--Chat Four--

OOOOOO

The silver haired-vampire slipped on a pair of leather black gloves over his hands, making sure they were secure. Hikaru flexed his muscles slightly, not certain if they would encounter anyone on the way to Anzu's home while he took her there. His indigo black eyes trailed over to his window, seeing the gray sky that scattered white snow over the city of Domino at this time of year.

Immediately, he saw Atemu's cold and cruel face, smiling down at him mockingly, as if daring him to try and go against him. Hikaru shook his head. He didn't have time to be overthrown by thoughts of the other vampire's actions to overcome the vampire world and the human world.

Then Hikaru felt the flow of memories creep into his mind; a memory that was as vivid and fresh, like it just happened yesterday.

OOOOOO

Hikaru walked slowly on the beach, reaching up to his friend in a matter of seconds.

"You called?" he asked curiously to Atemu, who turned expectedly at him. His crimson eyes darkened by the shadows that loomed over his face.

"Hikaru..." the tri-haired vampire began.“...You know as well as I doabout the rumor going around, don't you? War is approaching, they say.”

Hikaru was silent for a few moments, turning his head to watch the sea thrash against the shore; the water almost reachingto his and Atemu's feet. He closed his eyes and sighed.

"Yes...unfortunately. Someone haskilled the High Vampire, and now, vampires have been raging against each other for the throne. What of it?" he asked, turning to face Atemu again.

A wild, cold and cruel smile stretched across Atemu's lips. But thanks to the shadows, Hikaru didn't see it before Atemu looked up to the horizon, seeing the distorted reflection of the full white moon in the ocean.

"I want the throne formyself..." he murmured slowly. There was a hint of yearning in his deep voice that made Hikaru raise a thin eyebrow.

Hikaru looked strangely at his friend, thinking that he had not heard correctly. A shudder ran down his spine at the thoughtof Atemu ruling the vampire world.Surely he would make a great ruler. He was born to be a leader. However....

He stared at Atemu's expression and could tell there wassomething formulating in his min;something dark and dangerous that Hikaru knew wouldn't be good for their world... even for the human world.

'Could it be because...?'

Atemu spoke, breaking the silver-haired vampire's thoughts. "And...I want you to help me in my conquest for power, Hikaru." he said seriously, turning fully to face the taller vampire.

Silence reigned over the area except for the constant thrashing of the waves against the shore,as the two vampires stared at each other long and hard. Hikaru's eyes were wide with surprise, while Atemu's werepatiently bored andwaiting for an answer.

A few moments after getting over his shock, Hikaru turned around and began walking away. Atemu frowned slightly. "Hikaru? What's your answer? I assure you, if you help me, I'll haveforyou a high seat of power when I---"

"I'll think about it, Atemu," Hikaru cut in sharply, turning his head. "I'll think about it. Right now...I have to take care of something first. Besides, I'd like to hear more of this...plan of yours to take the throne. Until then, Atemu..."

"Hikaru..." he heard Atemu say;noting the subtle hint of a threat if he didn't choose the right response.

With that, he began walking away, leaving his friend behind standing alone on the shore...

OOOOOO

'In truth... I never wanted power in the first place...Maybe that's why I declined. I'm powerful enough as it is...' Hikaru thought, ending his train of memories as he pulled out another article of clothing from his closet.

'Besides...What would I do with power I didn't want?'

OOOOOO

Anzu sat on a leather black couch in the living room of Hikaru's big apartment, waiting patiently for the silver-haired vampire to emerge from his room. She looked up at the clock to find that it was a quarter to six. The brunette was rather surprised to find that so much time had passed while she was in his home.

'Like others have said,I guess, time passes quickly when you're doing something...' she mused absently to herself.

The door to Hikaru's room clicked open and Anzu looked up to find Hikaru dressed in rather... well, warm yet strange looking clothing for himself. He now wore a black beanie hat over his head, thick black sunglasses covering his sharp indigo black eyes from view, a black and blue striped scarf, the rest of his body was covered by his trademark long, white trench coat, tight leather black pants, and his feet were adorned with hard boots.

In short, Hikaru looked normal, in a way. Considering that it was winter time, it would look perfectly normal; but it also made him appear to be really sick. As if he were carrying some kind of disease that would spread if he sneezed into the air. Anzu then wondered if he wore that every time he wanted to go out into the daylight. Picturing it made the brunette giggle.

