...Here Comes The Bride...
Servants and maids sat restlessly in the hard, comfortable, small, white chairs. There were only about twenty of them and no one of them wanted to be there. But they had to if they wanted to keep their jobs. It was a nice setting, however. There was a small white arch that stood in front of them all that was lined with beautiful white roses. It was about four o'clock and the sun was setting in the sky leaving traces of midnight purple and furious pink in the clouds. There was a small gentle breeze that was radiating off of the ocean besides them so it was neither too hot nor too sunny. No, it was just right. It was perfect. It was the perfect wedding. The wedding that Yugi wanted to claim as his so desperately. The husband that Yugi wanted to call his so earnestly.
“Yugi?” came a quiet voice. Yugi turned around and redirected his view from the large widow that he was peering out of to the petite boy that had just entered the room.
“Hi Ryou” Yugi said softly. Ryou walked up to where Yugi was and looked out of the large windows. He heard Yugi sigh sadly and then turned around to face the amethyst eyes.
“Yugi, this will work. I can feel it” Ryou said with confidence. Yugi just nodded as he continued to gaze out of the window hopelessly. Ryou looked down at the ground and whispered: “You two are meant to be. If he loves you then no spell can change that. You just have to help him break it. All he needs is to feel your love again. Just one kiss—“
“What happens if it doesn't work?” Yugi said keeping his intense stare on the ocean outside. Ryou hesitated.
“It will Yugi” Ryou tried again but he felt like he could not persuade the smaller of the two. Ryou exhaled deeply before he began to walk back towards the door. When he had reached it, he turned around for a moment and said: “We'll be heading down there in a few minutes. I'll meet you in the living room…Yugi?” The said boy turned his head to look at the albino before Ryou continued. “You need to have faith in him. He loves you…He would believe in you.”
And with that, Ryou was gone. Yugi stared at the door for a while but eventually he returned his eyes back to the ocean. The waves were crashing into the shore gently. Yugi listened to the song that the water played for him. The melody of the sea. And he, the prince of the sea, hummed along. The sea was his source of energy. His source of hope. And with every passing minute, he listened more intently to the words of the song.
Go find him…
Yugi opened his eyes when he heard those words echo throughout his head. He knew at this point that the others were right. It was fate, it was destiny. Yami and him were in love. We were meant to be…end of story.
Yugi walked away from the table and approached his bed. He stared down at the small white dress and veil that resembled Anzu's current attire tremendously. He didn't like the whole dress idea but he didn't have much of a choice. Dignity or Love? That might have not been an easy choice for another guy but for him…it was easy. He swiftly undressed and changed as fast as he possible could.
...
Ryou walked down the long hallway with his hands dug deep into his pockets. He wished he could cheer up his friend but it seemed almost impossible. Of course he could only imagine what Yugi was going throgh. To have the person you love taken away from you like that...it must be hard to deal with. Inbearable. Ouch!
Ryou fell back on the floor when he walked right into someone's hard body. That's what he gets for not watching where he's going right?
"You shouldn't be staring at the floor when your walking" Bakura said simply. Ryou lifted his back off from the floor and sat upright on the carpeted floor. He stared at Bakura with dull eyes.
"Sorry. I was just thinking" Ryou said from his spot on the floor.
"Oh?" Bakura said as he reached out a hand for Ryou to grab, which the boy took gratefully. When Ryou got to his feet, he smiled: "Thank you."
Bakura just nodded. After that, it got awkwardly quiet but neither one of them could walk away from where they stood. After about a minute, Bakura had decided that he didn't like the annoying feeling that was creeping down his spine due to the awkwardness of the situation so he made a step to move but when he felt warm lips on his own, he stopped dead in his tracks. 'What the fuck?' It took Bakura a few seconds to snap out of his daze and he soon realized that Ryou was kissing him. Before Bakura could respond in any way, Ryou stood back with a dark red tint covering his cheeks. Bakura heard Ryou mutter something under his breath but couldn't quite understand what he had said and didn't have an opportunity to ask since the boy has vanished in about five seconds. Bakura didn't follow him. He could have caught up to Ryou with ease and he could have killed him without a problem as well. And he should have for what the boy had just pulled...but he didn't. He couldn't. And it angered him more than anything. As much as he wanted to deny it, his heart had skipped a beat when those soft lips had pressed themselves against his. Wait...soft lips. Bakura slapped himself on the head.
