Seto finally let Li out of his embrace, just barely. He took Li's chin in his hand and forced her to look into his fierce gaze. Crimson orbs stared back at him. Li's face was unreadable.

"Stay. I want you to marry me." Li's eyes widened just bit, but inside, her thoughts were going a mile a minute. "I can't do that." Her voice was calm, but Li was stunned to say the least. She had known Seto for little more than a month, and here he was professing his love to her and asking her to be his wife. Seto's face had a look of desperation on it. "You said you love me, and it's not like I want you to throw your life away. You can still manage the bakery from here. Please, I don't think I can bear to be without you any longer." Seto's face softened as he caressed the face of the beauty before him. "Whether you lead me to my doom or my salvation, I don't care. I just need you here, by my side." He came close to her, wrapping an arm around her as his other hand guided Li's face to his. But this time the embrace was gentle as was his kiss. Seto's lips little more than ghosted over his lover's pink mouth, as if suddenly afraid he would hurt her. He felt Li shiver in his arms. Seto had never been so gentle with her. Li softly lay her head on his chest and spoke softly to him.

" You and I love each other now, but who is to say that this love will last? I don't want to hurt you, koibito, and I don't want to be hurt." Seto stroked Li's hair, the role of comforter and the comforted now reversed. "I have never loved another as I love you, nor have I ever loved someone so strongly," Seto's voice suddenly became quiet, as if afraid anyone would hear. "Not even Mokuba." He buried his face in her sweet smelling hair and whispered to her, "You are the other half of my soul, and now that I've found you, I'm not going to let anyone else have you."

Li looked upon Seto's face to see if he meant what he said. No longer was his face frozen like stone in that same emotionless expression any longer, and no longer was his heart made of ice. Seto was now truly human, made of blood, flesh, and bone. He could now feel true joy and love, and he was no longer invulnerable. He was now as fragile and mortal as anyone else was. His eyes gazed into her own, the gray-blue depths threatening to swallow her whole. They held such an expression of profound love and hope and sorrow. She could really love this man, and perhaps, he could truly love her.

Seto's hand still held the face of his lover, his thumb now stroking Li's soft cheek. He stared into those eyes from which he had loved from the beginning. She didn't wear her glasses, so he went unshielded from her burning gaze. Her stare was as intense as molten lava, as if scouring his soul for what he already knew was the truth. Her eyes were the color of blood, a reminder of his own mortality. They were the color of a fire that threatened to burn him alive. Such passion she had. They seemed to bore into him. They could see what no one else could. A quiet voice broke the tense silence that had been building between them.

"I'll marry you."

Seto almost couldn't believe his ears, but he knew the words had come from Li's mouth. He kissed her again and held her for a long while.

Li held Seto tightly, almost afraid to let go. She didn't know how they would feel about each other in the future, but they loved each other now, and that's all that mattered. He could cause her destruction, he could smash her soul and send her to hell, but she didn't care anymore. She wouldn't mind so much. All she new is that she loved him, and she could only hope that their love would make it through.

She could only hope for a bright future.