Hikaru perched an eyebrow up at her. "You think my choice of clothing is strange, do you? Well, you would be wearing this too if you were me..." he said, voice slightly muffled by his scarf.

Anzu giggled again. "Well...I'd have more fashion sense than you to wear that, Hikaru," she replied meekly.

"...Oh, how your words sting me." he said dryly.

"Then I'm doing a good job," she said.

"Shut up, you little imp."

"Your sweet nothings are so tender to the ear."

In the next few seconds, Anzu let out a laugh while Hikaru merely chuckled softly to himself before walking over to the door of his apartment, waiting for Anzu to catch up to him.

"Let's go then," he announced, opening his door and allowing a crisp, cold wind to blow inside. Anzu shivered slightly, and a small smile crept up to Hikaru's lips, thankful that the scarf shielded his expression. But the brunette must've caught it because looked up at him, pouting slightly and rubbing her arms.

"Now then, if you had chosen a decent choice of clothing," he said, eyeing her skirt. "You wouldn't be so cold now would you?"

"Just shut up and let's get moving." Anzu snapped, walking past him.

"As you wish..."

OOOOOO

After a half an hour ride on Hikaru's motorcycle, Anzu and Hikaru walked inside Anzu's empty house; dusting off snow that had fallen on them during the ride over.

"Parents not home again?" Hikaru asked, taking off the beanie hat and scarf and hanging them up. He placed his sunglasses in his pockets. They then both removed their shoes and walked in, Anzu turning on the light as they passed a switch.

"Yeah. Another business trip called them over to the other side of the world again." Anzu replied dryly, running a hand through her chocolate colored locks.

"You don't like being alone in this house of yours, do you?"

She sighed. "I'm getting used to it. Anyways, make yourself comfortable and I'll-"

"I'll go and fix your computer," Hikaru announced suddenly, taking off his trench coat, revealing he had a tight black turtle neck sweater on, and throwing it on to the living room couch as they passed it.

"You-You will?" Anzu asked.

Hikaru nodded. "I know how to fix things, Anzu. After all, I've lived a very, and I mean VERY,long life, as you know. I know a thing or two about computers. So just let me handle it, and I'll fix it in no time."

Anzu just stood rooted on the spot as she watched Hikaru walk up the stairs to her bedroom. "Uh...Okay...Do you want something to drink, Hikaru?"

Hikaru stopped and stared at her for a few moments. "What? Didn't I tell you, Anzu? Vampires don't drink anything, save for blood."

Anzu promptly smacked her forehead. "Oh yeah. Sorry, Hikaru...So umm...How should I..."

The white-haired vampire sighed. "I'll prepare my own food, Anzu. You just do whatever you want in the time being." With that, he disappeared into her room.

It was a few minutes after he left that Anzu sighed and combed a hand through her hair again.

"Vampires," she muttered dryly.

OOOOOO

Almost two hours later, Hikaru descended the stairs, finally finished with fixing Anzu's computer.

Anzu paused from watching Fruits Basket and looked up from the TV. She grinned. “All done?”

"Yes. Now you don't have to come over to my house every so often to use my computer." he said with a playful smirk on his face.

Anzu flashed her tongue at him before jumping off the couch and running into her room. There she found that her computer was already turned on and connected to the internet.

Downstairs, Hikaru stared at the screen; watching one of the characters Anzu had told him of, Kyo, trip over a line of rope that a spiky white-haired teenager, Hatsuharu, had pulled.

'I'll never understand anime...' He thought sardonically to himself, turning to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, up in her room, Anzu was reading the e-mails that were sent to her. She then noticed an e-mail from a familiar address. She clicked on it, and her eyes widened.

Anzu's look of surprise immediately changed to that of glare as she stared at the repulsive and offending e-mail Jounouchi had sent her about some dirty website. Growling and muttering death wishes, she deleted it, making a mental note to strangle the blonde whenever she next saw him.

'Damn shameless pervert...I'm beginning to worry that he might corrupt Yugi...' she thought sadly.

Anzu then quickly looked over the rest of her e-mails and saw one addressed from PhantomY69. Quickly, she clicked on it, and read the e-mail he sent her.

