrong with you?”

“Look, Government officials gave up on us a long time ago, and I expect you wanted to do the same, now leave!”

“Fine!” I stood up to leave

“I expected that from you,” she said bitterly

Of course, I did not give up, I came there everyday trying to persuade the woman, but she absolutely refused.

Then one day, while we were in the middle of starting another argument she finally complied

“You win” that was the last words she ever said to me, the next I came to the re-construction I heard that she fell ill.

I guess she wanted the kids to be safe, before she dies.

As the day went by, there was alittle girl, I grew fond of, and she was sort of like me, when I was her age: shy but defensive, and definitely smart as Einstein.Usually I wouldn't open up to people, as you can see I'm not very social with other human beings but I felt this bond between I and her, it's like I've known her all my life, but I just met her, call it destiny or whatever but I would like to know more about her.

From her behavior ad what I picked up while the construction was being held, she was being picked on a lot by the older kids. Everyday I come to see her; she has either a busted lip or a black eye.

She would explain a bull load of crap and give to me, I would take it and not say anything, and thoseexcuses reminded me of Jounouchi. He always came up with meaningless excuses when he was asked a question about his bruises, but I was the only one that knew he was lying. His so-called friends probably do noteven know that he was lying probably untiltoday.

As I was saying, when the construction was finished in the next 6 months, the place was neater and nice. It seemed that the former manger died, and I got some else to replace her.

I got so close to the small little white-haired pale-blue eyed albino that I adopted her.

She was reluctant at first, but she soon concludedthat if she stayed here any longer, she might one-dayend in the hospital, and any human being would notwant that.
