Chapter 8

Take Your Chance

--------

It took a whole month for the Kaiba brothers to adjust that their second father was permanently staying with them and in Seto's room nonetheless. There were moments with Joey that caught everyone by surprise. The second day he was staying with them in the mansion, he had absently grabbed Jeto's ears and gently tweaked them, causing the teen to giggle hysterically. Seto was in the same room at the time and couldn't help but laugh. It was a picture perfect memory.

The third day was just as special. Joey wanted to take Destin to the Kame Game Shop to buy him some new cards. However, he never realized that Seto had given him all the cards he'd ever need for dueling. Destin didn't argue with him though. When they arrived at the shop, Joey was astounded to see Raphael behind the counter instead of Solomon Moto. The tall man and Joey had gotten into a conversation as Destin wondered off, exploring the shop farther than he needed to. He had found himself in the living quarters of the Moto's home and came across a child's bedroom. He had never met any other children his age, considering he always had home schooling. In the room, he met Raphael and Yugi's son, Sugoroku (1). Destin was astounded by the other's room, because he had never seen another pre-teen's space before. Dark Magician posters covered the walls and doors. Two of them slightly bit disturbing for a mere child to witness. Destin asked Sugoroku about it, but the other just laughed and changed the subject about some new duel monsters coming out. It worked. The small Kaiba would never pass up a conversation about the new monster cards.

It took a while for Joey to register that Destin was gone, but Raphael and he had eventually found him in Sugoroku's room playing duel monsters.

Destin kept apologizing, but Joey didn't mind.

Seto found out, but only laughed and explained that it was Joey's third day to be father.

Joey couldn't argue with that.

The fourth day couldn't have been even better. Seto had gone to work, Jeto was hanging out with friends, and Destin was at Sugoroku's house. Only Aurora and Joey had the house to themselves. Of course, no one said it was safe to leave either of them alone together either. They ended up cooking lunch, which they left the kitchen in a mess and the maids disgruntled. They watched movies, ate popcorn, the popcorn getting everywhere on the floor and in between the cushions, which gave the maids even more to clean up. At the end of the day, they just sat on the porch swing, watched the sunset, and shared conversations with each other. Nope, it couldn't have been any better. Joey was possibly getting a hang of being a good father.

On the fifth day, Seto relieved Joey from his duties of fatherhood, much to Joey's disapproval.

"But…I want to be with them, Seto. It's only been five days. I'm not tired yet. Is that what you're worried about?" Joey asked as he grabbed Seto's arms, ready to break down and cry if he needed to. Joey noted how much the taller the man was, which was somewhat scary for him since he was only 5'10.

"No, that's not it my love. I just want you to spend some time with the others. They've missed you," Seto suggested.

"You mean my sister, Yugi, Tristan, Mai, Téa, and Duke?" Joey scoffed. "They went nineteen years without seeing. What are another few days?"

Seto chuckled. "Actually, Téa and Mai left for New York, so you won't have to worry about them."

"That's good," Joey sincerely stated. "I knew those girls had something for each other. However, that's not the point." He tightened his grip on Seto's arms. "Please, let me stay!"

Seto gripped Joey's arms from underneath since his small lover had a hold of his upper arms. "Joey! You're acting childish." He released Joey from his grip and pushed pass him, a bit irritated. The blonde teen's words suddenly caught him by surprise.

"It turns you on, and you know it," Joey murmured as he crossed his arms over his chest.

The CEO smirked as he turned and gripped Joey's chin between his thumb and index finger. "I'm not a pedophile, but I'll make an exception for you."

Joey giggled as he stole a kiss from the man. "I still don't want to go."

"Too bad," Seto snorted. He looked over Joey's shoulder to peer outside and see the limousine pull up. "They're taking you to see Yugi at work."

"…" Joey sighed and nodded. "Fine, I'll go see them." He turned toward the door and just about opened it when Destin ran downstairs and tightly clasped him around his waist. "Where are you goin' dad?"

Joey rested his hand over Destin's right shoulder. "I'm going to visit some friends. I'll be back later, k?"

Destin looked up at this dad's face and then his father's, searching for any sham.

Seto smiled down at his son and ruffled his blonde hair.

Destin giggled as he backed away from Joey and nodded. "Okay, dad. When you get back you can play video games with me!"

Joey nodded. "You bet kiddo!" He walked out and left the door open for Destin and Seto to watch him.

The CEO held his son's shoulders and smiled weakly as he watched Joey get into the limousine and then pull away from the driveway.

"Don't worry, father. Dad will be safe with Bakura," Destin reassured.

Seto gazed at his son surprisingly. "Heh, I knew that." He ushered his son back into the house and gently slapped his behind.

^0^0^

Right after Joey had left, Jeto had follow pursuit, except by going to the city park. There wasn't anything to do at home except playing duel monsters with Destin, but he had no idea had to play the game and he was tired of losing.

He avoided walking in the well-lit streets where he could be open to any monsters from the sky. Walking in the allies was a hassle as well. Recently there were stories on the news about new monsters attacking in the shadows, but not the duel monsters. There were evidences of some kind of animal fur and cloth from modern clothes. You would think the Shadow Ghoul would attack, but surprisingly, it leaves the humans alone. It only attacks weaker monsters, unlike the dragons and beasts, which find human flesh quite delectable now and days. However, there were reports that beasts lived mainly in the well-forested areas, which luckily weren't near the cities. The dragons stayed in the mountains for a certain amount of time until they were hungry and flew to a city where it could reach its prey easier than in the forest.