Smiling like the Cheshire cat, Anzu clicked on the Reply button and wrote her answer down, saying that she would love to meet him, and wondered when they could meet.

`Hopefullysometimessoon,' she thought once she sent it back.

Then Hikaru walked into the room, carrying a mug of...well, she didn't want to know what he found while scavenging through her cabinets. "Anzu, you go and make something yourself now. I'm fine right here," he motioned the hand that held his drink. "Go on, get."

Anzu muttered something about how Hikaru wasn't her parent before she shoved herself away from her computer desk and walked down the stairs. Hikaru stared at her computer. Looking at the door, he went to Anzu's computer, and clicked on the button to show her e-mails.

Noticing she only had one new e-mail, one that she had already replied to, seeing as there was a small arrow next to it; the silver-haired vampire clicked on it and read its content.

`What she didn't know won't hurt her,' Hikaru thought. But then again, if the brunette found him snooping through her e-mails, she would no doubt try to impale him with some sharp object.

Slowly, he read the e-mail again. And again. And again. The words, "I know we just met and all..." kept on repeating over and over again in Hikaru's mind. Then it clicked, once he saw the name at the end. Yami was an alias Atemu used many times to lure his victims over to him!

Hikaru growled and was about to do something with the e-mail before his keen sense of hearing picked up the sound of footsteps coming over. Immediately he clicked it off and walked down the stairs, passing her by.

"Hikaru?" Anzu called.

"I would like to watch some of those Fruits Basket episodes with you, if that's all right. I still want to try and understand what you see in it." he said, turning to her.

Anzu nodded happily and walked back down again. Hikaru followed her, his indigo black eyes remembering the e-mail that was from Atemu to Anzu.

The damn bastard just wouldn't quit...

OOOOOO

It was past midnight when Hikaru brought Anzu back up to her room and tucked her under the covers. Now Hikaru made a mental note to watch more of these highly entertaining shows more often.

As he slipped out of her room, he made sure that all locks on her house were in place before he took his trusted sword he put into the umbrella rack (Anzu had questioned him of why he had brought it with him), slipped on his trench coat, and walked out.

The rain poured on him, but he ignored it. He was now strolling through the city streets, thanks to his inhuman speed, and looking around; faintly sensing that familiar dark aura.

He looked up at a tall building that stood between an arcade and a restaurant. Hikaru narrowed his eyes and walked inside. The sliding doors automatically parted to allow him entrance, despite it being so late at night. He climbed the stairs to the roof, and kicked the door open.

He saw a silhouette, with a five foot sword near his waist, standing near the edge of the roof. Hikaru walked to the middle of the roof, his feet sloshing through the puddles of gathered rain to make sure he made his presence known.

"I knew you would come," Atemu smirked, turning to face him.

Hikaru narrowed his eyes even more at the sight of him; revulsion and anger swimming inside him in rough currents. "Atemu, I know you. You called me intentionally after I had read that e-mail you sent. You knew I would find it. So, I'm here. It's been a long time since I last set eyes on your foul face, Atemu."

The insult didn't faze Atemu. Instead, he smirked and turned his head away to look down on the streets below. "Yes, a very long time. But now, Hikaru, I shall make a deal with you." He exclaimed, cutting right to the chase.

Hikaru arched an eyebrow at him. "A deal? What?"

Atemu chuckled darkly. "We shall have a fight here to determine the fate of that woman you so dearly want to protect." he chuckled at the menacing growl Hikaru sent his way. "So if you win, I give you my life, and the woman will be safe."

"And if you win?" Hikaru asked, trying hard to keep his voice steady. He had a guess that he wouldn't like what Atemu would say next.

And he was right.

The smirk on Atemu's face widened, baring his inch-long teeth. "If I win then the girl is mine. No objections and no interference from you. She will be my queen, and there will be nothing anyone can say or do about it. Do we have a deal?"

Hikaru felt his heart nearly burst out of his mouth when he heard the tri-haired vampire state his proposition. Gambling on Anzu's fate? His answer should be clear enough. Why would he ever do it? It was Anzu they were talking about, dammit. How could...?

The silver-haired vampire took a step forward and unsheathed his blade, the blade glinting in the moonlight as he threw the scabbard aside.

"Fine..." he muttered, already regretting the words.

Atemu's smile reached his ears. "Good." With that aside, they both charged.

OOOOOO
