Battle Stage 24: Separate Journey's! This Rivalry Renewed

 

Amy, Anzu and Jyoonouchi had left the forests of previous battle and were now approaching the wastes of the Lost Lands. According to Amy this was the edge of the known Shuba territories, beyond it was unexplored wastes of crags crevasses, high cliffs and plunging canyons. No duellist thus far had been foolhardy enough to explore beyond for the most powerful duel monsters ever recorded.

 

The group had skipped Rhodes both the gym and the portside Duellist Centre when Anzu had spotted Serenity cuddling into Yuugi's shirtless frame as they stood talking to Hitomi at the service desk. They continued on their way, it had been four hours since they'd left Rhodes, in all that time Anzu hadn't spoken a word.

 

“Anzu, say something to me honey, please?” Amy requested finally fed up with walking beside her in silence. The said girl shook her head walking away from her partner.

 

“I guess… I thought… I shouldn't have expected him not to move on…” Anzu mumbled, Amy slipped an arm around Anzu's, “But, you've moved on as well right?”

 

“Oh, yeah, of course.” Anzu responded smiling weakly. Amy dropped her arms slowing as Anzu wandered quietly forward.

 

“It doesn't matter who she's with, her heart will always belong to Yuugi.” Jou explained passing her.

 

Amy shook her head, “Maybe, coming along was a bad idea.”

 

“Amy?” Anzu asked turning around.

 

“It's nothing baby, let's keep going.” Amy responded downcast. Anzu sighed and followed her partner leaving Jyoonouchi lagging behind.

 

“This isn't going like I hoped…”

 

After a couple more hours of walking and climbing they'd arrived in a deep canyon. Anzu was the first to speak, “Where are we going?”

 

“The map says the next city is called Archosauria…” Jyoonouchi responded puzzled.

 

“Bizarre name for a city.” Amy commented turning around with a hand on her hip.

 

“You're right.”

 

“Are we still going?” Anzu asked standing between Amy and Jyoonouchi.

 

“Not like we have anywhere else to go.” Jyoonouchi responded to which the girls nodded.

 

Exiting the canyon they stepped onto a plateau overlooking a jungle with a city at its heart. Anzu sighed, her tight black leather pants clung to her legs suddenly feeling stifling against her skin. She pulled the suede jacket off her shoulders and away from her white tank top. “It's going to be warm in there isn't it?”

 

“Yep.” Jyoonouchi responded pulling his green jacket off leaving him in a white T-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers. Jyoonouchi pulled his duel disk from his bag and slipped it onto his arm, “Let's go.”

 

Descending from the plateau into the jungle the trio could feel the sweat condense on their brows, their breathing became heavier the heat stifling the air under the canopy. The jungle was alive with noise, the ground occasionally shook as a large duel monster passed, hidden by fern trees and under brush.

 

Jou led the trio through the jungle into the city. All the buildings were crafted into stone boulders, some three or four stories tall.

 

The three navigated the city until arriving at the other end. Wrought iron gates were left open, two statues flanked the entrance, one of Twin-Headed Behemoth and the other of Serpent Night Dragon. Passing between the statues they entered the gym, the dust became unsettled around their feet as they crossed the floor. Jyoonouchi frowned moving ahead of the two girls, “I know you're the leader of this gym Ryuzaki there's no point hiding.”

 

A dry cackle echoed through the hall, “Smartened up in the last two years have you?” Ryuzaki responded emerging into the light silver duel disk glinting as the sun shone in. “Are you ready?”

 

“Let's go?”

 

Ryuzaki Life Points: 8000

Katsuya Jyoonouchi Life Points: 8000

 

::Ryuzaki::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Uraby (Dark/Dinosaur/4 ATK/1500 DEF/800) in attack mode;

 

2. Jurassic World (Field/Spell) increases all dinosaur monsters attack and defence points three hundred;

 

3. And Raise Body Heat (Equip/Spell) increases Uraby's attack and defence another three hundred points;

 

4. Increasing Uraby's attack a total of six hundred points (ATK/2100 DEF/1400);

 

4. I play two cards face down.”

 

::Jou::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Darkfire Soldier #1 (Fire/Pyro/4 ATK/1700 DEF/1150) in attack mode;

 

2. I add Salamandra (Equip/Spell) to Darkfire Soldier #1 attack seven hundred points (ATK/2400);

 

3. Two cards face down.”

 

Amy blinked and turned to Anzu, “How did Jyoonouchi know Ryuzaki was here?”

 

“Jou and Ryuzaki have had a rivalry going back to Duellist Kingdom, Mai… Kujyaku set him up as Jyoonouchi's opposition as revenge for her first loss to him. Jou bet his Time Wizard against Ryuzaki's Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Ryuzaki lost.”

 

“So he's holding it against him?”