"What the fuck am I thinking!?" Bakura yelled to himself. He turned around quickly when he heard someone behind him laughing.
"Oh great! What did you do this time?" Marik said with a smirk.
Bakura raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Marik shrugged: "Well you only slap yourself when you've done something stupid."
Bakura growled: "It's not what I've done, it's what I thought."
Marik tilted his head and it looked like the Egyptian was thinking. After a moment, a small smile came to his lips.
"Is this about Ryou?" Marik said with an amused tone.
Bakura glared. "Why would this be about him?"
Marik once again shrugged. "I don't know. I was just asking." Marik began to walk away at a slow pace since he knew that it would take a few seconds for Bakura to confide in him.
"Wait" Marik heard from behind him.
"Yes?" the blonde said innocently. Bakura kept his gaze on Marik.
"Well...I don't know...Ryou kissed me" Bakura said hesitantly.
Marik was always good at not showing what he was feeling but it was obvious to anyone who saw him that he was in absolute shock. Never in his life had he heard Bakura's vioce come out in the way that it just did. It was filled with confusion and...and something else that Marik could not quite pinpoint. Marik shoock his head slowly before responding.
"So? You didn't like it?" Marik asked curiously.
Bakura looked like he thought carefully about his answer before he spoke: "No, that's just it. I think...I think I did like it."
Marik looked even more dumbstruck then he did only a few moments ago. He put his hands up to emphasize his next words: "Wait, wait, wait. What are you trying to tell me?"
Bakura looked down at the ground and then back at Marik. "Nothing. It's nothing. It was just a kiss. That's it. It meant nothing to me" Bakura said as though he was trying to convince himself more than he was trying to convince Marik.
Marik raised his hands even higher in defense. "Okay, okay." Marik said and he watched as Bakura pivoted on his heel and walked the other way. When Bakura was out of sight, Marik rubbed his temples. He was slightly startled when someone walked up besides him and spoke to him but, of course, he didn't show it.
"That was interesting..." Malik said thoughtfully.
Marik turned to face Malik with a smile. "Well, look who crawled out of the sea. Don't you have some humans to insult?"
Surprisingly, Malik didn't punch him in the face like he usually would anyone who talked to him in the manner that Marik did. He just smiled.
"Don't you have some hair gel to go find? I'm afriad your hair might eat me" Malik said in an amused tone.
Marik glared but he still had a smile playing on his lips. "What's interesting?" Marik asked refering to Malik's first statement.
"Ryou kissing Bakura" Malik said. "Ryou wouldn't do that."
"Well, apparantly he did" Marik said. Malik nodded and then turned to walk away. "I'm going to go find Ryou."
Malik didn't hesitate to leave and when he began walking away, Marik watched Malik's graceful movement. He had never realized how beautiful the othe Egyptian was. His strong build, his perfectly tan skin, his smooth blonde hair. Marik snapped his head away though when he heard Malik's voice.
"Take a picture. I'll last longer" Malik said humorously.
Marik laughed. "I wasn't looking at you."
Malik didn't look convinced. "Whatever" Malik said before turning the corner. Marik smiled after the boy. Malik was surprisely not his bitchy self and Marik actually liked this playful side of him. Marik looked down at the small watch on his wrist. Marik then remebered his whole purpose for coming down this way. Seto had instructed him to bring Yugi to the living room so that they could prepare for everything that was suppose to take place later that evening. The wedding would begin soon so he walked up to Yugi's bedroom door and knocked.
"Yugi, Seto wants us in the living room. Now" Marik called out. There was no response and for a second, Marik was filled with fear. If anything happened to Yugi then Seto would have his head. He was relieved of his fears however when the door was opened. The image that stood before him made Marik want to say 'aww' but if he did then he would have to kill himself.
"Don't you look nice?" Marik said instead. Yugi smiled in response. Yugi was currently in a small white dress that covered his feet and left a trail behind him. He wore a veil but at the moment had it behind his head instead of in his face. Yugi's eyes shimmered with hope and his face was as bright as can be. Basically even though he was a guy in a dress, he truly did look radiant.
"I must say," Marik said. "You must love Yami very much if you're willing to do all of this" Marik said motioning towards Yugi's attire, "for him."
Yugi nodded. "I do love him. With all my heart."
Marik smiled and they began to walk towards the living room. Marik was actually unusually nice to Yugi. He didn't know why exactly. Yugi was just so nice. It was really hard to be rude to him and Ryou and a lot easier to be mean to everybody else, even Malik and Jou. Bakura, however, was just mean to everyone so that's why it shocked him so much when Bakura seemed to be affected by Ryou so much.
