Battle Stage 29: Saints of Death! The Machines of Rage

 

The crowd stirred beneath the announce desk as the spotlights gathered at apex of the stage. The crowd went silent as the announcer appeared before them on stage, “The following is a four on four series, Team Mutou vs. the Saints of Death!”

 

The crowd exploded into cheers when the Saints of Death were announced. In the locker room Serenity looked from Amy to Mai, “The who?”

 

Amy was about to speak when Kaiba cut her off, “They're a group of ruthless hardcore duellists who came together under Phoenix, they tried to recruit me once.” He explained.

 

“What a shock…” Jou commented sarcastically, Kaiba glared and was about to retort when Amy cut in, “The Saints of Death dominated the underground duelling tournaments for a year, there are a whole lot of bodies to testify to that fact.”

 

“I hate this place.” Jou commented leaving the room.

 

Jyoonouchi wound his way around to the medical ward, he noticed a small pool of blood near the door. He shook his head and knocked, entering after a moment. Inside he found Anzu holding Yuugi's hand, tears rolling down her cheeks.

 

“Hi.”

 

Anzu wiped the tears from her eyes, “Hi.”

 

Jyoonouchi moved into the room closing the door behind him, “I'll refrain from asking the stupid question and move to how is he?”

 

Anzu shrugged, “It's hard to say, when he wakes up we'll know.”

 

Jou stood over Yuugi his face softening, “I'm sorry Yuugi, I'm sorry for this whole mess, you need to live, you can't break Anzu's heart again.”

 

Anzu stared at the floor as Jou walked away, “Thanks, Jyoonouchi.”

 

Jou rested his hand on the door handle, “Anzu, you know I would have treated you right…”

 

Anzu looked up and smiled, “I know you would have, I'll always love you for that, but only ever as a friend.”

 

Jou nodded, “I know, I'm sorry, what happened that night… is something I'll always regret…”

 

Anzu sighed, “Jou, don't blame yourself, it's past, let it stay there.”

 

Before Jou could speak again he was called to the arena, he excused himself and Anzu resumed her vigil over Yuugi's prone form.

 

“Ladies and Gentleman the first match in the King of Duellists tournament finals is about to begin, introducing first representing Team Mutou, from Domino Japan, Katsuya Jyoonouchi!”

 

Jyoonouchi walked out to a chorus of boos as Side to Side by Three 6 Mafia featuring Bow Wow played over the speakers.

 

“His opponent from Los Angeles California, representing the Saints of Death `Bandit' Keith Howard!”

 

The crowd cheered as Bandit Keith burst through the curtain, the crowd yelled along to Three 6 Mafia's Somebodies Gonna Get It. Keith smirked, “It's been a long time…”

 

“Shame it couldn't have been longer…”

 

Keith laughed, “I'm sure, let's go.”

 

“We will now select the match type for the following contest.”

 

The spotlight cycled through the colours at white, to which Keith scowled, “Roll it again!”

 

“Hey, what's the deal!” Jou yelled.

 

“White means standard match rules apply, I'm not letting you off that easy!”

 

The spotlight rolled again arriving at red. Bandit Keith grinned as the announcer enlightened the crowd and the locker room, “This will be a first blood match!”

 

“What does that mean?” Jou asked.

 

“First player to lose all their life points bleeds, unless you start bleeding before then.” Keith replied with a sadistic grin.

 

“Yeah, figures…”

 

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 8000

Bandit Keith LP: 8000

 

::Jou::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon Rocket Warrior (Light/Warrior/Effect/4 ATK/1500 DEF/1300) in attack mode;

 

2. I play two cards face down.”

 

::Keith::

 

“I draw;

 

1. When you have a monster on your side of the field I can special summon Cyber Dragon (Light/Machine/Effect/5 ATK/2100 DEF/1600) in attack mode;

 

2. I add 7 Completed (Equip/Spell) to increase Cyber Dragon's attack and defence seven hundred points (ATK/2800 DEF/2400);

 

3. I play two cards face down and end my turn.”

 

::Jou::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I switch Rocket Warrior to defence mode;

 

2. I summon a monster face down in defence mode;

 

3. That's it.”

 

::Keith::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I summon X-Head Cannon (Light/Machine/4 ATK/1800 DEF/1500) in attack mode;

 

2. Cyber Dragon ATTACK;

 

3. X-Head Cannon attack!”

 

“Your attack flips Mysterious Guard (Earth/Spellcaster/Effect/3 ATK/800 DEF/1200) face-up, this triggers its effect returning Cyber Dragon to the top of your deck, if there's a face-up Warrior sub-type monster on my field I can return X-Head Cannon to your hand via Mysterious Guard's second ability.”

