Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Double Identity ❯ Changing Identities ( Chapter 2 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

(Meira: I hope you all thought about the question that I gave you at the end of the last chapter.

For those of you who don't know why I asked that question, I'll tell you. I've always wondered who I truly am. I don't know for sure. Like, am I just pretending to be who I am? Am I wearing a mask to cover my true self? I hope that answered that question.

… Damnit… My Social Studies teacher's Daily Board Questions are getting to me…

Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh, and I can't afford to buy the company that makes the shows, the mangas, and all the other stuff [if it is one company… And I don't own Kai Hiwatari either… but GLTB wanted me to put him in, minus the BeyBlade stuff. I don't know anything about Beyblade either. I don't own BeyBlade either. So there. *sniffle*

Now, I'll shut up and let you guys read this story.)

~~Saéka's POV~~

Okay, this was getting really strange here. Aunt Diana was telling me that I'm not who I think I am. I'm not Saéka Mizuki. How very strange.

"This needs to be private," Aunt Diana said, looking at Virginia.

"Okay," Virginia said, understanding perfectly. "I know you two need some time to talk to each other." With that, she left.

"Okay," I said, turning to Aunt Diana. "What is this all about?"

"You were born in Tokyo, Japan," she said. I noticed that breathing was becoming increasingly difficult for her. "You're not half German, half British. You're completely Japanese."

"I don't… understand," I said. "You've told me that I'm European all my life. Now you're telling me that I'm Asian?"

"Yes," she whispered. "Your mother and father… they left you in my possession. Your mother and father thought that it would be too difficult to keep both of you, so they left you with me."

"What do you mean, both of us?" I asked. This was becoming more and more confusing by the minute.

"You and your brother."

"What do you mean, my brother. I'm an only child."

"You and your twin brother… he's still living in Japan."

"I HAVE A TWIN BROTHER?"

"Yes, you do. Your twin… he looks a lot like you…"

"Like where?"

"Your eyes and hair."

"He has highlights?"

"I'm not sure… I haven't seen him since you were both babies…"

I remembered that picture that I had seen when I was four…

~~Flashback~~

"Auntie… who's that?"

"Um… that's nobody."

"I'm sure he's somebody. My teacher says that everybody's somebody."

"No, he's just an old family friend."

"Then he's somebody."

"Yes… I suppose so."

"He has hair that looks a little bit like mine! See? Black, red, and blonde."

"I'm sure it's dyed."

"Well, mine's not dyed. It just turned out this way."

"Little girls shouldn't think that much…"

"I'm four. That's old. That boy looks like he's my age."

"Um… that picture was from a long time ago."

"Then why does it say September 15, 1983 on the back? That was only last year."

"He's a lot older than he looks."

"Oh… but what's his name?"

"Um… oh, it's time for you to go to bed."

"It's only 5:30."

"Little girls should sleep early."

"…"

"Off to bed now."

"Okay…"

~~End Flashback~~

"You mean like that boy in that picture that I saw a long time ago?" I asked.

"Yes," she whispered. "That was your brother."

"What else didn't you tell me?"

"Your real birthday… isn't today."

"What?"

"It was a month ago… June 4th."

"But I am 16, right?"

"Yes, you are 16."

"But what am I going to do now?"

"Go to Japan… find your brother. He needs you, now more than ever."

"What? Does he even know that I exist… whoever this guy is."

"No, he doesn't know. But your grandfather knows."

"Some crazy old geezer knows that I exist?"

"Hush, Saéka," Aunt Diana said, sounding amused. "He's your grandfather."

"What the… I suppose so…"

"Yes… please go."

"Why should I go to Japan to find some guy that doesn't even know that I exist, just because you say that he's my brother?"

"Because he is your brother."

"What if I find the wrong guy? I mean, what if I find some crazy, lunatic Egyptian that runs around taking over peoples' minds and say that he's my brother?"

"That's crazy, Saéka… I thought that you would have learned something in all your trips across the world."

"Um… no."

Aunt Diana laughed. "You're just like you always were. Sarcastic yet kind."

"Kind? Me? No way."

Aunt Diana laughed again. "But Saéka, please just listen to me, and go to Domino."

"Domino? You want to eat pizza now?"

"No, the town of Domino."

"They named a town after a pizza brand?"

"No… it's a town in Japan."