Marik and Yugi continued to walk down the hall until they reached a large door. Marik went slightly in front of Yugi and opened the door for him so that he could get in without worrying about the back of the dress. When Yugi walked in, he heard a someone gasp.
"Yuge, you look...incredible" Jou said in shock from his spot on the couch.
Seto looked up from the table and nodded. "I knew you could pull it off. No many guys can wear dresses and look good."
Yugi smiled. "Thanks...I think..."
...
Ryou was currently sitting on the bathroom floor. After he had kissed Bakura, he ran straight there and he hasn't moved from that spot for the past ten minutes. How dumb could he be? He wanted to die. He was so ashamed. How could he ever face Bakura again? He probably hates him anyways. Ryou had no idea what came over him. He didn't even know what he did until after he did it. He had absolutely no control of himself. When he had first saw Bakura, when he walked into they boy, he was thinking about Yugi. About what he had just finished telling Yugi. That one kiss could do anything. Is that why he kissed Bakura? Because he wanted to see if he had a true connection with him? Well, if that was the reason then it worked. Ryou felt extremely different about Bakura now then he first did on their first encounter with each other. Ryou felt more of a connection with Bakura now than he ever did about anyone else. But it didn't matter. Bakura would never feel the same way, especially now that he had just pulled a stunt like that. Oh, he wanted to die. The agony was eating him alive. He jumped when someone knocked on the door but didn't respond in hopes that the person would just go away.
"Ryou?"
Ryou mentally cursed. He breathed in and out a few times before answering so that hopefully the stress and despair in his voice couldn't be detected.
"Yes Malik?" Ryou said calmly.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll meet you in the living room with the others in a moment" Ryou said, hoping that the other one would go away. It didn't work though.
"I wanted to talk to you first" Malik said.
Why did Ra hate him so much, Ryou thought as he got to his feet and unlocked the bathroom door. He opened the door to be faced with a very concerned-looking Malik.
"What did you want to talk about?" Ryou said, trying to make it seem like he was perfectly fine.
Malik tilted his head. "I heard about what happened."
Ryou's face expression completely changed. Now he looked like he was in total dismay. "How?" was all Ryou was able to muster.
"I overheard Bakura telling Marik" Malik said quietly.
Ryou thew his hands up in the air. "Great! Now everyone's going to know and I am never going to be able to face anyone ever again!" Ryou tried to slam the door shut but was stopped by Malik's hand.
"Wait, Ryou!" Malik said as he pushed himself inside. When he got his entire body into the bathroom, he turned to face Ryou with a stern face.
"Now listen!-"
"Why?! I'm so stupid! I'm-"
Malik clapped his hand over Ryou's mouth. "I said listen!"
Ryou didn't move. "Are you going to listen now?" Malik said and Ryou nodded up and down.
"Okay" Malik said as he removed his hand from Ryou's mouth slowly. "Now, I know that you feel like you just made the biggest mistake of your life but I don't think that your the only one who feels so confused."
Ryou looked puzzled. "What do you mean?"
"Well, I think Bakura likes y-"
Knock! Knock!
Malik growled. "What?" he spat out.
"Everyone waiting for you two!" Jou said through the door. "And I won't even ask what you two are doing in there!" Jou added with amusement.
"Shut up!" Malik said as he opened the door.
"Come on! Let's go" Jou said as he dragged the other two out of the bathroom.
Malik turned to face Ryou and whispered: "We'll talk later."
Ryou just nodded and followed the blonde to the room where he would most likely be faced with someone that he definitely didn't want to see right now.
...
At this moment, everyone who mattered was in the living room. Seto had just finished explaining everyone's role in the events that were about to occur. So now all eyes were on Bakura and Marik, except for Ryou's of course. Since Ryou had walked into the room and saw Bakura, he kept his eyes focused on the ground.
"Ready?" Seto said.
Both Bakura and Marik nodded and Seto motioned them to leave. Ryou could sense Bakura's eyes on him, like he did ever since he had entered the room and he didn't look up until he heard the door open and Bakura and Marik walk out.
"We have no time to waste. Let's go" Seto said and everybody stood up and exited the room. Jou and Seto stayed in front of Yugi since it was there job to keep him out of sight until it was time. Ryou and Malik left together as well. It was now time. Time to get Yami back.