Jeto took refuge on a bench under the shaded trees, where he hoped no dragon could sight him. He leaned his head back, staring up into speckles of sunlight glistening through the leaves. He closed his eyes, allowing his skin to suck up the autumn warmth. Not a moment sooner did he hear an oddly familiar voice talking to someone just behind the bushes. The accent resembled his older brother's, Aurora. He hunched forward, giving a deep sigh. "No matter where I go, I can never get rid of him." Jeto stood up and decided to find the `so called' brother of his and ask why Aurora never left him alone.

The teen stepped out of the bushes and stared perplexed at the empty area, with the exception of two young men standing just a few meters away. He gazed at the strangers for a moment and noticed that one had long, auburn hair down to his behind. This stranger wore nothing but black leather with red straps around his upper arms. Jeto noted the faint, pink belly shirt hidden under the short leather jacket that fell just below his chest. The other man wore an aqua t-shirt and white jeans. He had his dark brown hair slicked back and falling just below his earlobes. He had two long side burns that dangled down to his shoulders. However, he wasn't the one that caught Jeto's attention. It was the auburn stranger. He bared a resemblance to Aurora, only revised.

The dark haired stranger nodded to his companion and walked away with a small laugh. Now, it was just the stranger and Jeto.

Jeto took a deep breath and out from now where said his brother's name, quietly but firmly. "Aurora?" He knew full well that it couldn't be his brother, but he wanted to test the results of the other's response.

The man visibly stiffened and turned his head slightly to peer over his shoulder at Jeto. The shadows concealed his eyes, shunning any possibility to see his whole face. The stranger had neatly cut bangs straight across his forehead and had sideburns that hung like short curtain tassels. He looked nothing like Aurora in veracity. He lifted his head more into the faint sunlight, revealing his yellow green eyes. He smirked and lifted his hand in a greeting gesture. "Hey," he coolly stated.

Jeto's breath got caught from somewhere between his lungs and throat. The man had eyes like his father, except they weren't blue. They were piercing yet gentle, unyielding yet understanding. Everything his father was. What the hell was going on? Jeto gapped like a fish out of water as he pointed at the freaky, father look alike. "W-who are you?"

The stranger chuckled. "It's not polite to point." He approached Jeto smoothly and reached out to lower the teen's arm.

Jeto blushed from the man's touch and stared down at the seemingly interesting grass that resembled the man's eyes.

"You know? It's more polite to introduce yourself first, and then ask the other's name," the man smirked.

"…I-I'm….Jeto," the teen stuttered. "Who…are you?"

The stranger smiled warmly and replied, "Well, I'm Tet. It's very nice to meet you, Jeto." He grabbed Jeto's hand and faintly pressed his moist lips against the pale skin. "I've never met such a beautiful neko such as yourself."

Jeto panted slightly. He really wished this man would stop taking his breath away. "I-it's nice…to meet you…too," he choked.

"Who is this, `Aurora'?" Tet asked as he straightened himself after releasing Jeto's hand. "It sounds familiar."

"…he's my brother. You…resembled him from behind. I'm sorry," Jeto apologized sincerely.

Tet shook his head. "Don't worry about it. What's his last name?"

"…Kaiba," Jeto replied.

Tet's eyes suddenly narrowed in deep thought. He knew that name very well. His father always mentioned a Seto Kaiba being his birth father and having a twin that lived with Seto. However, his father never did mention much about either of them. He never noticed Jeto looking up at him with a worried expression.

"Uh…did I say something wrong?"

Tet blinked, realizing that he had left the real world to contemplate. "Hm? No, of course not. I was trying to think if I heard of that name before. I thought I might have known it from school," he lied. Tet never went to school. Much like Jeto and his siblings, Tet had home schooling. He grinned at the teen. "You know it's not safe out here for someone like you. A dragon would take any chance to pick a pretty thing off the streets."

A frustrated blush crossed the bridge of Jeto's nose and cheeks. "I can take care of myself, thank you." He turned away with a pout.

Tet's grin lowered to a smile. "Awe! Come one now. I thought you would take that as a compliment and let me walk ya home."

"You're gay, aren't you?" Jeto asked bluntly.

The man smirked. "Why, yes, I am."

"That's why I don't consider it a compliment and also why I'm not letting you walk me home!" Jeto growled and started hiking back toward the Kaiba manor.

Tet was actually flustered for once. He had ever been steered wrong by someone being gay or straight. He had actually thought this teen had a possibility of being bi. On the other hand, Jeto just might need to be steered in the right direction. He chased after the teen and stood in front of him. "Hey, I'm sorry. I just thought…"

"Well you thought wrong. Now, if you excuse me." Jeto pushed passed Tet, stuffing his hands into his pant pockets. "What a pervert," he grumbled below his breath.

Tet chuckled and hollered at him. "Hey, kid! How about having lunch with me?"

"The name's not kid! It's Jeto! And, in your dreams!" Jeto responded irritably.

Sisco: Awe! That's so cute! Someone wants to date Jeto!

Seto: No way! No one is dating my son until he's forty.

Sisco: <_< Don't be such a stick in the mud.

Seto: >:-P

Sisco: Oh yeah! Sugoroku (1) Well, I wanted to use Solomon, and then thought of his Japanese name. I thought, hey, I'll role with that. Yeah, I'm just a bit out of it today. All I had was Dr. Pepper. O_o;;