 

“Not as much as some other people…”

 

::Ryuzaki::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Sabersaurus (Earth/Dinosaur/4 ATK/1900 DEF/500) in attack mode;

 

2. I add Gravity Axe - Grarl (Equip/Spell) to increase its attack five hundred points (ATK/2400);

 

3. Jurassic World activates (ATK/2700 DEF/800);

 

4. Sabersaurus, Uraby attack!”

 

Sabersaurus's attack destroyed Darkfire Soldier #1; Uraby's attack inflicted 2100 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Ryuzaki LP: 8000

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 5600

 

::Jou::

 

“I draw;

 

1. Snatch Steal (Equip/Spell) takes control of Sabersaurus at the cost of one thousand life points being added during your stand by phases;

 

2. But we won't get that far, I sacrifice Sabersaurus to summon Jinzo (Dark/Machine/Effect/6 ATK/2400 DEF/1500) in attack mode;

 

3. I play Amplifier and 7Completed;

 

4. Amplifier (Equip/Spell) stops my Trap cards being effected by Jinzo's effect;

 

5. 7Completed (Equip/Spell) increases Jinzo's attack and defence seven hundred points (ATK/3100);

 

6. Jinzo attack!”

 

Jinzo's attack destroyed Uraby.

 

Ryuzaki LP: 7000

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 5600

 

“So you managed to hold onto Jinzo through Battle City.”

 

“Yep.”

 

Ryuzaki smiled, “We have an option at these last gyms, we can bet out top card against our opponent's top card, are you up for that?”

 

“What are you betting?”

 

“Super Conductor Tyranno (Light/Dinosaur/Effect/8 ATK/3300 DEF/1400).”

 

“I'll put Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Dark/Dragon/7 ATK/2400 DEF/2000) up.”

 

::Ryuzaki::

 

Ryuzaki cackled, “I draw;

 

1. I summon Drooling Lizard (Earth/Reptile/3 ATK/900 DEF/800) in defence mode;

 

2. I'll play Ultra Evolution Pill (Spell) and send Drooling Lizard to the graveyard as a sacrifice to summon Black Tyranno (Dark/Dinosaur/Effect/7 ATK/2600 DEF/1800) in attack mode;

 

3. I also play Block Attack (Spell) to switch Jinzo to defence mode;

 

4. This activates Black Tyranno's special ability allowing Black Tyranno to attack your life points directly;

 

5. Black Tyranno attack!”

 

Black Tyranno's attack inflicted 2900 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Ryuzaki LP: 7000

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 2700

 

::Jou::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I play Polymerization (Spell);

 

2. To fuse Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Dark/Dragon/7 ATK/2400 DEF/2000);

 

3. And Meteor Black Dragon (Fire/Dragon/5 ATK/2000 DEF/2500) from my hand;

 

4. To summon Meteor Dragon (Fire/Dragon/Fusion/9 ATK/3500 DEF/2000) in attack mode;

 

5. I also summon Gearfried the Iron Knight (Earth/Warrior/4 ATK/1800 DEF/1600) in attack mode;

 

6. I'll add Axe of Despair (Equip/Spell) to increase Gearfried the Iron Knight's attack one thousand points (ATK/2800);

 

7. Jinzo switches to attack mode and attacks Black Tyranno;

 

8. Gearfried the Iron Knight, Meteor Black Dragon attack!”

 

Jinzo's attack destroyed Black Tyranno; Gearfried the Iron Knight and Meteor Black Dragon inflicted 6300 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 2700

Ryuzaki LP: 700

 

::Ryuzaki::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I play Dark Hole (Spell) to destroy all monsters on the field;

 

2. I summon Hyper Hammerhead (Earth/Dinosaur/Effect/4 ATK/1500 DEF/1200) in attack mode;

 

3. I attack!”

 

Hyper Hammerhead's attack inflicted 1500 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 1200

Ryuzaki LP: 700

 

“One way or another it's over this round.”

 

Ryuzaki chuckled, “It's exciting.”

 

Jou smiled, “Yeah.”

 

::Jou::

 

“I draw;

 

1. Monster Reborn (Spell) to revive Meteor Black Dragon from my graveyard;

 

2. I add United We Stand (Equip/Spell) to increase its attack and defence eight hundred points for every monster on my side of the field (ATK/4300 DEF/2800);

 

3. This is over, Meteor Black Dragon attack!”

 

“Almost but not yet, Monster Reborn activates Hunting Instinct (Trap) allowing me to summon a Dinosaur sub-type from my hand when you special summon a monster;

 

2. Super Conductor Tyranno (Light/Dinosaur/Effect/8 ATK/3300 DEF/1400) in attack mode;

 

3. Jurassic World activates (ATK/3600 DEF/1700).”

 

Meteor Black Dragon's attack destroyed Super Conductor Tyranno.

 

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 1200

Ryuzaki LP: 0

 

The destruction of Ryuzaki's monster left him gaping and Jyoonouchi smiling, “I win.”

 

Ryuzaki sighed, “Yeah, which means you've won the Jurassic Badge and my Super Conductor Tyranno.”

 

Walking over to Jyoonouchi, Ryuzaki handed him the badge and the card and at the same time extended his hand, “No hard feelings?”

 

Jou smiled, “Absolutely.” He responded shaking Ryuzaki's hand.

 

Ryuzaki walked them to the edge of the jungle, they stopped and Ryuzaki lent against a tree, “If you take the right canyon path it will take you back to Rhodes.”

 

Jou nodded, “Thanks.”

 

Meanwhile watching on a monitor a man smiled, “It's almost time, almost…”
