Author's Note: Well, it's that shameless suck up point again, thanks to everyone who's reviewed… now back to the story. Oh, can I ask, do the aesthetic changes I made to Battle Stage 14 (Two Duellist Part 2) make the chapter easier to follow?

Battle Stage 28: Round 2! Wolfpack's Revenge

 

The announcer reappeared in the arena, “The second match in the King of Duellists Tournament is about to begin, introducing first from Domino Japan the champion of Duellists, Yuugi Mutou!”

 

Yuugi Mutou walked onto the stage, playing over the booing was Silverchair's Slave. Walker shook his head, “I know he's not our favourite person, but give the kid some respect, here's a list of the duellists he's defeated, Seto Kaiba, Insector Haga, Mai Kujyaku, Pegasus Crawford, Ryo Bakura and Malik Ishtar, a distinguished list of opponents who've fallen to him in the past four years.”

 

“Now he's here, he's facing a real duel for the first time, a true test, I can't wait.”

 

“His opponent from the Kuril Islands of the Russian Federation, Ro Fujisaki!”

 

Cheers rang through the stadium as two men approached the arena both in long dark coats and shirts and black boots. The Nobodies by Marilyn Manson played over their entrance. The shorter red head shook hands with the taller blonde and entered the arena. He smiled, “It's been a while Mutou.”

 

“Do I know you?”

 

“I offered your girlfriend a ride outside Janus.” He responded with a smirk.

 

Yuugi's eyes narrowed a scowl crossing his features, “The Gigolo…”

 

Ro laughed, “If you want to call me that.”

 

“I'd call you something else, but the ladies in the crowd might be offended.”

 

“You're still an obnoxious shit.”

 

Yuugi grinned, “Glad to hear it.”

 

“We will now determine the type of match.”

 

White light appeared over Yuugi and Ro, the colours quickly shifted from black to red to blue back to white and finally to yellow. “Oh boy.” Walker responded leaning back in his chair while his partner laughed, “That's it, that's it, this is almost as good as a death match.”

 

In the locker room everyone looked to Amy who'd dropped her head again, “It's a last man standing match, standard match rules apply, there's a twist though, the injuries increase for every thousand point drop in life points. The final hit is supposed to knock your opponent out. But it doesn't always work out; some die from their injuries, even if they win…”

 

Before anyone could speak the announcer did, “The bets are in, Yuugi Mutou has won the toss, Let's Duel!”

 

Yuugi Mutou LP: 8000

Ro Fujisaki Life Points: 8000

 

::Yuugi::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Queen's Knight (Light/Warrior/4 ATK/1500 DEF/1300) in attack mode;

 

2. I play two cards face down and end my turn.”

 

::Ro::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Succubus Knight (Earth/Warrior/4 ATK/1650 DEF/1300) in attack mode;

 

2. I play one card face down and end my turn.”

 

::Yuugi::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon King's Knight (Light/Warrior/Effect/4 ATK/1600 DEF/1400) in attack mode;

 

2. King's Knight's effect activates when it's summoned to the field while Queen's Knight is on the field, I can summon Jack's Knight (Light/Warrior/5 ATK/1900 DEF/1400) in attack mode;

 

3. Jack's Knight attack Succubus Knight;

 

4. Queen's Knight, King's Knight attack!”

 

“I activate Michizure (Trap) when one of my monster is destroyed, it destroys one monster on your side of the field, say King's Knight.”

 

Jack's Knight attack destroyed Succubus Knight; Queen's Knight's attack inflicted 1500 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Yuugi Mutou LP: 8000

Ro Fujisaki LP: 6250

 

::Ro::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Zombyra the Dark (Dark/Warrior/Effect/4 ATK/2100 DEF/500) in attack mode;

 

2. Zombyra the Dark attack!”

 

“My turn, Magic Cylinder (Trap) reverses your attack onto you!”

 

Zombyra the Dark's attack inflicted 2100 points of direct damage to the player.