 

Keith laughed, “Not bad, you've improved since Duellist Kingdom, I'll still make you bleed though.”

 

“Right, I'm still the one in control, if you haven't noticed.” Jyoonouchi said with a smile.

 

Not for long Katsuya.”

 

::Jou::

 

“We'll see, I draw;

 

1. I summon Gearfried the Iron Knight (Earth/Warrior/Effect/4 ATK/1800 DEF/1600) in attack mode;

 

2. I play Release Restraint (Spell) by tributing my Gearfried the Iron Knight from the field;

 

3. I can special summon Gearfried the Swordmaster (Earth/Warrior/Effect/7 ATK/2600 DEF/2200) in attack mode;

 

4. I switch Mysterious Guard to attack mode;

 

5. I add Sword of Dragon Slayer (Equip/Spell) to Gearfried the Swordmaster to increase its attack seven hundred points (ATK/3300);

 

6. Mysterious Guard attack;

 

7. Gearfried the Swordmaster ATTACK!”

 

Gearfried the Swordmaster and Mysterious Guard's attacks inflicted 4100 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 8000

Bandit Keith LP: 3900

 

“Wow, half his life points gone in a single turn, fourth at Battle City and second at Duellist Kingdom weren't flukes then.” Walker responded astonished.

 

“It's not over yet, Bandit Keith is a competent duellist, no way will he let this go without a challenge.”

 

::Keith::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I use Cyber Dragon's special ability to summon it to the field in attack mode (ATK/2100 DEF/1600);

 

2. I play Mind Control (Spell) to take control of Rocket Warrior until the end of the turn;

 

3. I play Foolish Burial (Spell) sending a card from my hand to the graveyard;

 

4. But it won't be there for long as I play Monster Reborn (Spell) to revive Zoa (Dark/Fiend/7 ATK/2600 DEF/1900) in attack mode;

 

5. This activates Metal Morph (Trap) to increase Zoa's attack three hundred points (ATK/2900);

 

6. I now summon Machiners Sniper (Earth/Machine/Effect/4 ATK/1800 DEF/800) in attack mode;

 

7. Machiners Sniper attack Mysterious Guard;

 

8. Zoa attack Gearfried the Swordmaster;

 

9. This activates Metal Morph's second ability increases Zoa's attack by half of Gearfried's attack (ATK/5250);

 

10. Cyber Dragon ATTACK!”

 

Machiners Sniper's attack destroyed Mysterious Guard; Zoa's attack destroyed Gearfried the Swordmaster; Cyber Dragon's attack inflicted 2100 points of direct damage to the opponent.

 

Bandit Keith LP: 3900

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 2950

 

“From hero to zero in one turn, this is what makes Bandit Keith so dangerous, now we have to see whether Jyoonouchi can comeback.”

 

Meanwhile Anzu sat by Yuugi's bedside, she held his hand under the blanket. She'd considered laying next to him, but Anzu was concerned about how Serenity might react to Anzu being in bed with her man. A knock at the door distracted Anzu from her musings, calling for the person to enter Anzu guessed it was one of the group coming to check on her. It was, just not the person Anzu wanted to see, “Hi Anzu.” Serenity said entering the room.

 

“Hi Serenity.” Anzu responded coldly.

 

“I wanted to check on Yuugi.” Serenity explained softly moving towards the bed.

 

“He's unconscious, you've checked, bye.” Anzu spat as if it were venom.

 

Serenity recoiled then gathered herself to respond, “Hey, since when do you have the monopoly on caring for Yuugi?”

 

“Since I love him!” Anzu yelled back.

 

“I love him too, and oh yeah, he's my boyfriend!” Serenity spat clenching her fingers against her palms. Anzu scowled, “You go around slapping all your boyfriends? That must make you popular.”

 

“Of course I don't, I was just angry, that's not the point anyway!”

“I think it is, you slapped Yuugi for no reason but you call him your boyfriend but you're slapping him around, you're angry? I think you're scared and I want to know why?” Anzu yelled standing and moving around the bed to face Serenity.

 

“Why? I can't think, how about because my boyfriend's boyhood crush is back in his life and I'm going to lose him and be alone, again…”

 

Anzu paused, “Again?”

 

Serenity nodded, “Yeah, um, there was a boy at school… he liked me a lot but he dumped me before we even had a fourth date, because I wouldn't put out…”

 

“Is that why you gave it to Yuugi?” Anzu asked gently, Serenity nodded, “I didn't want to lose him…”

 

“You know Yuugi better, he doesn't want you for your body, he…”

 

“Was on the rebound from you.” Serenity finished having cut in.

