14) Craving

Summary: Yami and Seto get caught up in their emotions; after a brief chat with Yugi, Seto and Yami tell each other something; Yami seeks advice from an unusual source.

Once back in the limousine, Yami and Seto naturally gravitated together, their lips immediately finding each other's as they sought to release some of the emotional tension engendered by the revelations from the ancient stone tablets. For a long moment they kissed avidly, Yami already slid firmly into Seto's lap. Then, abruptly Yami pulled out of the kiss, gasping one word: "Yugi!" In the next second, he separated from Seto completely, hugging his knees to himself on the seat beside his lover.

"What?" Seto breathed, stunned, then realization hit him as it had Yami.

Yugi was still aware of them. They'd completely forgotten.

//Aibou...?// Yami was inquiring internally, his heart hammering in his chest. //I...I'm sorry...//

Yugi was sitting in a similar position as his other self, but of course in his own soul room, his emotions caught up in Yami's powerful feelings toward Seto Kaiba. /Yami.../ the teenager replied softly, even reverently. /Um... wow. You really do... you really do love him. That was.../

//I did not intend for you to feel that,// Yami interrupted anxiously. //Please forgive me...//

Yugi felt a curious sense of detachment at the same time he remembered the strength in the outpouring of emotion as Yami kissed his lover so ardently. /No, it's all right,/ Yugi replied. /I...I'm glad. You and he.../

Yami was abruptly aware that Seto was trying to get his attention by touching his face. "Yami... is everything all right?" Seto murmured anxiously.

/Oh, and he loves you, too... even I can see that!/

Yami gulped. //Aibou...//

/It's all right.../

"Seto," Yami whispered, looking up finally. "It's all right. Yugi... says he's glad. I think he means he's glad that he feels my emotions. I don't show them easily."

The touch turned into a caress. "Yami-chan," Seto whispered back. "Is everything okay with him?"

Yami nodded, then sighed when he felt an answering affirmation echo within his mind from his light half.

"May I speak to him?" Seto asked, cerulean eyes intent on violet eyes.

Yugi actually squeaked within Yami's mind. /He wants to talk to ME? After, um, that??/

"He's a little embarrassed," Yami murmured, smiling.

Seto smiled back. "I'll be nice. Promise."

//Aibou?//

/O...okay.../

Yami pulled the Puzzle to his front and held it reverently in his hands. Immediately the Sennen Eye appeared on his forehead and it and the Puzzle began to glow. When the glowing stopped, a smaller version of the Gamesmaster sat on the seat looking a little fearful.

Seto leaned back, folding his hands on his thigh, his legs crossed. "Hello, Yugi... sorry to have caused you any distress." As yet, the young billionaire's expression was neutral.

"Kaiba-kun..." Yugi greeted him, clearing his throat nervously. "I should have withdrawn when I saw that you two were going to be alone in here. I apologize!"

"It's okay, Yugi," Seto murmured. "Don't worry about that. I wanted to tell you that I know that you are the most important person in Yami's life. I did not get a chance at school this morning to tell you that. I know the bond between the two of you must be something very powerful, and I will always respect that." [Even as I ache for Yami with every fiber in my being,] he added to himself silently.

Yugi's eyes got wider. "Oh... thank you," he managed to say, then glanced away, blushing. "T...that's good to know..." [I sound stupid,] Yugi thought, abashed, unnerved by the other's closeness in this fairly private space. [He's just being nice to me...]

Seto opened his mouth to say more, but then closed it again, seeing the boy's discomfiture. [It's too soon... for anything else, I guess,] he mused. [He's so sweet...]

//I think he likes being around you,// Yami spoke up.

/W...what?/

//He will need us both, I believe,// Yami added cryptically. //May I return for a minute?//

/Oh... sure, hang on.../ Yugi blew his breath out, relieved. "Kaiba-kun," he said aloud, making himself look up again, "Yami-san wants to come back again. I think I'll retreat now, okay?"

The soft tenderness in Seto Kaiba's eyes was suddenly more than Yugi could bear. "Yes, thank you," Seto murmured quietly.

Yugi hastily effected the transformation, then mentally retreated as promised to his own soul room, relieved to be away from the intensity of that relationship.

