It seemed that wanting and getting were two different things. He had never expected to see the boy again. He had efficiently wiped him from his memory. Only now, the boy was back with a vengeance. A never dimming presence in his mind. Pegasus could still work and function normally, but his thoughts and his fantasies always came back to the enigmatic Seto Kaiba, or now lovingly dubbed Kaiba-boy. Or more importantly, his thoughts centered on getting said boy.
He wanted to do this right, but he couldn't figure out the best to romance the boy. He wanted to do it properly. Flowers and candy and corny poems read outside his window; those were all laughable at best. He had a feeling Kaiba-boy wasn't much for flowers. He'd probably give the candy to his younger brother. And Pegasus knew he couldn't write decent poetry if he tried. Buying the youth expensive gifts was out as well. The teen was the proud owner of the most powerful, most lucrative technology corporation in the world. Flashy gifts would mean absolutely nothing to the world's richest teenager.
He couldn't go to the boy's house and sweep him off his feet either. Pegasus had already been shown the door to that particular house once. That was not an experience he wished to repeat. Ever. Chance encounters were right out as well. There would be no chance for accidental meetings. He knew, because Pegasus had done his homework. Kaiba-boy was either at school, the afore mentioned house, or locked up in his office. Rarely, he was spotted in the outside world, and only to go to a local game shop. Probably to beef up an already unstoppable blitzkrieg style deck. He couldn't just pop up and claim to have been in the neighborhood. Seto Kaiba would just laugh in his face if he did that.
But Pegasus had learned a great number of things from watching his angel. He had started for research only. To see what kind of competition he might have. He needed to know if anyone else had already staked a claim on his Seto. In the process, see if he could find a chink in that impenetrable armor Seto put around himself.
Watching the boy became downright depressive sometimes. The was no love in the boy's life. None at all. At school he was ignored and avoided. He was always alone, just sitting on the outskirts of any important matter. Only time a student would confront the boy was to either ask a favor or to try and beat him or his little brother up. Seto dealt with both swiftly and coldly. And that was just school.
Work wasn't any better. The boy spent three fourths of his time locked alone with his machines. Sometimes, he would disappear into his company confines for days on end. That cleared up the mystery of where Kaiba Corp got all their technology. Any advance they had made in the past couple years had been Seto's doing. It seemed his angel had been that brilliant mind Pegasus had always assumed to be hidden away.
He did find two things that Seto cared for. Only two, and both were hard to get at for obvious reasons. Seto's weaknesses centered around Mokuba and Duel Monsters. Kaiba-boy would do anything for his little brother. Anything at all. He practically spoiled the kid rotten. Only when he was alone together with his little brother did Seto's shields come down. Though the shields were down, the ice never melted.
Pegasus couldn't hit Kaiba there. He wanted to own the boy's heart, not break it. Which left one alternative. Seto's other passion. The game Pegasus had re-invented. The boy with the Dragons was still undefeated. He was still number one. Pegasus figured that the key to Seto's heart lie in that game. He had the feeling that if someone were to defeat his angel, that defeat would crack the shell the boy had created. Once the shell was gone, his heart would be an easy target.
The white haired man had the means to serve up Kaiba-boy's defeat. True, Seto was good. He was World Champion after all. But he didn't have magic on his side. With the Eye to aid him, Pegasus could easily end Seto's winning streak for good. He had it all planned too. He'd arrange a nice private duel. Just the two of them. He'd hand Seto his Dragons on a platter and then comfort the boy after he was beaten. It was the perfect plan.
Prefect except for one drawback. It seemed someone possessing another Millennium Item had gotten to it first. Pegasus had been more than furious at the news of Seto Kaiba's defeat. Some punk kid from out of nowhere had defeated his Seto. And to add insult to injury, that punk had used his item to shatter Seto's armor. Yugi Moto had broke the shield, tried to get to Seto's soul. The punk had tried to heal it.
That made the businessman jealous. Pegasus was a very dangerous man when he was jealous. If Seto's soul had been damaged somehow, he had wanted to be the one to heal it. He had lost his chance and he knew it. Kaiba-boy was probably madly in love with that Yugi kid now. And there was nothing he could do about it. Unless, he got nasty. It really all depended on how low he was prepared to sink to get his angel.

An opportunity showed itself sooner than Pegasus expected. A few days after Kaiba-boy's defeat, the Kaiba Corporation board members called. They were how he remembered them. Still cloaked in shadows, and still hiding their secrets well. He welcomed the chance to talk to the board again. But the news they had for him wasn't welcome at all.
They said Seto Kaiba had abandoned his post as the president of the company. They boy had just disappeared. After his defeat, Seto had basically dropped off the face of the planet. No one knew where the teen was.
The sad thing was, Pegasus knew exactly where the boy had vanished to. After that stunning upset loss, Seto had been devastated. He had taken losing very hard. Sources told him the boy hadn't left the mansion since that loss. Knowing what he knew about Kaiba-boy, Pegasus knew his angel would still be in that house.... Somewhere.
The council was continuing. He forced himself to pay strict attention to what they were saying. Something about corporate bylaws. They wanted to take over the company, but only a Kaiba could run the business. These men were purposing that he eliminate the hardest opposition to the takeover, being his angel. That gave Pegasus an idea. He knew exactly how to get Kaiba to resurface and come directly to him.
“And if you do this, we are prepared to lay all of Kaiba Corporation's technology at your feet.”
“What would I have to do again?” He questioned.
“Seto Kaiba must be taken care of. That much is certain.”
Pegasus suppressed a smile. He ordered his men in. He knew that Seto's brother had been listening in the entire time. That was another stage of his grand scheme. The guards dragged the boy in. Mokuba had spunk. The kid shouted curses at him and the men in the room. “My brother won't let you get away with this!” He finished, struggling.
The businessman ignored him. “And you can expect me to take care of the other problem just as efficiently.” Then Pegasus left. He hoped that Mokuba was right about his big brother. He hoped Seto would come to rescue the kid. That way he would feel so bad about sinking to kidnapping. And that way, he could keep his word to the board. Maximillion Pegasus was definitely going to take care of Seto Kaiba. Only, his definition was far different than what the shadow council had intended.
