Jounouchi Katsuya delighted in Seto Kaiba's confusion when everyone present formed a circle in the middle of his bedroom. To the question of 'what the hell are we doing?' everyone just smirked. A first timer was a funny thing for Fairies transgressing to the Realm of Fae.
It is all very simple, really; in order for the existence of the Fae races to remain… well, existent, they did need somewhere to go back to when the human world was too dangerous or boring to remain in. That place was called the Fairy Court by Fairies, but its name from other Fae races, like… Elves for example, were the Realm of Fae.
Seto Kaiba ended up between two female Fairies who just batted their eyes and looked pretty at him, smiling whenever he asked what he was doing taking their hands. He was instructed to say the same word that Jounouchi said.
Jounouchi smirked greatly as he was positioned exactly opposite Kaiba in the circle. Transportation of one person to and from the Realm was a lot quicker and easier, but some of the Fairies present weren't allowed to use the spell, for various reasons it had been restricted unless in life-or-death situations. Oh, that and Fairies were inherent show-offs. But they weren't likely to tell the vampire present this information.
"Repeat after me, Kaiba. Ha-ji-me!" Jounouchi sounded out the Japanese word for 'begin' slowly; since he was speaking Japanese you can imagine the insult.
"Hajime." Kaiba growled out.
"Ahh, good, now on three: Mitsu, Futatsu, Hitotsu! Hajime!" (Translation: three, two, one, begin!) With this two white dots formed under the pair.
The Fairies either side of Jounouchi began a series of key-words in Fairy. To Kaiba it must have sounded like the world's weirdest language, but as the words passed between the Fairies either side of Jounouchi, then the Fairies either side of those two and so on, it sounded like a simple sentence: 'begin to transport us to the Fairy Palace in the Fairy Court.' The white dots under Kaiba's and Jounouchi's feet spread outward until they met in the center and then merged. Jounouchi couldn't help a laugh when the circle stepped forward into the white energy, dragging the vampire with them. Kaiba made a sound of surprise before they all blinked out of sight.

When you imagine the Fairy Palace, it's safe to assume that images of stone turrets reaching into an evening sky are the first to come to mind. The palace would sparkle with magic twinkle dust, and in the throne room winged Fairies would dance around a flower-throne that seats the most regal and beautiful Queen of the Fairies.
How very wrong this image would be.
The Fairy Palace, the home of the Fairy community was a large chrome sphere. It would have measure roughly twenty kilometers across, ten kilometers wide with a total height of five storeys. It went on as far as the eye could see, and it sparkled, but not with magic dust. The entire establishment was made of metal. It was incredible in design, virtually a fortress in its own way. The surface was smooth and crinkles; there were no grooves in the metal, any bolts or hinges. No blocks or signs. There was no indication as to how the sphere stood stock still on the ground, why it did not roll around and crush anyone stupid enough to walk too close, or those helplessly trapped inside. The Palace was also not surrounded by an enchanted forest, in fact, there was just short grass as far as the eye could see.
When Jounouchi had first seen the palace from the outside his thirteen-year-old mind had only been able to apply the term 'like a bell', now, in his 1,532rd year of life he had slapped one definitive expression that all Fairy folk shared with him to the impression that the Palace gave at first glance.
"… It's like a giant hamster ball." Seto Kaiba murmured as he stared up at the chrome sphere in awe.
Katsuya opened his mouth to reply with something snide or crude, but his breath died on his lips when he saw the expression on the vampire's face; Seto's canines were just a little pointy, his lips parted in wonderment, his cobalt eyes were wide with amazement, he looked positively scrumptious. Jounouchi felt heat race up his face, remembering the kiss in the elevator.
"Stop gawking. We need to get inside, now. If everything is as you say, Jounouchi-kun, then we aren't safe in the open area of the Court." Honda interrupted the blonde Fairy's thoughts with a sharp glare.
Jounouchi nodded, ignoring the glare and motioned for the others to move up. "A'right. Kaiba, close yer' mouth an' follow da' others."
The vampire glanced at the Fairy. "What are you doing?"
"I gotta activate some'tin' 'fore I go in."
"What kind of something?" An expression crossed Kaiba's face akin to… worry.
"If ya' really wanna' know I'm sure da' others'll' get over yer' loss."
"My loss?"
"Yeah, of existence. Now go on ahead… I- I'll be fine." Jounouchi swallowed as he finished his words, it was almost like relief flooded the vampire's features briefly and that scared Jou. It scared him more than Seto's mind games.
Jounouchi watched as the other Fairies guided the vampire toward the sphere; as soon as they were out of sight he knelt on the grassy knoll and drew his blade. He hated doing this. The grass was just an illusion, in reality…
He sliced the tip of his finger, waiting for the blood to well onto the blade. It was a small cut; it wouldn't take long to heal. A thimble full of blood gushed onto the knife before Jounouchi finally whispered a healing spell over the wound and closed it. He then drew the knife back and rocked forward, dragging the blade through the air and slamming it into the ground.