"Go figure. I always thought that those Japanese people had weird names. Like Yoko and Aibou, and stuff like Mou Hitori no Boku. I mean, who's going to use words like those?"

"The Japanese."

"…"

"Please… just go to Japan… I need you to…"

"Excuse me," I said politely to the guy sitting next to me on the plane. "Do you mind moving for a second?"

"No problem," he said, flashing a smile at me.

What a strange person. I mean, he was good looking and all, but what was with the dice earring? Was he obsessed with dice or something?

I got up and walked to the back of the plane, where it was quiet.

I stood there, thinking to myself. Here I was, on a plane to Domino, wherever that was. Ha. It still sounded like a town obsessed with pizza to me.

I pulled out my dueling deck. The deck that I had worked so hard to put together… going from place to place in search of cards, winning duels, and finally becoming North American Champion. Yes, I sound egotistic right now, but there's not much to think about right now.

I mean, it's just so interesting that I have a twin brother that doesn't know that I exist and all, but I just don't want to think about that right now. I could focus on my dueling strategies. After all, I heard that some weirdo was hosting a tournament in Domino. Ha. Probably to see who could eat the most pizza or something like that. But otherwise, I was pretty sure that this was going to be a dueling tournament.

"Hey," a voice said. I turned around to see that psychopath with the dice earring standing next to me. "What're you doing here, standing all by yourself?"

"Thinking," I replied shortly.

"My name's Duke. Duke Devlin," he said, extending his hand.

"Saéka. Saéka Mizuki," I replied, shaking his hand. Was this guy just trying to be nice, or was he trying to find out if I wanted to wear a dice earring too?

"Nice to meet you," Duke said, seduction in his voice. Yeesh. Did he know that most girls didn't fall for that trick anymore? It's like, oh my god, it's so nice to meet you. I think that you're the best. Did you really do that? I think that I'm the best. Ha. Did Duke think that I'd fall for that old trick, again?

"Mm hm…" I replied

"So," he said silkily. "What're you doing back here all by yourself?"

"Thinking," I replied shortly. If he didn't shut up soon, I was going to have to make him shut up.

"About what?"

"Is it any of your business?" I shot at him. He was getting on my nerves more and more.

"No, but I thought that I could come and cheer you up," he said, taken aback. He obviously wasn't used to girls talking back to him. He was clearly more used to girls swooning over the first sight of him.

"Well," I said, forcing a smile. "Thank you for doing that."

"It's okay," he said, regaining his composure. Conceited freak.

I don't know why, but for some reason I prefer the type of guy that has a cold heart. Like that guy that always acts like an idiot, and a jerk and always treats people with disrespect. Like my friend Kai Hiwatari. He was always the best friend that a girl could have. But too bad he was cold hearted… or is that good? Now I'm confused.

"Saéka, did you hear what I said?" Duke asked.

"Nope," I answered coldly. "You see, I don't pay attention to guys like you."

Duke looked offended.

"Sorry," I muttered. "I've got a lot on my mind…"

"I see…" he said slowly. He looked down and saw my deck. "You duel?"

"Yeah," I said. "I'm North American champ you know."

"I'm sure…" he said, smiling at me.

"Wanna duel?"

"Don't have a deck."

"Oh…"

"But I do have another game."

"And what would that be?" I asked, curious.

"Dungeon Dice Monsters."

"Dungeon What?"

"Dungeon Dice Monsters. I created the game."

"Really?" I asked, raising one eyebrow. Duke laughed.

"We will be landing in Domino soon, please get ready for our arrival."

"We'd better get back to our seats," I said, smiling at him.

"Yeah," he replied.

So, we started our descent into Domino. As I looked out the window, I knew that somewhere, somehow, my brother was there.

(Meira: *crying* I'm sorry, but Yami has to leave this world since Yugi beat him in the Ceremonial Battle. So Yami's gone forever… this time for eternity. Seriously, why couldn't Yugi just lose so Yami could stay? … That would be the end of Yu-Gi-Oh!... But thank Ra that America's still on the 4th season {Wakening the Dragons [Don't you think that Awaken the Dragons would be better? Or maybe Awakening the Dragons…]}

Now, for my Chapter Question.

Most people aren't content with the name that their parents gave them. They're often wishing that they could have a different name, one that isn't so… well… like the one that their parents gave them. If you could change your name, would you? Why? What do you think the people around you would think if you did change your name?

I hope that got you thinking!