 

Yuugi Mutou LP: 8000

Ro Fujisaki LP: 4150

 

Ro shook with pain as the blows ripped his skin, blood splattering the walls of the arena as he stumbled backwards.

 

“Want to quit yet?” Yuugi asked with a rye smile.

 

Ro growled, “Hell no, keep fighting you little bastard!”

 

::Yuugi::

 

Yuugi growled, “Ok then, I draw;

 

1. I sacrifice Jack's and Queen's Knights;

 

2. To summon Buster Blader (Earth/Warrior/Effect/7 ATK/2600 DEF/2300) in attack mode;

 

3. Buster Blader attack Zombyra the Dark.”

 

Buster Blader's attack destroyed Zombyra the Dark.

 

Buster Blader's attack ripped through Zombyra the Dark and hit Ro's arm, blood again splattering the walls of the arena.

 

Yuugi Mutou LP: 8000

Ro Fujisaki LP: 3650

 

In the locker room Serenity had buried her head in her brother's shoulder as the others looked on, hopeful the match would end soon.

 

::Ro::

 

“I'll fight back, I draw;

 

1. Polymerization (Spell);

 

2. To fuse M Warrior #1 (Earth/Warrior/3 ATK/1000 DEF/500);

 

3. And M Warrior #2 (Earth/Warrior/3 ATK/500 DEF/1000) from my hand;

 

4. To summon Karbonala Warrior (Earth/Warrior/Fusion/4 ATK/1500 DEF/1200) in attack mode;

 

5. I add Fusion Weapon (Equip/Spell) to increase Karbonala Warrior's attack and defence fifteen hundred points (ATK/3000 DEF/2700);

 

6. I summon Dark Blade (Dark/Warrior/4 ATK/1800 DEF/1500) in attack mode;

 

7. Finally I add Fusion Sword Murasame Blade (Equip/Spell) to increase Dark Blade's attack eight hundred points (ATK/2600);

 

8. Karbonala Warrior attack;

 

9. Dark Blade attack!”

 

Karbonala Warrior's attack destroyed Buster Blader; Dark Blade's attack inflicted 2600 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Yuugi's body became a chopping block as Karbonala Warrior and Dark Blade tore through his torso, blood draining from his body staining his shirt and pants. Yuugi stumbled but regained his feet and smiled, “Good, now we've got a game.”

Ro Fujisaki LP: 3650

 

::Yuugi::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I play Chaos - Black Magic Ritual (Ritual/Spell);

 

2. And sacrifice Blast Magician (Fire/Spellcaster/Effect/4 ATK/1400 DEF/1700);

 

3. And Skilled White Magician (Light/Spellcaster/Effect/4 ATK/1700 DEF/1900) from my hand;

 

4. To summon Magician of Black Chaos (Dark/Spellcaster/Ritual/8 ATK/2800 DEF/2600) in attack mode;

 

5. I play one card face down;

 

6. And ATTACK!”

 

Magician of Black Chaos's attack destroyed Dark Blade.

 

Magician of Black Chaos's attack passed through Dark Blade to Ro. Flames wipped around the duellist, his skin sizzling under the flame. All Yuugi saw though, was Ro Fujisaki smiling in the flames, a sight that would haunt his dreams in the weeks to come.

1. D. D. Survivor (Dark/Warrior/Effect/4 ATK/1800 DEF/200) in attack mode;

Karbonala Warrior's attack destroyed Magician of Black Chaos; D. D. Survivor's attack inflicted 1800 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Ro Fujisaki LP: 3450

Yuugi Mutou LP: 3000

 

D. D. Survivor attack hit Yuugi full force throwing him against the lexan, the blood from his wounds smearing the panelling. Yuugi staggered forward blood now trickling down his face, “My turn!”

 

::Yuugi::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I remove Skilled White Magician (Light/Spellcaster/4 ATK/1700 DEF/1900);

 

2. And Magician of Black Chaos (Dark/Spellcaster/Ritual/8 ATK/2800 DEF/2600) from my graveyard;

 

3. To summon Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of Beginning (Light/Warrior/Effect/8 ATK/3000 DEF/2500) in attack mode;

 

4. Black Luster Soldier attack!”

 

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of Beginning's attack destroyed D. D. Survivor.