In reality, there was no grass. There was only stone pavement. The grass vanished in a scream of dissolving green, pulling back several yards to show a long stone pathway. Far ahead Jounouchi heard the surprised shouts of Fairy retrieval team. Every one hundred meters or so large stone pillars rose on either side of the path, some were broken and crumbling, others were complete. Atop the pillars large winged dragon sculptures sat. The dragon sculptures wound their bodies around the pillars, each was individual in its design, each had different scales or tails, each was so finely detailed that they could have blinked.
Jounouchi bowed his head, murmuring in Fairy.
"Honored guardians of the path into the most sacred domain of the Fairy. I, blood relative to those whom ye first sealed your bond with, beseech of thee. Arise and awaken from thy slumber, heed the warning of danger that I awaken thee to protect the Fairy from. Queen bestow thee glory!"
As the last musical words died on his lips he heard stone crunching painfully. More yelling from up ahead told Jounouchi that he had successfully awakened them all. The sound of long aged throats giving hearty bursts of battle cries made Jounouchi cringe inwardly. He had heard those cries too often for his overly-long lifetime.
"Who DARES threaten the glorious, most BEAUTIFUL, Queen of Fairies? We WHO have sworn allegiance through BLOOD and death, battle and life will RISE against them and BLAST their trembling flesh into the underworld's DEEPEST bowels." More than a dozen voices boomed out at the blonde fairy in union.
The sound of the aged voices brought an ache deep into Jounouchi's chest. For the queen he would one day become a guardian such as these. Only those related to the family could be twisted and shaped into a guardian Fairy dragon. It was a great honor, and when the final death came, it would send him to the glorious Ether plane. The Fairy heaven.
The blonde raised his head, he stared at the serpentine bodies of the dragon sculptures come to life. They twisted and turned, wings unfurling from centuries of lack of use and stretching to their full extent. The air filled with their wakening cries and the hideous sound of talon on stone grating. Reptilian eyes focused solely on the tiny form who knelt at the start of the path. This was not the first time this one had called the Guardians of the path to life. Once before, when the Elves had slipped through the Hell plane and marched right up to the Palace doors, Jounouchi had stood alone, half unconscious from wounds inflicted in a surprise attack, bleeding his immortal soul away in his fierce battle to survive. And yet here he stood, ready to raise the armies of the Fairy once more.
"The Elves have raised once more, brethren. The Elves threaten our beloved Queen with their foul and treacherous magic. We will crush them into the ground now, we showed them mercy when last we fought them, now you shall clash once more with their demons and their Titans and you shall taste blood in your gums, the sounds of battle will echo in your ears while the unfortunate grace the Ether plane with their honorable deaths. The Queen will prevail through all!" The sound of his own voice felt almost alien to Jounouchi. Yet the words sounded so familiar, the clear, molten warrior rose in him, the one he hated so much.
There was nothing glorified in war, it was a bloody, gutless mess. Months would pass without washing, the harsh stink of burning flesh and upchucked bowels never left your mind. Sometimes, even after the war you would wake to screams as people relived their comrades being ripped to shreds or stomped into the ground, brains and bones exploding and blood and fragments of thicker things went flying out everywhere.
And yet, for their queen, the Fairies would endure so much more.
The dragons roared their approval of the little one's speech.
"NONE shall now pass this path, so long as its guardians draw breath to fly or roar! Go NOW, young Fairy, for glory and Queen, destroy the ELVES; destroy their black hearts with your PUREST sword. Queen BESTOW thee glory!"
Jounouchi bowed once more to the dragons before he took off running along the path to catch up with his comrades. It was unlikely anyone in the Palace HADN'T heard that exchange.
Dragons were so noisy.
~ To Be Continued…
Sweet notes: Damn, that was waaayyy too short. Ah well, I'm pretty proud of this chapter, I think I did good. Did I? Reviews?
Jou: That's right men! Give it your loudest war-cry!
Seto: How about sex-cry?
Jou: Eh? *is grabbed by the vampire and molested* ohh.
Honda: Dude, those dragons are cool.
Otogi: You think? Can I get one in my bedroom?
Yami: I'd ask for one, but give Yugi to Sweets and you won't need a dragon.
Yugi: Hey! I'm not that violent. I'm a perfect push-over in kio wa murasaki des.
Sweets: Hahhaha, that's what you think.
Yugi:… I don't like the sound of that…
Sweets: *leer*. You wouldn't would you?
Jou: B-ut… back to me and Kaiba. *has hickeys all over his neck and is 'mysteriously' without a shirt.* Am I thick with the angst or what?
Sweets: If you'd spent six hundred years fighting a war, would you really want to start one again?
Seto: She's got a point there. *he's nekkied.*
Yugi: Ahh! My virgin brain can't handle the nekkied vampy!!! #_# *runs*
Jou: What's wrong with a naked vampire?
Bakura: Yeah? *strips* What's wrong with it at all?
Jou: O_O… heh, with something so small you'd think Bakura-chan would be a bit less strip-happy.
Bakura: 0_0; *blush* hey, it's not that small.
Ryou: ^.^ besides, it's not size that counts. Its how you-
Seto: >.<; please don't finish that sentence, I've got enough visuals. Thank you. Ja mata ne!
Sweets: Heh, reviews?
