…Take a Swim…
It had been about a week since Yugi and Jou's new transformations and at this point in time, Malik and Ryou were peeking over the large column that stood before them and laid their eyes on their worst nightmare.
“Malik, Ryou come here!” King Solomon commanded.
Malik and Ryou proceeded to swim towards the angry king, keeping their eyes on the ground below them the entire time. When they were finally in front of him, they carefully glanced up.
“Yes King Solomon?” Ryou asked politely.
“Where is my grandson?!” the king yelled.
“We-we don't kn-know” Ryou stuttered, getting more and more intimidated by the king with each passing second.
“Then where is Jounouchi?!”
“We don't know where he is either, Your Highness” Malik answered.
King Solomon face went red with impatience. “Well then don't let me see you two again until you two find them! Understand?!”
“Yes Your Majesty” Ryou and Malik said in unison as they bowed and left.
After they were out of view, King Solomon went to his throne and sat down before he rested his head in his hands and wept. “What have I done?” he said aloud to no one.
Malik and Ryou on the other hand were swimming as fast and as far away as they possibly could in case the king changed his mind and decide to fry them right then and there.
“O they owe us big!” Malik said angrily as Ryou just nodded his head. They decided to swim towards the surface on the slight chance that Yugi and Jou would be there to update them on what was going on. When they appeared from the water, they glanced around the empty shore. Ryou sighed.
“There not here. We should just come back later,” he said.
“And be killed by Yugi's grandfather?! Thanks but no thanks, I like my head exactly where it is” Malik said.
“I know but there's no use in staying up here. We'll check back soon. It's too dangerous” Ryou explained.
“Ya your right” Malik admitted. “Let's go.”
Ryou watched as Malik dived into the water and went to follow, when a tight fist wrapped around his silver locks.
…Meanwhile inside…
“Seto, you need to lighten up on Jou” Yami said.
Seto glared at Yami from the other side of the long wooden table.
“I don't treat Jou any differently from the rest of the servants. There's no reason why he should get special treatment,” Seto said indifferently.
Yami just shook his head and sighed. He just wasn't getting through to his cousin. After Seto had sent Yami away to get ready for their upcoming meeting with Seto's business associates, Yami walked quietly through the halls. He entered his room to find Yugi sitting on a chair staring out a window at the sea.
“Miss it?” Yami said bringing Yugi back into reality.
“Ya” Yugi said. Yugi then turned around to face Yami and smiled. “But I'm having a wonderful time experiencing this new life. And it's ten times better when you have someone to share it with.”
Yami smiled. “You know I'm always here for you, my little hikari.”
Yugi smiled back. By now he had gotten use to Yami calling him his light and he found it nothing more then a term of endearment shared between two close friends. Yugi and Yami's relationship had actually grown quite significantly in the past week because of the fact that the two spent so much time together. Yami had been teaching Yugi all the fascinating things about the human world and Yugi just couldn't get enough of it.
At this point, Yugi turned back towards to window and sighed. “I do miss it though. I miss the water, and my grandpa, and Malik and Ryou.”
Yami felt for the other one. It must not be easy to give up your entire life and just become accustom to a completely different one. “Well maybe after my meeting, we'll go take a swim. Do you like that idea?”
Yugi turned and looked at Yami with shining eyes. “Really?!” Yugi asked happily. Yugi instantly shot to his feet, grabbed Yami's arm, and pulled him towards the door. Yami laughed slightly.
“I can't right now Yugi. If I don't go to this meeting, Seto will have my head.”
“Please Yami! Pwetty Pwease! I promise we won't take too long but I just can't wait. I miss my old home so much!” Yugi said as his eyes grew even wider and he pouted his lower lip. Yami stared at Yugi in shock and felt his resistance slipping away with each passing second. Soon enough, Yami just couldn't take it.
“Ok” Yami said “But only for a minute.”
