Thanks to thekirbykid for the super-hard math problem I can't understand cuz I'm not there yet!

And, for a disclaimer, I'm using Bakurasgirl's names for the public relations people but not necessarily their roles only because I couldn't think of any and they sounded so cool…

ITALICS STILL AREN'T WORKING! T.T - Are they now?

Chapter ten: Math comes in handy

"Um…nii-san?" Mokuba asked from across the table.

"Yes Mokuba?" Kaiba replied, too caught up in his work to look up.

"Why are you cutting a turkey with scissors?"

"Because this is the first meal that Jonouchi had when he came to this house."

"How would you know that?"

Kaiba turned beet red, "I asked the chef! He always remembers what he cooked and when he cooked it."

"Sure Seto," Mokuba chuckled. "How is that gonna help him?"

"I'm just trying everything to get his memory back," Kaiba sighed, "I might as well start with this."

"So…it's turkey for dinner then?"

"Yes Mokuba…it's turkey for dinner."

Jonouchi lay still on his bed, listening to the sound of the birds chirping outside of his window. He looked over to the desk next to him where his homework stood.

"Do I have to?" he groaned, sitting up reluctantly and pulling his homework into his lap. "A plus B equals the square root of…Damn it! I don't know math to save my life!"

"Well then you better start learning quickly," A voice said from behind him.

"W-who's there?" Jonouchi said, his voice pitch raising a couple of notches.

"Your worst nightmare," the voice chuckled. The blonde felt something slide up his back, and stop at the back of his neck. "You wouldn't want to die…would you?"

"N-no," the blonde stuttered, images of what he could remember flashing through his mind.

Oh god…I'm gonna die! I don't have my memory yet and I'm gonna die!

"Now…what's the answer to this question. Find the derivative of 4x^3 * 5x^2,"

"Holy….crap," Jonouchi said, not absorbing the problem at all. "Come again?" The man sighed and repeated the question. "I'm not followin' ya…"

"Here!!" the man said angrily, thrusting a piece of paper over the blonde's shoulder. It had the equation written neatly on it.

"Thanks!" The blonde said happily. Then, "can you get me a pencil?" he heard another sigh and a pencil was thrust over his shoulder as well. "Thanks."

Jonouchi looked over the problem. He never paid attention in math class and this was the most confusing problem he'd ever seen.

An' I have no memory…I don't remember math at all… All I know is I took classes on it but I haven't been to any of those either. I bet this person knows that I don't know the answer…man my life is starting to really suck right about now.

He sighed and put the pencil down in frustration. "I don't know."

"Too bad! The answer was d/dx [ f(x) * g(x) ] = f' * g + g' * f 12x^2 * 5x^2 + 10x * 4x^3 = 60x^4 + 40x^4 = 100x^4. Now, you die." Jonouchi felt the thing at the back of his neck poke him threateningly. Just then they heard singing down the hall coming closer.

Aria!

Jonouchi thought to himself, trying to communicate with her desperately, even though he knew telepathy was impossible. The singing stopped and they heard her footprints tread lightly across the floor.

"Good, another victim," the voice said, with a tone of glee in his voice.

"Aria! Get away!" Jonouchi cried out, unable to contain himself. The object pressed against his skin harder and he felt something trickle down his neck, what he believed was blood.

"Mommy??" the little girl opened the door a crack and peeked inside, and she gasped at the site she saw.

"Aria…honey…run away," the blonde said, smiling sadly knowing it might be the last time he saw her. "Get away…tell Seto everything you saw."

"Stop talking!" The voice said and Jonouchi felt something hit him on the head roughly and he blacked out. Aria screamed and ran out of the room. "Annoying girl…" the man mumbled, shaking his head in disgust. He had on all black, with a mask over his face that only showed his eyes and mouth and a bag strung over his shoulder. He stuffed the blonde into the bag and leaped out the window.

~

"Kaiba!!! MR. KAIBA!!!!!!!" Aria screamed herself hoarse all the way down the stairs and into his office.

"What, Aria?" He turned around and asked, hiding something from her view.

"Mommy!" was all she could manage to get out before stopping to catch her breath.

"Calm down sweetie," Kaiba patted her on the back, "now what's wrong?"

"Scary man! Hurt mommy!" Aria cried, tears forming behind her eyelashes, threatening to spill over and ruin the CEO's $500 carpet.

"What?!" The brunette exclaimed, jumping up from his chair and running up to Jonouchi's room, leaving a sniffling Aria behind. He rushed into the room and came to a halt. The window was open and Jonouchi wasn't there. His mind was flooded with panic and his heart raced uncontrollably. He lost all control over his body and fell to the floor shaking.

"Nii-chan?" Mokuba walked into the room and saw a side of his brother he hadn't seen in years. He put a comforting arm around Kaiba and patted his shoulder. "What's wrong?"

"Jonouchi…he's gone…Aria said…he's gone…" Kaiba mumbled, shaking his head. Mokuba gasped and looked around the room.

"He's gone??" he repeated his brother's words, hugging his brother tightly.

"Yeah…gotta search…can't sleep until I find him…" the CEO was muttering these things more to himself then to his brother, hardly noticing he was even there.

"You should do that Seto," Mokuba urged him, "good luck."

"Thanks, Mokie," Kaiba said and practically ran out of the room to contact his employees in the `Public Relations Department.'

This must mean so much to him…he hasn't called me that in so long…

Mokuba smiled sadly, wondering if they would ever find Jonouchi.