Yami opened his eyes to look up into Seto's. "He's gone now," he affirmed a bit sadly, but then quickly added, "Seto, thank you so much for saying that to him. I know that with this business of the new cards and the tablet revealing our pasts, he feels a bit left out. Though I do not believe for a moment that he will not be an intrinsic part of what lies ahead."

"Of course," Seto murmured, unabashedly pulling Yami back into his lap. [Though I still wish they were two... Kami-sama, how I wish they were two...]

"Seto..." Yami breathed, smiling as he snuggled closer. "You called me 'Yami-chan'. That's so sweet."

"I'll show you sweet," Seto whispered huskily as he claimed his lover's mouth again, immediately parting the thin lips to delve deeper. Tongues dueled to a point where they risked arousal to the point of no return, then it was Seto this time who ended the kiss, straightening reluctantly. "Damn, you kiss good," he breathed, sighing heavily.

Yami took a deep breath, unable to speak for a moment. Instead he pressed his face into Seto's neck as he struggled to regain some composure. Finally he murmured, "We'd better get going, koibito."

"Aa," Seto agreed and leaned forward to knock on the opaque window separating them from the driver. In a moment they felt the car begin to move. "You know, I wonder why some of the cards we received are blank but others are not," he murmured thoughtfully, running his fingers idly through Yami's unusual hair.

"I don't know," Yami replied quietly, his own fingers sifting through the back of his lover's hair as well. "Perhaps we are meant to use them sooner than the others."

"Use them?" Seto shifted Yami in his lap until they could look at one another again. "They're not for dueling, you mean?"

"We each received a Ritual Magic card," Yami reminded him, laying a hand palm down on his lover's chest. "I sense great magical energy in the cards as well, unlike normal Duel Monster cards. I have a feeling they're to be used to perform some sort of ritual. What that could be, I have no idea."

Again the Millennium Puzzle on its chain lay against Yami's back so that he could be as close as possible to his lover. To his surprise, Seto reached back and pulled it to his front where he merely held it between them, looking at it intently. [That... that's the first time he's actually held it,] Yami wondered, then gasped softly as the Puzzle glowed briefly, then went dormant again.

Seto nearly dropped it. "Why did it do that?" he asked, bewildered.

"I sense that it accepts you somehow," Yami murmured thoughtfully. "Another affirmation that there already is a link between us."

Seto thought about the cards he'd received. [Bond of the Protectors... could that be us? Could the card be used to create a real bond between us? Not of course that Yami would shift hosts, but... a different bond...]

He gazed again into the violet eyes watching him intently as he returned the Puzzle to the other's back. "Yami-chan... I..." But the violet gaze was too piercing, and he pulled his lover back into his arms. He pressed a kiss close to Yami's ear, then whispered, "I'm falling in love with you."

Yami, his own arms again around Seto's neck, tightened his hold on him. "And I'm falling in love with you, Seto. And... I crave you..."

Seto gulped, feeling himself harden at the words. "D...don't say that. You've got to get Yugi home. But Kami-sama help us both, for I crave you as well. I... ache for you... I want you so much..."

"Seto..." Yami breathed fervently, then slipped his hand down between them to grasp his lover's straining bulge.

"K...kami-sama, Yami!" Seto gasped. "Come home with me..."

Yami fought a brief battle within himself, trying to win back control of his libido. He wanted desperately to make love with Seto, but he knew Yugi was expecting to go home and have dinner with his grandfather, then do his homework. "We... can't..." he managed to say finally, withdrawing his hand with an effort. "Now now. But soon, koibito, soon. I promise."

To his shock, Seto grabbed the Puzzle again, holding it between them. [Anything to deflect this sexual tension between us...] "Your Puzzle," he murmured, his voice a little rough with emotion. "Am I right that you do not yet know the full extent of its powers?"

Yami took a deep breath. [He seeks to divert his attention... and mine. Gladly...] He stared at the Puzzle, which began to glow again, though just barely. He felt the Sennen Eye activate on his forehead, though nothing else seemed to happen. "You are right. It's very powerful... we don't know all of its powers."

He laid his hand on the Puzzle so that they both held it. Yami could feel his link with Yugi, but now he thought he sensed something else. //Seto...// he sent silently, wondering if he could nudge that something to life. Then he looked up into his lover's eyes.

