Chapter 2: A Love Unfolds
The golden sun crawled over the horizon and shined its golden light into the room of the princess. Her golden bangs shined in the sunlight as she rose from her bed to the morning sun. She slowly rose from the bed still recalling the events of the previous evening, but barely up her dresser came in.
“Kurai-Chan, why are you gloomy this wonderful morning?” The maid came in with a beautiful outfit.
“Shizuka, I don't know, I am forced to marry, but then my childhood friend Lan kissed me last night?”
“Sounds like you had a fun time last night Kurai-Chan.” She placed a long knee length garb around her body and secured it with a gold neckpiece. She also placed a gold waist piece to make sure the dress didn't' slip off.
“I don't know if I love him, but when he kissed me…. my heart pounded and my worries just seemed to leave me.”
“I don't know if I should grace my opinion Kurai-Chan, but I think you love the boy.” She places the arm and leg gold pieces and placed her ankle high shoes on and places her golden headdress with the millennium eye in the center.
“Maybe I do.”
All dressed up, the red haired dresser left the room allowing Kurai to look upon herself. She placed her dark blue cape over the golden neckpiece, and she looked and saw some else, not the lonely lost girl who just wants to fall in love the right way, but a royal child who has power and no feeling. This is not her, she thought as she began to walk down the hallway, he short black hair rested a little bit above her shoulders, the noon breeze blew her hair lightly in the wind. The gold stonewalls seemed to odd, even though she had grown up with them around her.
“At this rate you will be late for the opening ceremony hahaha.”
“Lan, you are dressed up too.” Kurai turned around and Lan was right behind her.
“Well the new year is about to begin in a week.” Lan sped up until he was right beside her.
“It doesn't really matter, I have to be married less than a month after the New Year begins.” Her bangs shadowed her crimson eyes and Lan saw a shiny streak run down her cheek. He stopped and made her face him.
“Are my eye's deceiving me or are those tears…rolling down your face?” Lan wiped them off her soft face with his hand, but his hand didn't leave her face, in fact it then cupped her cheek and he leaned down. “I don't like seeing you hurt like this.”
“I wouldn't want you to see me like this…but I just don't want to get married to a man I don't know…I would rather fall in love the normal way.”
“Well, maybe you can fall in love the normal way.”
With those words Lan leaned down and lightly pressed his lips against hers and just like the night before Kurai kissed back lightly as well. Lan's lips were warm and full of passion and Kurai slightly deepened the kiss as Lan's hands traveled from her face to her waist. Kurai's hand traveled up Lan's chest and fell into a lock around his neck. As the kiss broke, trumpets sounded and the two jumped.
“Oh no, the ceremony, come on we got to get there quick.” He grabbed her hand and the two ran to the balcony. The two stopped short of the curtains.
“For the love of Ra, where have you two been? You two were almost considered late, do you know what the pharaoh would have done?” Priest Mahado scolded the young adults. “I mean you, the princess are at the age of 18 moons and Lan is 20 moons, you think you two would have more responsibility. Kurai bowed her head in shame of this. “I mean especially you Kurai, you are to be the pharaoh next, and a pharaoh cannot be late for anything.”
“Yes Priest Mahado.” Kurai passed through the curtains to be greeted by her father and the people of Egypt.
“All of this Kurai will be yours.” Pharaoh Atemu raised his hand at the crowd. “You will be pharaoh.”
“Hello people of Egypt!” The crowd cheered at her voice and the golden Egyptian sun shined down on the people and brought out the color of Kurai's tanned skin. “I cannot wait to take my role as pharaoh. I promise I will not let you all down. I will do all in my power to make Egypt a better place and better for its people.” The crowd cheered and with that Kurai went behind the curtain and Lan and Priest Seth were waiting for her.
“That was quite a speech you gave your highness, but how can you take the throne without a spouse? Priest Seth stared at her.
“I will find somebody, but that will take time Priest Seth.” Kurai was becoming irritated at the whole spouse issue. “I don't know who you think you are saying this stuff to me, but leave me alone.” Kurai walked past Priest Seth with anger and stomped to her room down the hall.
“Father that was most inconsiderate of you. Why do you always seek to hurt her like this?”
“I need to get to the throne somehow, she is the only one of Atemu's kin that can rightfully take the throne and she can't have such an easy time taking the throne.” Priest Seth walked off into the his room which was closer to the balcony then most and he shut the door in Lan's face. Lan didn't waste one minute and he ran off to find Kurai.
“Kurai!” By the time he caught up to her, she had shut the door to her room.
“Kurai please open up! Its me Lan!” There was an erie silence passed through the stone cavern's and the door opened Kurai's golden pieces were removed, but her cape and her dress where still on and she was crying.
“Kurai what is wrong? Let me hold you.” Kurai embraced Lan really tightly, his left hand was placed on her head and the other on her lower waste. “I will do whatever I can to help you.”
“Thank you Lan, you're the only person around here who seem's to understand how I feel about this stuff.” Kurai raised her head from Lan's chest and looked into his blue eye's. “Why?”
“Because Kurai…I think I am in love with you.” Just like the times before, Lan kissed Kurai, but this time he started very deep. Kurai moved a little closer to Lan and she started to go on tip toe so she wouldn't have to reach so high and she kiss hard back. Lan leaned forward and they both fell over onto her bed.
“You know what will happen if anyone finds you here?” Kurai's eye's were filled with concern as she stared into the ice blue eye's of Lan.
“I don't care, they made you unhappy and I will make you happy.”
“Thank you Lan.” Lan kissed her again harder and deeper than before and Kurai matched his kiss and her hand were around his neck bringing him closer to her.
“LAN! Where are you? The two startled and Lan got up
“Oh for the love of Ra…how the heck do I get out of your room without Seth finding out I was here?” Lan began to panick
“Relax…he still far away if you go through the secret passage you can appear at the palace gate and walk your way back.” Kurai revealed a secret passage behind the statue of Slifer. “Quick.”
“Thanks Kurai.” Lan crawled through the space and saw the statue being put back in its place.