~

"Do you know why I called you all here immediately?" Kaiba addressed a group of people, his composure back although his eyes were still red.

"To look for Jonouchi, sir," Donny said, the most experienced out of the group.

"Yes, and if none of you find him, you all lose your jobs immediately, no exceptions," the CEO deadpanned. All of the people in the room nodded. "Okay then. Maxine, you and Donny take the south section of the city. Karl and Jay will take the east, Kendall and Lloyd will take the west and I'll have some others cover the north. Got all that?"

"Yes, sir!" resounded throughout the room.

"Good, get to work immediately," Kaiba nodded, walking out of the room.

You can't hide from me, whoever you are. I will take Jonouchi back.

"Mr. Kaiba, sir?" a small voice called out from down the hallway. Kaiba recognized it as Aria immediately, besides the fact that she was the only girl in the house.

"Yes, Aria?" the CEO asked, approaching her slowly. She sniffed and outstretched her arms towards him. He understood her silent plead in a nanosecond, he got the same look from Mokuba when Gozaburo was their stepfather. He opened his arms and pulled her against him, comforting her as best he could. She cried into his chest and mumbled incoherent things but the CEO didn't mind. He didn't like seeing others like this as much as he'd hate to admit it.

"Thank you Mr. Kaiba," Aria sobbed, clenching his jacket in her tiny fists.

"If you need another hug, you can always come to me or Mokuba anytime," Kaiba smiled, patting Aria on the back. "We're always here for you."

"Thank you so much," the little girl smiled, tears still faintly running down her face.

"Hey, Seto," Mokuba called, "It's raining and freezing outside! The temperature was almost breaking 70 an hour ago."

"That's strange," Kaiba commented, looking down at Aria who smiled innocently.

"I'm gonna look for mommy," Aria declared softly, standing up and heading for the door.

"…Huh? Aria wait!" Kaiba called after her and she stopped in mid-step. "You can't go out by yourself! I'll come with you."

"Really?" Aria turned around, her eyes sparkling.

"Really," the CEO said, taking her hand. "Mokuba do you want to come as well?"

"Sure, I want Jonouchi back badly as well," Mokuba nodded, following them out the door.

Yugi was sitting on his bed flipping through a magazine he had found lying around. The picnic was wonderful, but he had a nagging feeling something wasn't okay. Yami was in the other room channel surfing with the remote. He was enjoying it immensely as well. Just then, the phone rang.

"I'll get it!" both yami and hikari said at the same time, racing each other to the phone. Yugi reached the phone first but the former pharaoh pushed him out of the way playfully and picked up.

"Moshi moshi, Game Shop."

"Hey pharaoh! Long time no see!"

"I-Ishtar?!"

"The one and ONLY!"

It was Marik, the yami form of Malik. They had separated after a while, Marik and Malik wanted to study more ancient ruins with Isis. Yami never thought he would have heard from them again.

"What are you calling me for?"

"Well pharaoh, I was visiting the city for kicks with Malik and I was sitting outside enjoying a soda, and then it suddenly rains! I didn't plan for it to rain, pharaoh. Another power is at work and I don't like it!"

Yami blinked. He went over to the window and peeked outside. Yep it was raining.

"How strange," was all he could say over the phone.

"Yeah you're telling me," Marik replied, "I'm coming over by the way. Have any extra rooms?"

"Um…I don't know Ishtar," Yami said, "I'd have to ask Yugi--"

"Why, thank you!" Marik replied as if Yami had just said yes, "We're outside your house actually. Can you let us in?"

"Sure," Yami mumbled, sweat dropping.

"Thanks a bunch!" Marik said and hung up. Yugi have his other half a strange look and Yami sighed.

"The Ishtar's are staying here for a while…I guess," he said and walked down the stairs and opened the door. Two muddy Ishtar's soaked to the bone stood on his doorstep.

"Hiya pharaoh!" Marik waved, stepping inside and shaking himself off. Malik just walked in quietly and smiled, apologizing for Marik.

"The place hasn't changed at all Yami," Malik commented nicely, looking around the Game Shop entrance.

"Thanks…I think," Yami said in a confused tone.

"Marik! Malik!" Yugi called, running down the stairs in a flurry. "I missed you guys so much!"

"Hey, pharaoh's hikari! Nice to see ya, thanks for letting us stay," Marik grinned.

"Yes, thank you so much," Malik nodded.

"Now…what were you saying about the weather?" Yami questioned Marik.

"I'm telling you, I didn't make it rain," Marik explained, "I was in a good mood this week! Malik bought me ice cream!" He jumped up and down excitedly.

"Please don't do that, you're getting mud all over the place," Yugi said, "please go upstairs and wash off."

"Thanks!" Marik shook Yugi's hand and bounded up the stairs.

"It was really nice of you to let us stay," Malik smiled at the both of them, "I've missed both of you so much! We're thinking about staying for a while."

"You are welcome to stay here as long as you like!" Yugi smiled, nodding to Yami who rolled his eyes. Marik Ishtar staying at the Game Shop? Yami knew what kind of lunatic that Ishtar was.

Just remembering when Marik covered the whole place in chocolate syrup before he left makes me never want to have him back That took weeks to clean up!.

Suddenly, the phone rang. Yugi answered it this time.

"Moshi moshi, Yugi speaking."

"Yugi," Kaiba's voice sounded through the phone.

"What's wrong??" Yugi asked with genuine concern.

"Jonouchi has been kidnapped."
