Maybe Then, but Not Now

A/N: -rereads author notes in other entries- Ooooh! I was wondering why everyone was wishing me a happy birthday! XD That's kind of funny. Okay, I'll explain. I was just saying that because I was feeling all big and bad like it was my birthday. LOL! I'm sorry to confuzzle you people. -hugs you all- However, you're all the greatest and thank you!! n.n

-sighs- I've been debating all day if I should update this before midnight…and I have. The reason is because my dad is going to be on tomorrow and Sunday. I won't be able to get on for two days. -depressed- T.T So, here it is…until Monday at least. O.o;

Tet didn't expect to spend his lunch hour like this; questioned for something the detective suspected he was involved. He just wanted to spend his hour with Jeto, maybe get a little intimate with the teen while in his room with the door closed. However, how could he do that now when the kid was missing? He slouched against the back of the sofa and crossed his hands over his stomach in boredom.

Seto sat on his son's left, his elbow rested against the arm of the sofa and chin rested on the heel of his hand. He was obviously contemplating on something.

Joey sat in the armchair with Destin in his arms and watching Tristan with annoyance. He didn't expect his old friend to be so assertive with the twin Kaiba.

“How long did you know Jeto?” Tristan asked.

Tet sighed in defeat. “I've only known him for three days.”

Tristan nodded. “You said you're a Chimera Slayer. Does that mean you can track down any chimera with ease?”

“I'd like to think I can,” Tet smirked. “Why?”

“I may be able to use you,” Tristan responded curtly.

Seto dragged himself away from his thoughts by the mere mention of Tet helping the detective. “Tristan, no! If he helps you that puts him in risk of danger…more than what he already is in.”

Tet smiled at his father's concern and then sneered. “I'm not dead yet am I? Please, dad! I've been in greater danger than this…” He cut himself off, forgetting whom he was talking to.

The CEO stared at his son sternly. “Greater danger than this? What the hell is the matter with you? Are you trying to destroy yourself before you even begin a life of your own?”

Joey quietly smirked. It was definitely one side of Seto that he had never seen before.

Tristan listened with amusement. “Um…Seto. He's just going to track down your other son. He won't have to barge in. I'll have back up there when we find him.”

“Is that all he's going to do?” Seto asked with anticipation.

The detective nodded. “Yes, that's all; nothing more.”

Tet grunted. “Damnit! I was hoping to kick some ass to get this frustration out.”

Joey, Destin, and Tristan laughed at the teen's statement. Seto just glowered.

“By the way,” Tristan started. “Didn't you say you had two other children?”

Seto nodded once in Taylor's direction.

Tristan just happened to notice that Aurora wasn't in the room with them. “Then where is the other one at? Is he in the bathroom or something?”

There was a soft squeak in Joey's direction from the small boy in his arms.

Joey peered down at the pre-teen and blinked. “What was that for, Destin? Do you know something that we don't?”

Destin remained absolutely still like a mouse cornered in a lion's cage. “I…have no earthly idea…where he is,” he lied. He stared down at the floor, thinking it was more interesting.

Seto stood up from the sofa and approached his youngest son. “Destin, where is Aurora? If you don't tell me, I'm going to use that holy paddle that Bast got me for Christmas.” He was obviously grinning ear to ear, just to show he meant business.

Joey flinched to the sight of his lover's sinister grin. He couldn't have possibly meant what he said. Holy paddles struck like lightening, if not worse. Joey remembered the last time the principle used that damned instrument on him when he was in school. It was like all of hell froze over when that flat end struck his behind. At first, it sent cold shivers rushing up his spine and then there was the after feeling of that red throb beating like Rudolph's nose against his skin. It took all of his energy not to shed a single tear, including when he tried to sit. However, it was priceless when his father found out and made sure hell was burning like an inferno again. /Yeah, those were the days. / Joey laughed mentally.

Destin tried to curl up into Joey's body after hearing `holy paddle' from his father's mouth. The man hadn't used it on him yet, but there was always a first time. “He made me promise though,” the boy whimpered. “You've always told me to never break a promise.”

“Yes, but that's if your ass isn't on the line,” Seto reminded.

The young Kaiba bit his bottom lip in consideration. The man did have a point. “He's…out looking for Jeto.”

Seto frowned deeply. “Destin, that's not something you should hide from us. Your brother is in danger.”

“I…I'm sorry…” Destin looked away from his father and wiped away the tears settling into his eyes. “I didn't know.”

The CEO's face softened as he reached forward and stroked his son's hair. “It's okay. It wasn't your fault.” He sighed heavily as he approached the front door.

“Where are you going?” Tristan asked as he stood to follow.

“I'm going to look for Aurora,” Seto replied strongly.

Tristan grabbed the taller man's shoulder, holding him in place. “You should let the police handle that.”

“To hell with the police!” Seto exclaimed, shrugging the detective's hand off. He headed toward the driveway, calling out for Bast.

Bast walked out from behind the garage while wiping his hands from some plant soil. “Yeah?”

“Get the Hummer ready. We're going out to get Aurora.”

Bast noted the man's anxious tone and hurried into the garage to ready the vehicle. There was a heavy sound of squalling as a large, black Hummer drove out into the street and parked in front of Seto.

