Yuri: Hey guys!

Jou: Hello Yuri. You have Chapter 5 with you?

Yuri: Of course I do!

Jou: Yay! I'm so excited.

Seto: Me too. And I don't get excited often.

Yuri: Um…ya. Anyways here you go! Enjoy chapter 5!

 

…New Beginnings…

 

Yugi sprung up from the bed he was lying on and breathed in and out heavily. `That was an awful dream' he thought to himself. He laid back down on the bed and stared up at the red ceiling. After mere seconds a thought struck his mind. `Wait…my ceiling isn't red!' He jumped back up so that he was sitting straight up in the bed and stared at the blanket that covered him. `And my blanket isn't red either!' At this point Yugi snapped his head up and glanced around the extremely large room. A room that wasn't his. This room had brown wooden floors and had a huge glass table with a red cloth over it. The bed that he was laying on was four times the size of his bed. The most extravagant thing about the room is that there was a huge window that had red curtains that were hooked to the wall. Everything could be seen from that window. The bright sunny sky, the sandy shore, the blue sea. With that last thought realization suck in as Yugi desperately looked around and noticed that he was not under water. Yugi became frantic at this point. Where the hell was he?! Memories from last night flooded his mind as he remembered the items, the wish, the feeling that he was drowning. But wait…Mermaids don't drown…humans do. With that last thought, Yugi quickly ripped of the blanket that covered him and screamed. He reached out and touched his…legs. Yugi was about to go into hysteria when he heard a very familiar voice.

 

“Yugi?”

 

Yugi snapped his head towards the door as he saw Jou peering in.

 

“Jou!” Yugi said in pure happiness. He was so terrified; he did not have the slightest clue of where he was or what was going on.

 

“”I'm glad you woke up. You had us all scared” Jou said as he walked in.

 

Yugi's eyes widened in shock even more if that was possible. “Jou” he said, “You have legs too?”

 

“O ya” Jou said looking down at his legs “so I do.” Jou grinned.

 

Yugi however wasn't in the mood for games. “Jou what happened last night? Where are we? And why are we human?”

 

Jou sighed and sat down on the corner of the bed before turning to Yugi. “Well…”

 

…Flashback…

 

Jou. Ryou, and Malik all burst out of the water dragging Yugi right behind them. When they got to the shore, they all inched out of the water and laid Yugi on the shore's floor. By now they had already realized that Yugi's fins and tail had disappeared and had been replaced with two legs. They also realized that he was completely naked. Ryou put his ear against Yugi's chest and sighed in relief.

 

“He's still breathing” Ryou said.

 

Jou and Malik let out a huge sigh and then they all turned towards each other.

 

Jou was the first one to break the silence. “So…it worked then?”

 

“It must have” Malik said in disbelief.

 

“I can't believe it” Jou replied.

 

While Jou and Malik were trying to figure out what they were going to do next, Ryou reached for an old shabby rag that had washed up on the shore and wrapped it around Yugi's waist.

 

“We cant' just leave him here!” Jou said.

 

“I know but we also can't stay out of the water too long” Malik replied.

 

They were all at a loss before a voice had interrupted their thinking.

 

“Yugi?” a voice said.

 

They all turned around to see the man that looked similar to Yugi that they had seen two days prior. After the man had realized that it was in fact Yugi who was passed out on the shore, he ran and kneeled down to lift up Yugi's head. He completely disregarded the other individuals around him until one spoke up. Jou, who at first wanted to fight the person who had closed in on all of them, thought of something that the man said that caught his attention.

 

“Wait,” Jou said, “How did you know his name was Yugi?”

 

Yami looked up at the `person' talking to him and began to tell him about how for the past two nights, Yugi had been coming up to the surface to talk to him. Jou was quite shocked at this. That would probably explain why the person wasn't absolutely shocked that there were three mermaids in front of him.

 

“What happened? Why is Yugi…human?” the man asked.

 

“It's a long story,” Jou said.

 

“I have time,” Yami said.

 

Jou motioned to Ryou who began to explain what happened only a half hour earlier. After Ryou had explained everything Yami nodded. If someone had told him that there were items that granted wishes then he would probably laugh. However since there were three mermaids in front of him when they were supposedly not real and since Yugi was now a human when he clearly wasn't a few hours ago...well, he would believe anything. Yami cupped Yugi in his arms and stood up.

“I'll take care of him,” he said.

 

Jou really didn't want to leave Yugi in the hands of someone who he didn't even know but what choice did he have. He knew that Ryou, Malik, and himself needed to go back into the water soon but…he looked back to the man who held Yugi so caringly in his arms.

 

“Ok” Jou said. The man nodded and began to walk away but with every step he took, the more Jou felt guilty.

 

“Wait!” Jou said, which caused the man to stop. Jou turned to face Malik and Ryou before saying “I have to go with him.” The two nodded in understanding before Jou grabbed hold of the millennium rod sitting next to him and closed his eyes.

 

…End of Flashback…

 

“And that was it” Jou said.

 

Yugi's eyes brimmed with tears as he started to speak. “So you used your wish to become human…so I wouldn't be alone?”

 

Jou smiled brightly before patting Yugi on the back. “Now what kind of friend would I be if I left you all alone with people that I didn't even know?”

 

Yugi smiled and hugged Jou tight. “Thank you Jou,” he said.

 

Jou hugged Yugi back before saying “No problem Yuge!”

 

After Yugi had let go he glanced up at Jou and asked “So where are we?” But before Jou could answer, the door squeaked open and a familiar person walked in.

 

“Yugi?”

 

Yugi looked past Jou to see the person who had welcomed him and Jou into his house so warmly.

 

“Yami!” Yugi said happily.