“O thank you Yami! Thank you!” as Yugi ran out of the room, down the halls, and through the front door. Yami just smiled after the small boy. Yugi was such a delight to have. He made every day that he spent with Yami special. Yami touched his chest as he felt an unfamiliar feeling but it disappeared as quickly as it came. Yugi was already on the shore when Yami exited the house. Yugi slowly crept up next the water and dipped half of his foot in. A sensation of happiness swept over his entire body. He looked over towards Yami and motioned for the taller boy to get in. Yami nodded as he flipped off his shoes and gently took off his shirt. He looked over to Yugi who had taken his small white shirt off and already entered the water wearing nothing but his white shorts. Since Yugi had become human, he had refused to wear anything but white. Strange as it was, no one questioned it. Yami then proceeded to get in the water, which was extremely cold. When the water got to his stomach, he just couldn't go in any further.
“Come on, Yami!” Yugi shouted.
“I can't. It's too cold!” Yami said.
Yugi just rolled his eyes and swam up to Yami.
“If you don't get in, then I'll splash you,” Yugi warned.
“You wouldn't dare” Yami said as he gave Yugi a look that said if he did then he was definitely in for it.
“O really?” Yugi said playfully. Suddenly Yugi closed his eyes and looked the other way as he took out both of his hands and placed them in front of him before wildly splashing Yami non-stop for about a minute. When he glanced back at where Yami was standing, he was quite surprise to see no one. He looked around himself quickly but still could not find the older boy.
“Gotcha!” Yami yelled as he pounced out of the water and dunked Yugi's head into the water. Yugi, after a few seconds, managed to escape and came up right between Yami's arms. Both Yugi and Yami laughed. There was no place that either of them would want to be. After they had settled down, Yugi smiled at Yami and then embraced him. Yami blinked for a few seconds before realizing what was going on.
“Thank you” Yugi said.
“For what?” Yami asked.
“Everything.”
Yami smiled brightly before wrapping his arms around Yugi. Memories from the first night they met entered his mind. He remembered when he first heard Yugi's voice, when they first introduced each other, when they first kissed. He shook his head and pushed away those memories into the back of his mind.
“Yami?” Yugi's voice piped in.
Yami looked down to the boy in his arms.
“Yes hikari?”
“What about your meeting?”
Sudden realization hit Yami…hard. “O shit!” Yami yelled as he ran out of the water dragging a giggling Yugi behind him.
…In the Dining Hall…
“Seto, where is Yami? We need to start” a man dressed in a black suit said. He was one in about a dozen men dressed in a black suit that sat at the large wooden table
“I assure you, Benjamin. Yami will be here momentarily,” Seto said through clenched teeth. “Jou” Seto called out. Jou appeared from the kitchen.
“Yes Master Kaiba?” Jou said with a smile on his face. It took every single amount of strength in his body to keep that smile plastered on his face.
Seto smiled. “Go fetch my guests some water.”
Jou nodded and bowed before exiting the room. He soon reappeared with a tray in his hand, which held several glasses of water. As he passed out the water, he heard someone make a comment about how Seto had benefited their company so much, while Yami on the other hand was just a slacker. Jou couldn't help but snicker.
“Jou” Seto said, “Do you have something to say?”
All eyes turned to Jou as he just smiled.
“O no Master Kaiba. I was just listening to these men say how you are truly a great ass—“ Jou held up his finger as he gulped down a glass of water that he held in his hand and then resumed on talking “—set to their company.”
Seto turned bright red and opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by a large bang. He, along with everyone in the room, looked at Yami who had just entered the room and who also had soaking wet hair.
“Yami, glad you could join us” Seto said.
“Sorry everyone” he said as he took his seat “There was a problem with the pluming.”
Seto just shook his head as he turned his attention back to Jou.
“That will be all…for now” Seto said as he waved his hand at Jou to go away.
Jou just mumbled and cursed under his breath as he left the room. Seto, now that everyone was here, began the meeting.