Tristan, Joey, Tet, and Destin piled out of the house to watch the CEO climb into the overly large vehicle on the passenger side.

Tet quickly ran to the truck before it left. “I'm coming with you, dad!”

Seto stared at his son for a moment as the teen opened the back door and slid in, followed by Tristan. He blinked questionably.

“Hey, I'm just doing my job,” Tristan snapped.

The CEO sighed and flicked his wrist at Bast. “Let's go.”

Joey and Destin waved at them as they hurriedly pulled away.

“I hope they find him,” Destin whispered.

“Don't worry, Destin. They'll find your brothers and bring them back safely,” Joey reassured.

Destin smiled at his dad and then frowned sorrowfully.

“Do you want to go to Yugi's for a while to play with Sugoroku?” Joey asked considerately.

There was a slight nod from the pre-teen and both started toward the game shop.

;;..;;..;;

“He's not coming,” Jeto murmured. “Why would he? He doesn't know me that well to even care.”

Osiris impatiently growled at the hanging captive on the wall. “Yes, he will! I know Tet like the back of my hand. I've observed him since the day he slaughtered my first accomplice. He knows you well enough that he'll rescue you. I guess I should say he's fallen for you.”

“Would you stop it!?” Jeto exclaimed. “He knows I'm not gay!”

“No! You stop it!” Osiris roared. “Denying that you're not gay isn't going to stop the fact that he's in love with you and that he won't stop until you love him as well.”

Jeto watched the lion's pupils narrow to almost nothing from the anger radiating throughout his blood. He looked away from his captor, falling silent. He knew Osiris was telling the truth. He knew it the first day he met Tet and that there was a strong connection between them. It was that little voice deep inside that told him to contradict it, and he did at some point. However, now that Osiris was here, it just kept provoking him, wanting him to see the true light that he was walking away from this whole time.

“Why am I discussing this with you, you little wretch?” Osiris growled. “I only captured you to draw the prey to me, not to argue whether you're gay or not. It doesn't matter, because when this all ends, you're mine.” He grabbed Jeto's chin and kissed him softly against the lips. “You don't deserve a man like him.”

Somehow, or rather, Jeto had completely ignored him. He allowed his head to drop against his chest when Osiris released his chin.

Osiris started back toward his cove when a bright flash flew past him. He stood stalk still gazing in the direction the flash had come from. A young man with long, brunet hair stood at the entrance of the hidden alleyway. “Well, who's this pretty boy?”

“Release my brother at once!” Aurora demanded.

Jeto blinked. Was he hearing things? He slowly lifted his head, wanting to make sure; when he looked up that, he wasn't dreaming. It was the voice that bothered him to no end, but now was a welcomed resonance. “Aurora!” Jeto exclaimed happily, tears falling to the ground. He lunged forward, wanting more than anything to hug his older brother, but the rattling chains reminded him of why he couldn't.

Aurora smiled weakly at his half-brother. He could feel the salty water tugging at the corners of his eyes, but he couldn't wipe them away with the captor standing no more than ten feet away from him, and not unless he wanted his organs served on a silver platter.

“What is this?” Osiris growled, the lion chimera reawakening from within him. “I didn't ask for a sibling rescue!” He took a step toward Aurora, his tail unraveling from around his waist.

“I guess you didn't know,” Aurora smirked. “Either way you look at it, it would have been a sibling rescue.”

Jeto stared at his brother with confusion. “What are you talking about? It's not like Destin could have come to rescue me.”

The longhaired teen shook his head gravely. “No, it's Tet. Tet is…your brother as well. Actually, your half-brother.”

“I don't understand,” Jeto mumbled. “How can that be?”

“Ask father yourself,” the brunet smirked. Aurora pointed something at Osiris as he took another step. It was a weapon that he had used just a little bit ago to startle the lion. “Don't come any closer!”

Osiris paused, growling even louder. “What is that?”

Aurora smiled with confidence. “You don't know?” He relaxed his muscles slightly as if prepared to take on the lion with only his hands. “I figured since you were a chimera you've seen one of these before. It's called a Light Gesture. It kills any and all chimeras…with just one shot.” He slightly pressed his finger against the trigger. “You want to test it?”

“Where did you get that?” Osiris roared. His chimera form was becoming more visible with each pint of anger and fear broiling in his blood.

“I got it from Tet's coat while he wasn't looking.” Aurora shrugged as if it wasn't anything he hadn't done before.

Osiris suddenly grinned. “Well, you can't kill me if I move fast enough.”

That's when the other's blood stopped flowing. He wasn't expecting the chimera to learn the advantage points of the weapon so quickly. The weapon only worked at close combat or if the chimera wasn't expecting it. “Try me,” Aurora stated, acting as if he wasn't unfazed by the lion's words, actually, he was scared shitless.

Jeto watched with horror as the lion started to approach his brother once again, but without stopping this time. “No! Stop, leave him alone!” The first time he looked, Osiris was still human, but at second glance, he was now a full chimera with snarling teeth and ripping claws.

Aurora only blinked once before the chimera was right on top of him. “Wha-?”

The chimera laughed as he drove his claw into Aurora's stomach and out his back, splattering blood onto the pavement and brick walls.

Jeto shook his head in fear and grief. “Aurora? Aurora? No…he can't…be dead…AURORA!!”