 

Blood splattered to the floor as Black Luster Soldier's attack hit. Ro doubled over vomiting blood, after a minute he regained his feet.

Ro Fujisaki LP: 1650

“I-I draw;

 

1. I pl-play Monster Reborn (Spell) to revive Buster Blader (Earth/Warrior/Effect/7ATK/2600 DEF/2300) from your graveyard in attack mode;

 

2. I add Sword of Dragon Slayer (Equip/Spell) to increase Buster Blader's attack seven hundred points (ATK/3300);

 

3. Buster Blader attack;

 

4. Karbonala Warrior kill!”

 

Buster Blader's attack destroyed Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of Beginning; Karbonala Warrior's attack inflicted 3000 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

“It's not over yet, I play Nutrient Z (Trap) to increase my Life Points four thousand (LP:7000).”

 

Yuugi Mutou LP: 3700

Ro Fujisaki LP:1650

 

Yuugi's respiration increased, his vision blurring, Yuugi squeezed his eyes shut opening them again to clear vision.

 

::Yuugi::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I play Silent Magician LV4 (Light/Spellcaster/Effect/4ATK/1000 DEF/1000) in defence mode;

 

2. I play two cards face down;

 

3. I end my turn”

 

::Ro::

 

“I draw;

 

1. That's pathetic, Buster Blader wipe him out;

 

2. Karbonala Warrior kill!”

 

“Wait, there's more, Magic Effect Arrow and Dimensional Magic;

 

1. Magic Effect Arrow (Quick Play/Spell) destroys all face-up Spell cards on your side of the field it inflicts five hundred points of direct damage for every card destroyed;

 

2. Dimensional Magic (Quick Play/Spell) allows me to sacrifice Silent Magician LV4 to summon Dark Magician (Dark/Spellcaster/7ATK/2500DEF/2100) in attack mode, this allows me to destroy your Buster Blader.”

 

“No!” Ro exclaimed

 

Karbonala Warrior's attack failed; Karbonala Warrior is destroyed.

 

Yuugi Mutou LP: 3700

Ro Fujisake LP: 0

 

Dark Magician's attack tore through Karbonala Warrior to burn Ro Fujisaki, it threw him against the lexan where he slumped unconscious. The announcer reappeared beside Yuugi, “Your winner via knockout Yuugi Mutou!”

 

As the announcer raised Yuugi's hand in victory, Yuugi's wounds overwhelmed him.

 

In the locker room Anzu and Serenity screamed watching Yuugi's bloodied body collapse to the floor of the arena. In moments they were out to the arena beside Yuugi's prone body. Jou and Kaiba quickly carried him back to a small medical room with a bed. Amy sat beside him examining Yuugi before removing his shirt. Anzu squeaked and Amy patted her hand, “He'll be o k, he needs time to recover, I'll bandage his wounds, then we'll let him rest…I had two years of training as a nurse”, she explained to answer their looks.

 

“Ok, we'll let you work” Jou agreed, ushering the others out, but stopped in realisation, “Anzu, are you coming?”

 

Anzu shook his head, “I'll wait until he wakes up.”

 

Sometime later Ro Fujisaki struggled up the corridor towards Yuugi's room. In his bloodied hand he carried a small knife, the other hand held the wall holding himself up. He'd woken to a loss, a loss of respect and comrades, all he had left was his hate, he would find Yuugi and this his girl to punish the shrimp before cutting his throat.

 

A shadow appeared at the end of the corridor behind him. Ro felt a sharp pain in his back, turning as he fell he saw a man holding a bow, the arrow snapping as he hit the floor. The man stepped over him as Ro spoke with his final breathes, “Phoenix…why?”

 

“I have my own plans for Yuugi Mutou…”

Authors Note: This will be my last chapter for seven weeks (five or six plus typing time). I recently injured my hand by cutting a tendon in two places and a nerve and an artery. This will put me out of action for several weeks, but eventually I will recover.