Seto was frowning... probably sensing something but clearly frustrated. "Yami, I feel something, but I don't know what. It's so elusive..." He bit his lip to keep himself from saying more. [I want you separate...]

At that moment, a thousand miles away, another Millennium Item began to glow. Its current possessor picked it up, bewildered. "What the hell?" a platinum-haired teenager muttered.

He had no clue that the Item's proper owner was in physical contact with another Millennium Item. Or what that could mean. Not yet.

After finishing his homework, Yugi turned his attention to his other self, who'd been very quiet since returning home. Their link had even faded somewhat, telling Yugi that Yami wanted some solitude.

But Yugi didn't like the subtle sense of despair he was also feeling from his dark half. /Yami... can we talk, please? Yami?/

Yami had fled once again to his innermost chamber in the labyrinth of his soul room, where for the past hour he'd done nothing more than pace. His chief guardian, the Dark Magician, sat watching nearby, but Yami wasn't letting even him closer. After a while, a few concerned others had joined the vigil - Gaia, the Mystical Elf, and a barely contained Kuriboh, who bobbed in the air behind the tall Knight, hiding his sympathetic agitation.

When the hikari's voice was heard, Yami stopped abruptly, giving the others a single glance before looking away. //Aibou.//

/What's wrong? You feel... strange./

//Nothing's wrong, Yugi,// Yami lied easily, staring moodily off in to space. //Go back to your homework.//

/I'm done with my homework. Did something happen with Kaiba-kun after I left?/

[Absolutely nothing, and that's the problem,] Yami thought, not replying. He folded his arms over his chest, his head bowed.

/I can't help you if you don't tell me,/ Yugi murmured softly. /Can I come there?/

//No!// Yami said a little forcefully. //I mean, I'd rather be alone right now, aibou. I have a lot to think about.//

/Please.../ Yugi used his best begging tone.

//Please, Yugi!// Yami returned, not letting himself succumb to his hikari's sweet pleading. Before him Dark Magician and Mystical Elf stood, their arms crossed before them in defensive posture.

/O...okay,/ Yugi murmured, giving in. /I just want to help.../

//Thank you, aibou,// Yami replied, reassuring his light half. //I need to work on something alone. I will contact you soon, I promise.//

/Good night, Yami,/ Yugi sighed, and withdrew his presence completely.

A moment later, Yami looked up to see Dark Magician wearing a look of concern. Placing his hand on the Puzzle, Yami murmured, "Speak, my friend."

"Master," Dark Magician whispered reverently, "you must seek the wisdom of the ages. There *is* one who can advise you."

Yami narrowed his eyes at the monster. "What do you mean? Advise me on what?"

The serene, ice-blue eyes of the Dark Magician looked intently into those of the ancient Pharoah. "Master, when one such as yourself is so highly attuned to the Heart of his Cards, how can those cards not also be attuned to their master's heart? We know what you seek, dear Pharoah."

The diminutive spirit gasped. "You do? Then do you also know how tortured I feel, wanting something like this? I love Yugi and I know our destinies are bound together... then how can I also want to separate from him? Especially in order to fulfill my own desires?"

Dark Magician nodded smoothly. "We feel your conflict. I do not have the answers you seek. I only know of one who can advise you."

"Kureee, kureee!" Kuriboh suddenly squealed, bobbing up from behind Gaia. "Kureee!"

To Yami's wonder, the antics of the little fuzzball brought a smile to the lips of the usually sober Dark Magician. "Even our littlest defender agrees with me. You must seek the wisdom of the ages."

"That's the second time you've said this," Yami muttered, exasperated. "To whom do you refer?"

In response, Dark Magician merely gestured aside. To Yami's shock, a new monster appeared, one which he never would have expected. "Time Wizard! But how can you be here? You're in Jounouchi's deck..."

"But Time Wizard was your card first," Dark Magician explained solemnly. "His spirit is still here."

Yami frowned as Mystical Elf and Gaia retreated, then vanished. After a moment, Kuriboh did as well, leaving only Dark Magician and Time Wizard standing before him.

Then he got it. [Wisdom... of the AGES... of course!] "Time Wizard!" he addressed the comical little caped clock monster. "Activate your Time Magic!"

Time Wizard raised its staff and declared loudly, "Time Magic!"