 

Anzu sighed, “Maybe but if Yuugi was willing to be with you, regardless of what happened, he must have recognised something that made you unique and that's a special thing.”

 

Serenity smiled a tear rolling down her cheek, “Thanks Anzu.”

 

Anzu hugged the younger girl, “It's true.”

 

Serenity smiled sheepishly, “I'm sorry everything got so messed up.”

 

“I'll forgive you, if you tell me one thing…”Anzu replied with a devious grin.

 

“What…?” Serenity asked nervously.

 

“What's Yuugi like in bed?”

 

“Anzu?!” Serenity yelped laughing.

 

Anzu continued smiling, “What, a girl has a right to ask.”

 

“What's Amy like in bed?” Serenity retorted returning Anzu's smile with a smirk. Anzu laughed some more, “I asked first!”

 

“Ok, ok, he's… pretty incredible actually.” Serenity replied with a knowing smile. Anzu grinned glancing at Yuugi, “Really?”

 

Serenity nodded, “Yes, he's very satisfying, and… he loves you, even when he won't admit it. I know I could never make him forget you…” Serenity admitted dropping her head, Anzu cupped her chin raising her eyes to her level, “You underestimate your charm Serenity, you could make anyone forget, even me…” She assured smiling bitterly.

 

Serenity shook her head, “He'd never forget you.”

 

“He tried… I broke his heart, I didn't even have the decency to do it quickly, Kaiba was right, I am a bitch… you don't need to respond to that.”

 

A small smile crossed Serenity's face fading quickly as she looked to Yuugi, “I've lost something I never had… if, when he wakes up, I'll tell him it's over…” Serenity explained tears rolling down her cheeks.

 

“You don't…”

 

“Yes I do Anzu, I can't be with Yuugi if he loves you, it's not on either of us.” Serenity responded, Anzu grabbed Serenity's arm, “Don't do it for him, more over don't do it to yourself. He loves you, he gave himself to you, give it time, he deserves to be happy, I only wish it had been with me…”

 

Serenity nodded slowly embracing Anzu before she left the room, Anzu wiped her tears away sitting beside Yuugi again stroking his face, “I love you Yuugi, but you're breaking a lot of hearts… don't break mine again, wake up, we need you.”

 

“Well Katsuya, what will you do?” Keith asked smirking, he pulled a packet from his pocket and pulled a cigarette placing it between his lips.

 

Jou growled, “I'll fight.”

 

Bandit Keith LP: 3900

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 2950

 

::Jou::

 

“I draw;

 

1. I play Raigeki (Spell) to destroy all monsters on your side of the field…”

 

“I activate my face down card Anti-Raigeki (Trap) which destroys all your monsters in place of mine!”

 

Jou sighed, 2. “ Figures, fine, I play Red-Eyes Black Chick (Dark/Dragon/Effect/1 ATK/800 DEF/500) in attack mode;

 

3. I activate Red-Eyes Black Chick's special ability to sacrifice it to summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Dark/Dragon/7 ATK/2400 DEF/2000) in attack mode;

 

4. Now I can send Rocket Warrior and Red-Eyes Black Chick out of the graveyard;

 

5. To summon Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of End (Dark/Dragon/Effect/8 ATK/3000 DEF/2500) in attack mode;

 

6. Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of End destroy Machiners Sniper;

 

7. Red-Eyes Black Dragon destroy Cyber Dragon!”

 

Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of End's attack destroyed Machiners Sniper; Red-Eyes Black Dragon's attack destroyed Cyber Dragon.

 

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 2450

Bandit Keith LP: 2400

 

::Keith::

 

Keith laughed, “To bad, you've improved, but I still win, I draw;

 

1. I summon Steamroid (Earth/Machine/Effect/4 ATK/1800 DEF/1800) in attack mode;

 

2. I play Riryoku (Spell) to half the attack of Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of End (ATK/1500) to increase Zoa's attack by the amount removed from your dragon;

 

3. Zoa attack Red-Eyes Black Dragon;

 

4. Zoa's attack activates Metalmorph's second ability to increase it's attack half of Red-Eyes Black Dragon's (ATK/5600)!”

 

Zoa's attack destroyed Red-Eyes Black Dragon.

 

Bandit Keith LP: 2400

Katsuya Jyoonouchi LP: 0

 

Zoa's attack blew through Red-Eyes Black Dragon and hit Jou sending him to the deck, the blood pouring from a cut on his head as Keith stood in victory.

 

“Your winner, Bandit Keith!”

 

The duellists retreated as the announcer re-appeared, “The time is now 23:00 hours, the tournament will be suspended until 10:00 hours tomorrow when duelling will resume.”
